- Paul and Tiff get behind the wheel of two latest generation Aston Martins; the brand new 2018 Aston Martin Vantage and all new Aston Martin DB11 Volante - with a very surprising race track head to head ending with Paul and Tiff on an oval race circuit.
Both of these Aston Martins are now powered by the same AMG derived V8 twin-turbo engine and we see just how different these two cars were to drive.
Which would you take? The sharp-handling Veridian Green Aston Martin Vantage sports car, or the Skyfall Silver drop top DB11 Aston Martin Volante GT cruiser? Oh... and did you know what the "Mum Test" was, according to Dr Andy Palmer? ;)

new DBS for me tickes all the boxes. Vantage looks not up to AM standards inside and I also do not like convertible cars.
Vantage from the front looks like a new mx5, so neither. M3 for me...

Absolutely. Vantage headlights look like a 90s Mazda 323
it looks good overall but if one was behind me at a light i probably wouldnt know it was an aston martin. astons have a pretty distinct look and the new vantage strays from that a bit
Well the new Vantage has the more Bond DB10 (Spectre) headlights and overal looks Having it in Skyfall Silver means that you almost have a Bondcar of yourself. Hopefully it doesn't come with an Atmosphere button. XD
I was thinking the same thing. I wish you could have the DB11 front end and the Vantage rear end for the perfect looking automobile.

Have to agree with Tiff, the Vantage looks good. It starts to grow on you after a while. From the side, it kind of has an F-Type design feel to it.

Both of them are great especially because they have steering wheels. Steering wheels are just a great addition to the car overall, I'm amazed the designer took the time to add them

Not exactly what I had in mind when I requested you get Tiff something to chuck sideways guys! Get on the blower to Aston Martin Australia & have Tiff chase you in a DB11 around Bathurst in a Vantage! Tiff in an Aston with the inside front wheel off the ground going down through the dipper would be a sight to see! Only a bit over 3 weeks til the mountain roars into life 😎

I've recently found this channel, its great! Interesting, informative and amusing reviews. Its showing up 5th gear, which im glad is back on tv, but that just feels a bit old, its the same format as before. Keep up the great work on here, its the future!

The LACK of haptic buttons is a real bonus for the Vantage. As a driver's car - indeed ANY car - the focus should always be on the road and not piss-arseing around taking your eyes off the road to find them!

If you look each section of the car the DB11 look nicer but if you look at the whole package the Vantage look nicer. Honestly I don't like the head and tail lights of the Vantage but when you look at it as a whole package it somehow look nicer then the DB11. As for interior I think Vantage hands down better.
I must admit i can't wait for some amazing Vanquish that looks totally different.
Vanquish will be mid engine.
That opening is brilliant and what is completley wrong with social media!!! Love both cars also Aston Martin now but always talking about the engines although only mentioned briefly the fact they are produced by AMG and all the electronics are Mercedes-Benz. Tiff/Paul would you have a GTS or Vantage (forget badge).... talking drivers car?

I'm the complete opposite of Tiff, I didn't like the DB11 at first but now I kinda fell in love with it. But the Vantage... Nope, not my style, not an ugly car at all but not as elegant as I'd like an Aston Martin to be. I do love the color tho ;)

The front nose of the vantage are similar to the vulcan, unlike the traditional shape of aston martin on the db11. With the right headlights it might look even better.

I must agree, I'm not sure about both look. Half of me convinced because they are Aston Martin but half kept believing they are not quite right
A bit disappointing after watching 14 minutes and discovering that it was only a roadtest. It is great to see tiff back in new fifth gear and lovecars after these years but what i am really hoping to see is him pulling lap times on a track and doing a serious dynamical assessment of the vehicle beside a great sence of humor. But hey, never mind me. I wouldn´t be writing here if lovecars channel wouldn´t care about our opinions which in itself is very pleasing and unique to us however mean we might be. I think that all comes in good time in case of you two- keep up the good spirits and i keep on waiting for more great videos!

The front of Vantage looks to me like a Mazda MX5 front ... I like more the DB11 and the old Vantage.

Please get some better interior cameras and don’t use the go pro if your going for that tv looking shots and try to get a mic that you can hear the exhaust. Huge fan been subscribed since 10k and please keep tiff!
TV look on UA-cam budget = GoPro for in car shots! We're growing and adding to our equipment list as much as we can - but 4k GoPros for the in car stuff will be around for a while (unless we get some sponsorship!!). Not a fan of open-tops unless it's a proper supercar with a rigid shell i.e. 488 Spider or 570S Spider.
I'm not a big fan of the Vantage front end (it looks a bit like a Mazda MX5 Miata) I say DB11 front end with Vantage rear.
Front end of the new Vantage still looks like an old Mazda MX6.. Has a Japanese feel to the front, Sadly...
Haha yeah all I can see is MX6! The rest of it is drop dead gorgeous though...what a shame.

You do feel sorry for Aston Martin, everyone moaned when their previous generation followed the cookie cutter method of design, now every model has it's own unique look & people still aren't satisfied.

From the side Vantage ,DB11 AND DBS all look even more similar than the last cars. Not normally aspirated, terrible interiors, expensive for performance and quality and design good but nothing like the iconic cars they replace. Big fail = big depreciation, No waiting lists is proof ,unlike the old ones with two year waiting lists when new !!!!!
