I'm currently fostering a baby Jungle Python (Morelia spilota cheynei). It shed last week and is doing very well. I can attest that they are cranky little buggers when they're young. That's to be expected though, considering they come from the rainforest in Atherton Tablelands and everything wants to eat them when they're only about 30cm long. I'm handling it as often as possible to get it used to human contact, but it'll be a long road. I nicknamed it CFMEU. Your Aussie listeners will get the reference.
@@paulstingray I will for sure (I subbed). If you want to see a couple of 2-metre+ pythons wrestling in my shed, have a look over my way. There are a few videos showing off the local wild animals, including a very short clip of the big female just after she ambushed a Long-Nosed Potoroo.
I call the rainforest up between Cooktown and Cape Tribulation my home. I've seen some big Amethystine Pythons up there in the wild. I tended to just watch them do their thing. If they were crossing the road, I'd stop and put my hazards on so they didn't get hit by any other cars that might be on the road. They're big and awe-inspiring.
Very Kool array of Snakes... Albino Olives are amazing.. dig the water Python too... Intriguing by all the different Jungles available.. I want an Albino Darwin.. but can't here in WA 😔 Cheers for sharing a small selection of your Snakes 🐍 🤘
Hi Paul great video mate thank you. I live on the southside of Brisbane on a suburban block and about 2 weeks ago my wife found the skin of a fairly large snake. The other day I spotted it and it's definately a python of some type around 1.5 metres long. Today I found a dead rat that looked like it had been ruffled up a bit but left whole. We have rock retaining walls all the way around and it's possible the snake was trying to kill it before it rolled off the rock wall and maybe got distracted. I'm only guessing. My problem is we have a pet Chihuahua which maybe too big for this snake now but certainly in time it will be a target. There are so many hiding places for this snake amongst the gardens and in the rock crevices so for now the dog is grounded to inside. Any advice on how we can catch this snake and relocate it 1000 miles away Paul? Thanks David.
It’s possible the skin is from a completely different Python. There are multiple snakes species in south-east Brisbane. The common types of Pythons you’ll see are coastal carpet Pythons and spotted Pythons. Unfortunately there’s more than just pythons that will see Chihuahuas as food. You’ve got lace monitors, as well as a few different types of predatory birds I have a small dog and won’t let him out unless I’m out with him. You could always ring a local Snakecatcher if you see another python.
@@paulstingray Thank you for your speedy response Paul and yes I agree with everything you've said. It would be tough to live a life as a small dog! If I see it again I'll call a snake catcher. Thank you again.
Wow the last snake has some decent fangs, definitely would not like a bite from that one . I do love pythons , Murray darling pythons grow pretty big to , also got an attitude sometimes as well lol.
Between the fauna and the human inhabitants, Australia is a “must visit” for me. Some beautiful specimens Any Womas or amethystines in your collection?? BTW, you’ve noticed that noise can effect the snakes?
OMGGGGGGGG THE BLACK N WHITE JUBGLE PYTHON!!! Ugh I’ve desperately been looking for monochrome pythons here. If that species is a bit nippy, does anyone know any other similar species that can be monochrome and friendly?
