5 billion in debt, just pumping this
He had dominos, announced his position, went up and dumped it in less than a year.
Bill Ackman isn't even in the same investing style as WB
Ackman isn’t WB.
An ongoing 1.5% management fee is the most un-Berkshire Hathaway-like thing I can think of.
Ignore management fee.
Just look at long-term returns. The returns are net of fees.
Would you not invest in a fund that returned 15% per year because of a 2.5% fee and take a 9% per year returned from a 0.02% fee index fund?
Now, this is NOT me claiming his results are good or bad. I am only speaking to the concern of fees.
Fees only matter when comparing identical funds, such as two SP500 index funds from two different ETF companies.
Returns these days are all net, less you are looking at someone's marketing materials, but when you get results from a yahoo, schwab, fidelity, etc. research tools or other tools that you can get total returns from (price + dividends) like seeking alpha.
@@mjs28s I don't mean to bad mouth the deal and it may do very well, but Warren Buffett always says the shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway are his partners... it's just a different thing.
So the 1.5% management fee would be based on the market cap of HHH? That may be somewhat reasonable at the current market cap, but at a higher market cap, that seems exorbitant.
Not a big fan of the inverse dividend, but I like the idea of the new company.
I’m trying to work out what he’s going to do with Pershing square holdings and how that fits in. My understanding is that the stake PSH has in HHH would remain in PSH. However, PSH also owns other businesses and it’s whether that works now that there might be HHH that could hold all that capital/shares. I suspect a reverse merger is coming but open to thoughts on that?
Hey Matt - what you planning to do with your shares? It seems like HHH is undervalued even at $85/share. Do you know what Ackman's track record is as an investor?
Why do you think this is a good investment?
No it isn’t. Character matters. Ackerman is a sleezy guy.
Be wary of anyone claiming they want to be the next _______.
