Whenever I see a multi-colored light head I always have the same question. If they're able to fit 3 different colors (totaling 18 led's), wouldn't having all 18 led's as one color and all flash at the same time make an amazing, bright, powerful lighthead? (current configuration 6-red 6-blue 6-white, my ideal configuration 18-red or 18-blue)
Flashing all 18 LEDs at the same time would generate a ton of heat. The light would require a large heat sink and when you add that the compact light becomes not so compact.
06RedfireGT heat is always the number one enemy for led's as many know. If they would consider manufacturing a larger heat sync or even embed a fan (similar to the ones used on aftermarket led headlights), even though it will cause an increase in size, the outcome may be worth it. I know that I would be willing to ignore the potentially larger heft Of the light head in favor of some seriously blinding light. But I'm sure whellen with their million dollar light testing room already determined that it's not as effective as we assume.

Whelen Engineering has made an update to the ION Trio heads. They're now configured with independent trigger wires for each color allowing for control of one, two or all three colors based on what see's +12volts. This change also allows them to better interface with CANtrol and Carbide.

well at least we have 12 led t ions now. lol i have a set of ambers and each fires all 12 at the same time and the punch is amazing.

Is amber also a steady override? That would be kind of useless.
Can I have red blue flashing and add amber when required?
Does the I2 have then same over ride setup with the take down white
can these steady burn red? for instance flashing amber/white and then have red as a break light?
Yes, Red can be set to "Steady". This will then over-ride Amber / White flashing when +12volts in applied. Thanks for watching! 😀🚨

It won't; with +12volts applied to Amber & Red, they'll alternate flashing between the two colors.
My question is, if you have the red/blue/white w/white override, can you select just blue and white to flash?
+bbomber6794 You can program the ION so that only Blue and White flash. The Red can be disengaged through the Mode setting.
