    Two of the best books I read this year were The Radium Girls, by Kate Moore, and Fall and Rise: The Story of 9/11, by Mitchell Zuckoff. I wanted to do a video on the second book, but I put it off too long and had to return it to the library.
    May you and your family have a very happy New Year! Since tonight (the fifth night of Chanukah) is my Hebrew birthday, a day when tradition says we have the power to give and receive blessings, I give you the blessing of a new year filled with many good things, happiness, fortune, and attained wishes.

    Hey Kelly
    I was listening to your video while washing the dishes, but when you started talking about him, I had to pause :)
    I think I’ve had enough from Shakespear, at least for this while☺️
    We were working on his works for the the whole semester, dealing with the big words . . and had his poems to translate, in our literary translation class. Summer’s day was the highlight if you ask me what I remember.
    So, will I still read for him? Yes, after I take a long break
    His works need some time to contemplate, don’t you think?

I bought it last year after hearing Gina sings it’s praises. It did not disappoint! It was the coziest book I’ve read all year and really helped me with my grief over the Christmas season. Hi Kelly! A nice end-of-2024 recap! By the way, I have noticed your tab system when reading books and was curious about that (do the different colors mean anything specific?).
    My favorite book of 2024 was actually “Now in November” and in fact I gave it to my niece as a Christmas present! Another novel that stood out for me this year was “The Bone People” by Keri Hulme-it’s not a book for everyone (really difficult subject matter), but the passion it was written with is undeniable, and makes me want to go see New Zealand someday.
    I am wrapping up a weekend in NYC. I visited the famous Strand bookstore (hadn’t been there in several years now) and picked up a copy of Chaim Potok’s “The Chosen,” which will be on my 2025 agenda. Right now I am reading Peter Schaffer’s play “Equus.” Happy New Year!! 🍾 🎆

    • @booksimnotreading
      @booksimnotreading  9 днів тому +1

      @@gammaanteria Only once in awhile do the tabs specifically mean something - like when I reread Gone with the Wind. I ran out of orange in my book for work - there were a few things like the blue tabs that relate specifically to something at work. Kudos on finishing the Barsetshire series. I know you were determined to get that done in 2024. (I loved the series but in the last book I had enough of the Lily Dale drama 🙄).

    Stoner by John Williams
    Long Island by Colm Toibin
    The Coast Road by Alan Murrin
    The Guest by Emma Cline
    Waiting by HaJin
    The Rabbit Hutch by Tess Gunty
