Please never feel like you have to apologize for anything especially getting bits and pieces you want to use but don’t have on the ready. I do so much appreciate getting to see you think through a project you are working on. It is helpful to see how you create your beautiful pieces. We are all so grateful for your daily videos and all the hard work and planning that goes into it. You are one special lady!!
Ahh, Edith Holden. Who doesn’t love her? I am delighted to see you using the book illustrations along with your own special treatments. The old newspaper and lace add such lovely touches. The real surprise was the cover! Good thing you saved the fabric from your daughter’s dress.because it is perfect. TFS, Tina. I luv it. 🌺🌼🌸🌻
Tina, lovely & unique!! Just LOVE how you mix & match bits of odd fabrics and old papers with your stash of journal papers & mail. Sun & warmth a-plenty here....so I've been weeding in the landscaping & flowers. My way of escaping the world's worries for a while....& wishing that the whole world could enjoy such a break.🌺
I love Edith Holden and have been hording my book too! lol The image on the last journaling card that you made are rose hips. They are the seed pod once the rose has lost it's petals. They are very tasty and full of vitamin C if you just eat the outside and the flesh inside leaving the seeds like an apple core in the center. I only know this as many years ago now my grandma showed me the wide rose hips behind our cabin at the lake. I used to get a dish full and string them to make a necklace. Good memories! Hugs! Pat K.
You are right, your daughter's old dress does make a pretty journal cover. Excited to see the final flip through. Edith Holden's illustrious are beautiful. Thank you!!
This journal is looking so pretty! I only have one Edith Holden book and I ripped out one page so far. Can't bear to rip out anymore! And "YES" to a tutorial on the envelope pouch!!!!!!
I checked my copy and the red berry thingies at the end are hips of villous Rose. Love your videos, you are so calming and I love your sense of humor and of course all the beautiful things you create❤
I love edith holden books. I have three but have only just broken into the first one.i am hoarding mine as well. They are very expensive for us to buy in Canada but are so worth it. Thank you for sharing.
I just found and bought an Edith Holden Book on ebay inspired by this video. I've seen other crafters use the pages as well and like you it is time I did so as well!
I have to tell you how much I love watching you!! I have been sewing scrub caps for my daughters hospital and haven’t worked in journals for 3 days, but you keep me motivated and giggling! Thank you
I love Edith Holden! Beautiful pages and the nice yellow patina in them is gorgeous... Shaping up nicely Tina... I would love a mass make on the envelopes.. Thanks for sharing tea with me this morning and I hope you have a wonderful day ♥️
I adore my Edith Holden books, I have three of them and like you I have been hoarding them… lol! I only recently started using one of them to craft with… 😁 I love this journal you are making, it is already gorgeous! Can’t wait to see what you will do with all the bits and bobs. Good job! 🌿🌼🌾
Your Edith Holden journal is looking very lovely. I too bought a Edith Holden book to tear up and one to keep to enjoy. Your daughter's dress was so perfect for the journal cover. I would love to see you do a tutorial on your envelope pouch pocket.
Your work is always gorgeous. Yellow goes with all sorts of other colors. I have one small Edith Holden book and I'm terrified to use too much of it, because I'm worried I won't be able to find any more of them. :-) :-) (What a nice son you have that he brought you tea!) I like the personal touch of using your daughter's dress. (Btw, I watched one of your videos the other day where you were talking about making Barbie clothes. My daughter started making her Barbie clothes when she was about 10. Fast forward a few years and she'd worked her way up to making renaissance gowns and garments and when she got married she made her own wedding dress, so you never know! You might have just started a life long passion for your daughter.) Tfs. XX
I found an Edith Holden book in a carboot last year & made a few embellishments from it, then decided I just so wished I hadn't cut the book up!- so my husband bought me one off ebay for my birthday- one to use & one to just enjoy!
OK -- you need to pull this video -- I have to move in 13 days -- I need to pack -- I can't wait to see what you do with this -- I have two of her books, and the images are not copyrighted and I don't have the courage to cut them, so I print them on cheap cheap watercolor paper, the back side, and the images come out really nice -- I'm going to wait to watch until tonight -- I know it will be wonderful !!! Take care -- I'll probably watch on tv, can't leave book-size comments -- ha -- cheers, Patricia
The Edith Holden pages are so perfect with your Rambler Notes kit. This is a gorgeous journal! I would love to know how you did the double envelope pocket. Thank you, Tina!
Thank you Tina,I have made sure I got 2 copies of the Edith Holden books because I cant cant part with the pages on both sides. This was an awesome and inspiring video. ❤
Hi Tina, believe it or not, I do not have a single Edith Holden book 😞. Someday maybe. I really like the 3 pocket envelopes!...they’re very pretty. You mentioned that if anyone was interested in a tutorial you would consider doing one. I would 😊. I love the journal. Lots of hugs 🤗.
I’m late to Edith Holden as well but I found some cards in a charity shop that I can use and I snagged a cheap copy as well. I might photograph some of the images and print them out to use. You are such a joy to watch and have been a wonderful tonic through lockdown and shielding. I love the little envelope pouches, might be good for a mass make? Thank you again.
It’s A Rose Hip When I Was A Child We Had Rose Hip Syrup When You Had A Cold, The Hips come When The Flowers Have Finished Booming, Hope This Helps, Your Not The Last With Edith I’v Been Making My One Over A Year Now, Yours Is Coming Along Nicely TYFS Happy Crafting Lynn XX
Love your thought process as you bring your journal to life..❤️just subscribed to your channel.. I am looking forward to watching all your videos you have created..❤️
That "yellow" tone to the pages can vary from book to book. I have been quite lucky in my little secondhand shops and have a few copies of Edith's book, and the colour tone differences can vary widely. Some editions are quite pale, and others can be deeply yellowy-brown.
I’m inspired by your Edith Holden Journal. I own one of her books and have been unwilling to cut it up because it is so lovely. I think what I might do is remove every page from her book then scan each page into my computer. I don’t sell my journals so there shouldn’t be any copyright issues. Then I will always have her beautiful drawings. At that point I’ll feel comfortable using the book pages. Your journal is so pretty. I love the tucks and envelopes and the drawings and colors just make might heart sing.
This is going to be so pretty. I am almost out of Edith Holden pages and I need to order some more books. But not for $800 ! There are some of these that are $800 on Amazon 😳
Hi Tina another lovely project. Can I just ask what GSM is the paper you used for the food colour dyed paper and the GSM of the ramblers notes paper. When I use 80 gsm even after coffee/tea dying the paper still feels very flimsy. Yours look and sound more robust. Thank You. x
TIna, what with you being a Brit and all, you should realize that the color that results (from your ministrations) is "Mellow Yellow"! Now you have your earworm for the day. (You are so welcome! hahaha) Also, for the botanically-minded and those would would like to be botanically minded, there is an app that I use named worldflora. It is remarkable and is reviewed by peers (and specialists) that confirm, speculate, narrow-down, and the like. I am attempting to learn more about natural and herbal remedies, edibles, and dyables. (I already make my own black walnut ink from, you guessed it: black walnut [hulls]). Best luck to you!
Loving this! This journal is going to be gorgeous, Tina!! Your daughters dress is a perfect match for this journal. I’m hoarding my Edith Holden book too. Lol! xxx
just beautiful. yes please do a vid on the envelope thanks for sharing I always have a cup of tea going, I tell my husband it's my British genes peeking through the generations. So glad you used the purple flower, looks like a johnny jump up, my favorite flower, next is lilacs. I do love spring when they bloom.
I also got this book...and once it arrived, I found that the idea of cutting it up was horrifying! LOL. So what I will probably end up doing is making copies of the pages I decide to use and then print copies.
Yes, it really was hard to cut into it. However, I have been super lucky to have been sent two more, and also found another at a car boot sale would you believe?? x
I bought a few on Amazon, but you need to shop around a bit. Some sellers sell Edith Holden books for 3 or 4 times as much as other sellers. Good luck 🍀
Oh my gosh. I had to stop your video. I was shocked at my Edith Holden pages too! When I copy them the background is an peachy color.....not one I like. I was so disappointed because I adore her drawings. I tried to lighten my copies and it didnt work. If anyone has a suggestion please let me know. I am making my 11 year old niece a birding journal and specifically bought this precious book to place drawings in her journal. Thank you.

I love the cover. The fact that it was from a dress that belonged to your daughter adds to its appeal. It does go perfectly with Edith's book !!!!
Thank you so much June, yes that dress was just such a stroke of luck x
I adore that you have a cup and saucer for your tea! x
I love Edith Holden and have been hording my book too! lol The image on the last journaling card that you made are rose hips. They are the seed pod once the rose has lost it's petals. Yes please Tina, on the envelope.
I bought 5 second-hand, aged copies to play with, while saving my cherished personal copy.
OH lucky you!!!!
That's exactly what I am doing 😊

Fantastic idea as you’re not selling your journals. They are beautiful images aren’t they? X
Do you have any of the honey colored distress ink? It might go nicely with the yellow of the EH pages
Thanks for sharing
This is going to be so pretty. I am almost out of Edith Holden pages and I need to order some more books. But not for $800 ! There are some of these that are $800 on Amazon 😳
Some people are just crazy with their prices! X
Her books are so beautiful????
How so we cut them up????

I always have a cup of tea going, I tell my husband it's my British genes peeking through the generations. So glad you used the purple flower, looks like a johnny jump up, my favorite flower, next is lilacs. I do love spring when they bloom.
❤❤❤
I love and adore that green lace. For once I love your lace. Lol. Oh nooooo don’t put those on that. Use the green one.
❤
Where do I find the lovely botanicals you use? I didn’t find them in your shop .
I used a combination of Edith Holden book images, and my Ramblers Notes kit x
If you are late to the party it must be I will never even arrive 😁 Not that I don’t like the E. Holden books, just never even seen one irl 😆
I can't bring myself to cut my books. So I photo copy mine and cut those. You can use different tones of paper.
Please I would love the envelope pouch tutorial.
I also got this book...and once it arrived, I found that the idea of cutting it up was horrifying! LOL. So what I will probably end up doing is making copies of the pages I decide to use and then print copies.
