I respect and like Gilbert but I don't think he is a legend. The have been better players and coaches than him. One thing I like about him, he used the environment around him to help him win matches, that distract other players, i.e., wind, jet noise, etc. Didn't like his plan to have ever increasing speed with Roddick's serve, that led to his downfall. With Coco, I noticed he is only concentrating on her strengths not the speed.
Chrissie was right, in 2019 the tennis world knew that Coco is going to be big and start winning Grand Slams. I think she will end her career aged in her late 30s having won about 40 singles titles including around 8 grand slams.

Coco is seen as the future star and new face of WTA for years.

I did NOT say Coco Gauff could beat Djokovic. I simply compared their games. Coco is a great athlete (for a female and great athlete, period). Coco is 19 years old. Her forehand, volleys, and everything will get better. How many Grand Slams fish Djokovic have at the age of 19?? Coco has the potential to carve her own niche. I feel her game is similar to certain players and different from certain players. Serena could play defense but was far more aggressive than Coco is right now. Again, she's 19. And female athletes don't have to play and beat male athletes in order to be compared to them or praised for their greatness.

After Gilbert joined Team Gauff and Gauff's daddy took a back seat, Gauff went on a winning tear up to and through the U.S. Open. Would those wins have happened without Gilbert? She won a match IN THIS TOURNAMENT doing what he told her not to, and said it was her father's scouting report that did it for her in her victory speech. Yes, Brad is great at what he does, I am a Brad fan, but it is disturbing to see how many people are acting as if she wasn't already on the cusp of winning a slam. More than anything, it was her bruised pride from Wimbledon that kicked it into gear. Brad added on to what her family, coach, trainer, hitting partner, etc. had already built. I think we look at colour too much. If the trainer is white and kind or otherwise, we go where they are but she gave credit to God, her parents, family and fans so she knows where to give honor. Brad is a great coach, and a good dad.

This! Brad was a great addition, but the formula was already there. She won a match IN THIS TOURNAMENT doing what he told her not to, and said it was her father's scouting report that did it for her in her victory speech. Yes, Brad is great at what he does, I am a Brad fan, but it is disturbing to see how many people are acting as if she wasn't already on the cusp of winning a slam. More than anything, it was her bruised pride from Wimbledon that kicked it into gear. Brad added on to what her family, coach, trainer, hitting partner, etc. had already built.
