Thanks Björn for this video! As always very good information and very entertaining!! MY 2 cents (dealbreakers) for NIO and most Chineese cars in these days: 1. The software ... buggy and not adapted to European habbits (except for Polestar) 2. Nomi is a pain in the a** - total nonsense IMHO 3. Permanent "ding-dong" for almost anthing .. unaccaptable 4. These peeking out camera bulgs are ugly ... All these pain-points are also in the video very well pointed out! But China is leader in battery tech, and that will not change any time soon.
Autogefühl had same problem with NOMI. He managed to turn it off. Also crossing China guy showed how to do it quite easily so I think you should do it and retest!!

Considering the temperature, I think the consumption is actually good. I have seen some ET5 reviews from 🇨🇳, that car is smaller and lighter but the consumption is similar to ET7 for the time being, because the ET5 has a different powertrain. Excited to see that car for European reviews.

Once I noticed the accelerating / decelerating thing it would absolutely drive me nuts! Can't be good for efficiency also. One thing I'm curious about regarding battery swapping - after a few years and some battery degradation, could you then sign up for battery swap and get a newer one (or is that handled with terms and conditions somehow)?
I wonder if the non-linear power delivery by the autopilot is affecting the range in any significant way? That yo-yoing is a deal breaker for me! Hopefully they fix it
The behavior doesn't even look like a PID control loop. It seems like some sort of if-else implementation. Or maybe it's PID but some variable has too little resolution? Difficult to tell. Anyway, I agree something is clearly wrong.
I just noticed that the Nio does not have any mudflaps. I bet it will rust in couple of years at the bottom of front doors since salt and small rocks will hit the side of the car.
Really looking forward to this one! But you can't even test drive it in Europe yet so I think it'll take a few months for Bjorn to get his hands on it.
Björn, do you check if the reported consumption is true? Seems like car brands can play with this number a bit to look a bit better compared to others. Do you measure total energy used after a run by charging up to the same level (100%) and noting the amount of kWh the charger delivers? In the end, this is what we pay.
If they survive 5 years from now I might consider. But right now, as cool as the car is, your also risk buying into a car company that having issues selling cars within its own domestic market in addition to cash flow problems. I've learned my lesson with Chinese stocks, all it takes is one little decimal place in the wrong spot in their accounting and the whole company goes belly-up.
Nio is thinking different and in my opinion has some of the same quality's and fun thinking as tesla. Their system is very good and is getting better all the time. I am a fan and simply think it is a great car. Lot of power as well

An analog car? Any car with a bit of electronics isn't really necessary. A century ago cars could also drive but didn't even come with indicators... Even a Tesla like @squick1842 mentioned is loaded with camera's and sensors witch you don't really need. A backup camera? Just look out of your window. Parking sensors? Just watch your surroundings and get to know how big your car is.

My independent garage I take my Mazda to admitted that in a few years time they might pack it in as the tech in cars is getting to a stupid level where hugely expensive diagnostic equipment is needed to diagnose a car fault and then fix it. That is a sad situation. Dealers charge a kidney or two to fix even minor issues and quite often it is not diagnosed correctly at the first pass as the tech makes it so complicated to ID a fault. [A Mazda dealer quoted me £450 to fix my sat nav, insisting that a new chip was needed. I googled the issue and discovered that a simple fix corrected the issue which was well-known. I have a tyre pressure sensor that the dealer and independent tried to fix and couldn’t. Still not fixed to this day. And I cannot disconnect it as it is a so-called safety feature. Just a few examples of many tech-based issues]. And yes, even a Tesla is software heavy. Tech = buggy. Thank god seat belts aren’t software-based. An analogue car would be a dream. No dodgy electronics that fail and which can’t be fixed without hooking up to a computer. I’m tired of tech that exists for no reason at all other than to part people from their cash. And yea of course there is tech that actually is beneficial.
Nio hide some battery capacity under 0%, you can safely drive 20km. I think you mess up with Nomi, since most nio owners like nomi very much. The European version software still has long way to go.
If I'm not mistsken Bjorn, all the "voices" annoying information can be muted off very quickly using the screen. Another YT creator showed how the other day.
Probably something cheap or an older model. Newer cars get quite a lot of safety equipment for the 5 star ratings at crashtests. Even the Seat Mii Electric I'm driving dings when the lane assist gets upsets. It is posible to turn off the lane assist but everytime you turn on the car it's back on again. The VW e-Up before the facelift with the smaller battery doesn't have lane assist but city brake witch probably won't get activated that often I hope.
for me, battery swap would work only if I would own the car with a battery, and when swapped, the newly installed one has guaranteed minimum SOH (eventually tied to mileage of the car)
Et7 seems to be a fail.. many different reviews about this car, some love it, some hate it.. There are rumors about an et7 facelift coming soon.. let’s see, a lot of things to do! 😔
They have the technical expertise when they are able to make a more quiet car than eqs that is faster and lighter for half the price. But then they cannot make a lane keep assist work even if they have cameras and lidar for several thousand euros. 😡Hope all this is fixed in the facelift.

I really do not know who would buy this car in Europe for this price, it is rediculuos. If they would bring some reliable small cars, like Huyndai did, they might be getting a chance to proof they can do nice cars. But just to bring so expensive and not competitive product into premium segment, where the decision mostly made based on image of the company, it is just a strategic fail. Nio can get their market share only by lowering priced by MUCH.

Majority of reviews are very good. Multiple awards in Europe despite a couple of months in. These negative reviews are mostly pro Tesla channels like this one and Viking. "It's All Electric" channel did a long test and Nio won without problems...

It may be designed in germany, but it ends with the Chinese having the final say, a weird mish mash of design languages trying to base it on other cars. Lacks the execution of actual german brands
To be fair to the EQS it was on fat ass tires. Would have been fun to have seen at least one test with the 19" basic tires on that car but no the importers always insist on slapping on the biggest thing they can find.

NIO is nice - TESLA has the supercharger. PERIOD

EQS doesn't have heatpump so it's doomed to have high consumption in winter.

Yeah I get 285 miles from my 64kwh Kona so not impressed with same range from this 100kwh car , though maybe couldn't quite do it at -1c
You get 460 km range in your Kona in summer. You can't compare that with this result. In winter, your Kona can go only 350 km (220 mi).
That display look like some put on the Tesla with android auto.

Battery swap adds weight, and may expose batteryconnectors to mud water ice and salt. In 5 years we will know how it went.
