Porter looks absolutely delighted, how lovely for him to have a friend.
As someone who raised 2 dogs from the same litter, it is so much easier to care for them rather than one because they keep each other busy and happy. So happy for your family!

Rare colour Dachshunds such as Isabella Piebalds are found through irresponsible breeding (whether or not they are bred in a home environment), as they are selectively bred for their looks, with no thought to their health and welfare. This breed is highly prone to alopecia, infection, skin cancer, congenital deafness and eye sight issues. As a dog owner my self ultimately I would want to own a dog that had a greater chance of living a long and healthy life, rather than prioritising owning a dog with a rare colouring. Please do your research if you are influenced to buy a Isabella Piebald Dachshund after seeing this video.
Or why not rescue a dog as the rescue homes are bursting with lockdown dogs!! 😥
@@pinksugar17 I agree, adopting is definitely ideal and is my personal preference but unfortunately it’s not an option for everyone. I believe opting for a puppy from a breeder can be done in a responsible and considered way too.

Will you address why you have gone down the piebald/ double dapple route when choosing your second pup? In a previous video you mention being aware of the health issues these coloured dachshunds have yet you have decided to purchase one, from a more than likely, unethical breeder. Did you make the decision purely to obtain a desirable colour? There is a reason these colours aren't recognised by the KC and why ethical breeders would never breed in this way.
An ethical breeder doesn't advertise dogs online , do things at such speed, not do a home check, etc etc. Clearly a backyard breeder, and awful that Lydia has close to a million followers and hasn't used her platform for good - quelle surprise
Oh my days You guys are just so hard to please. 🙄🙄There’s always the option to create your own channels to speak on the matter if you’re that passionate about it. Breeder or not the dog still needs a home.
@@adinadade8167 I merely asked if she would address it as its a topic she has raised in the past and I was surprised the route she had taken given the research she did with porter. She also has a large influence on people so it could drive demand for unethically bred pups. I am of course pleased the dog has a lovely home but sadly breeding dogs has become a business for many people which has driven poor standards.

I remember you talking about almost getting a different colour pup when you got Porter but didn't because you became aware of the health risks, what's changed?
Exactly she knows the associated health conditions but still went for a blue pied bald. Encouraging breeders to breed more of these poor dogs who more often than not end up with health conditions related to their colour 😡

When we got our 2nd dog, the first one potty trained her because the first would go to the door to go outside the the second, would follow. Getting a 2nd one is easier. Than they have a play mate and companion. It’s great congrats.

What a cutie pie! With three dogs at our house I learned something I thought I would pass on. Its important to give Porter attention 1st and any other situation him 1st. It shows hierachy within the dog family. I didnt know about this when our third dog was added and because she was young and full of vigor she was always getting attention 1st. This lead to her thinking she was the alpha and then she started turning on the other two dogs. Long story short, it was my actions and reactions that were causing the issue. Just some advice...Porter 1st will show B where he stands in the family order. Congrats on the new family member!

I agree with you, I have two cats and we got a basset hound, we made sure the cats understood they come first, I wouldn't forgive me if they leave. Cats know they come first and the dog respect them pretty much. Good advice Tracy. ☺️

… only with them it can get pretty dangerous if the young ones think they’re the queens/kings of the world, so I always make sure to have my very dominant very old mare with them to bring them down to earth and let them experience they have to do what grandma is telling them 😬😬😬

Barkley is cute but probably destined for a life filled with health problems. Pie bald dachshunds with a lot of white are highly likely to suffer from a range of health conditions. I hope you researched what it means to have a dog with this colouring
OMG! I feel like a winner for just having the chance to "witness" this. I really caught the feels through the screen when Lydia was so excited about going to see the puppy. It was also super sweet to hear Ali talk about wanting to see her get something that she wants (even if he is not super keen on it YET) because she deserves it. Agreed! Ali and Lydia deserve all the goodness their hearts and hands can hold. That is my wish for them and everyone reading this!

It's amazing how much a dog can change your life for the better ! We got our boy only 2 months ago it was one of the best decisions my husband and I have made. The first night our pup, he did a Little bit of crying. And my hubby started crying because he was so worried about the puppy having anxiety about being left alone for the night

@@lydiamillen from a well researched ethical breeder - maybe you could make a video or comment on this, especially as to your viewers it looks like you saw a dog on gumtree, and took it away the same day, giving puppy farm vibes, and also purchased an unethical and unregistered coloured puppy too.

@@laurajane7573 regardless vets are not just going to put healthy puppies down just because of a breeder standard, if barkley has a full bill of health positively then as far as I'm concerned lydia and Ali has saved him from the breeder.

You really think she 'saved him' from the breeder? She wanted him because of the colour and the fact it's rare.
The reason puppy farms exist is because people continue to buy them.
The reasons Isabellas sell for a much higher price than normal colours is because they are rare and people want them as a fashion symbol. People breed these dogs deliberately BECAUSE people like it and will pay over the odds. They're not saving anyone - they've probably just influenced rogue puppy breeders to breed even more!

Running the risk of sounding like a repetitive animal rights militant now but I really think you’ve missed a trick not considering rescuing your next pup. You guys have proved yourselves such caring, wondering dog parents and you’d make a little rescue so happy. There are lots of Dachshunds in need at the moment and you could really use your platform to advocate for re-homing. The bond you have with rescues is unlike no other. Congratulations on Barkley, he’s beautiful. I just hurts my heart a bit that influencers keep lining the pockets of breeders when so many are in shelters
To each their own ….it’s really no one else’s business what they do. I get adopting is beautiful but commenting on it is also not necessary. Let people live without making them feel bad about their Own life choices.

as wonderful as lydia and ali are, they are not animal lovers. they love their pets, and that is it. i expect *nothing* from them in the light of actually being conscious about animals and how they go about introducing them into their home as pets. i gave up making comments like this years ago--it goes no where! for what it's worth, you're right, and i completely agree.
Speaking from rescuing dogs and owning puppies: rescue dogs are a huge amount of work and aren't for people with busy lifestyles (in my experience). They can be the best dogs ever but in a lot of cases you have to put in a lot of work to get there as most have behavioural issues and they're older.
She rescued something else and it wasn't for her and had to go back.. In all honesty she's a great owner to her new pooch and cat but still she's not overly good with animals. If you noticed in the other days vid she mentioned porter was digging through a blank to sofa, I don't think he was digging to sofa just digging to get comfy like most knowledgeable animal owners would know. In all honesty not rescuing animals is a better idea for people who aren't 100% confident. And I think that is Lydia, getting a dog from a breeder and not rescuing is more sensible and always comes with the back up that it can go back if it doesn't work out, in all fairness Lydia has done good research and found a good breed which suits her family.
It is a blessing the love that fur babies bring a home. They complete a home.

Congratulations on you new fur baby! My dogs are my world and every day they bring me so much joy and happiness. My dogs make me a better human! Barclay is stunningly gorgeous and I’m sure Porter will so love having a buddy to play with and go on exciting adventure walking with!
Definitely resonate with your feelings about Paris house, I can’t help but not enjoy a meal as much when the ambience isn’t there. Lighting and sound plays such an important role in the overall experience!

I adore when you show your walks! It is so beautiful where you live! Question : did you have to ask permission to the owners to walk among the fields or are they public lands?
We have public footpaths here in the U.K. which allow the public access, they crisscross the whole of the country for miles and miles throughout countryside, woodland and also includes many public costal footpaths so we don’t have to ask permission but are expected to be respectful to any farm animals or nature 😁

My grandma has a big German Shepherd puppy which was a lot of work but then she adopted another dog and she has entertained the puppy so much and made my grandmas work so much easier lol
Lydia, I love how you bring out the beautiful in whatever you film or choose to highlight. The images of England are so very dear to me as I'm from there originally but have spent most of my life in America now. I literally get emotional looking at my homeland through your lens and hear your words so perfectly describe what you're seeing, especially because I've seen it to. Thank you for that. High thin heels shoes require for woman to walk by placing weight onto toe part of the foot. Heavy footed walk more heel based will do that to the shoes - twist them.
Ok who else felt like we were the only ones in on the secret when Lydia went outside to talk to us in private? I can’t wait to move so that I can get a fur baby! We live in Montana and have 2 sausages! When I saw that you had gotten your first, I was so excited. I told my daughter, They’ll get another. You need to have two. That’s just the way it is with sausage dogs!
It’s a shame you have supported an unethical breeder, blue, Isabella and piebald dachshunds are not to the breed standard and are breed purely for there look/ unique colour which is very unfair on the dog, they are known to have awful health and skin conditions. I’m surprised someone with such a Big following failed to research this first and didn’t choose a dog from an ethical breeder or even better a rescue.
I thought same thing. I remember Lydia mentioned before getting Porter that she actually made a research and decided not to get a blue puppy because of the known issues.
Actually I know a lot of high class registered breeders who end up with a few piebalds, and they've always had the vet check absolutely everything and they piebalds always come out perfectly great, let's not ASSUME that lydia and Ali didn't research the breeder and the breeders reputablity.

@@kylieballard2123 Nobody assumes anything here. But in UK there is a special organisation called KC, which is devoted to dog health and welfare. If a certain colour is marked as not recognised by the breed standards, and there are specific reasons for that, I would be more likely to believe them, rather then “high class” so called breeders, whose job is literary is to sell dogs. They will always paint a beautiful picture for you, just to sell their product. With almost a million subscribers there comes a certain responsibility, especially when you literally are influencing other people. Oh my! The boys are sooo perfect together! I have two boys as well, but they’re shih tzus named Winston and Oliver. (Just turned one.) We had two boys before them named Bailey and Murphy. Having two males is such a fun dynamic! Loved this video sooo much! ❤️
