Great video! Looking to pick this monitor up now! You are 100% right, yes there are less costly methods, but let's tech out if we can! Keep making great videos!
I did this with my Samsung Tab Ultra, which is 14.6 inches and OLED. I did the same with the Minisforum V3 as well. I also had the X1. Having a screen over 9 inches was cool for casual play, but when I needed complete control and comfort for difficult games, it felt awful for all of those setups. The novelty of it all is cool, but it wore off real quick. Since I've had nearly 17 handhelds, I think 7 - 9 inch screens are the only thing I'll accept for any serious gaming.
@@BarelyAverageDude Yeah, I agree the X1 mini is a great handheld. With that said, I love your energy for trying new things, so keep on making videos with these unorthodox setups.
I bought the same Screen with touchscreen still waiting for it and a LegionGO, i got the Abxsolute s9 Controller with Type C it doesnt work with or? i didnt even think about that using it like that but damn thats fire ngl
I understand that it's really cool and all, but it's not a handheld anymore, you have to lug cables, controllers, monitors, Rog ally x and maybe even a charging cable around with you all the time, which might not be a problem at first but can get really annoying over time.Just my Opinion
That’s a reasonable opinion. I still think it’s handheld (because I can hold it 🤷🏽♂️) but it’s probably not your first choice to take out of the house with you. But when has the most extreme ever been the most practical? 😅 I only have two criteria for a handheld: 1. Are the controllers attached? 2. Can I hold it and play games?
Btw the controller stated compatible length 120-215mm, while the monitor 354 × 242mm, does it really fit? Or you did customise the controller to extend the supported length for the monitor?
Crazy how there's a large gorgeous screen oled 1800p 120hz touch screen makes the game view larger and a few of yall still decide to hate smh unbelievable👀
@@velvetvideo I just tested it and you can *connect 4 additional monitors* at the same time! 1 in the Display Port, 2 in the HDMI ports and 1 in the USB C Thunderbolt port on the front; a total of 5 displays including the Ally screen. I tested playing playing a full screen video on all of the displays and a AAA game on the 5th and while performance did take around a 20% hit it still played at higher performance than the Ally X itself so that’s a win to me. Monitor resolutions: 1 x 4K 2 x 1080p 1 x 1800p (the one in this video) Plus the Ally internal display at 1080p
I've been doing this for ages with my 14.6 inch samsung and use moonlight streaming from my gaming pc. It's playable for 30 minutes or so because of the weight. I end up using my 8.8 inch lenovo y700 with an abxylute s9 for a total weight of 600g for longer gaming sessions.
Do you think there is any keyboard out there that could fit with this display to transform it into a lapdock / laptop? I’ve seen the Brydge 12.3 Pro Bluetooth work for others at the 13.3” monitor size, so long as thickness is same as Surface Pro 7 (.33in). This display should be able to fit into that same keyboard but It might look a bit goofy because of how much bigger the display is. Man a similar keyboard for this display would be an awesome and light “laptop” companion with the handheld.
@ but it doesn’t appear to be OLED, 120hz and my reservation about those lapdocks is the in-built battery. Would prefer a battery-less display and one that could be removed from the keyboard so I can fix it to my monitor stand as a dual monitor setup for my desk.
I assume that the UPerfect also has USB Hub / Passthrough. If so you could connect the G8+ also via short & angled USB-C to have less latency (Bluetooth) and no more battery anxiety :-) I am actually doing the very same thing with a very cheap portable Monitor, the G8+, a minipc with USB4 + a 24 GByte 3090Ti, so i am with you :-)
