I was told that Ellington NAMED "Isfahan" but did NOT compose it. The song was composed by Billy Strayhorn with the unexplained title "ELK". Ellington was assmbling a record-album of tunes dedicated to the Middle East and needed one more tune. He selected this tune and re-titled it "ISFAHAN" after the name of a small town, west of Tehran, Iran.
Isfahan lies to the south of Teheran, can hardly be called small with its 2 million citizens and is one of the most beautiful cities on earth, being the old capital of the Persian empire. But for the rest, your point stands 😉.
