John is so Florida. Just look at the guy haha. We have seen him a few times here in Tampa at the Hard Rock Casino. Seems like such a chill person. Thanks for the interview, Mark. Let me know if you make it to Florida on your golf travels and we can play World Woods!

I like the interview with the added silverware scrapping and clinking against plates sounds.

Best interview yet Mark. Love John Daly and all that he stands for. I get sick of 'corporate' taking over golf but the truth is that it is characters like Daly, Woods,Watson and others who have blazed a trail and got the more 'unlikely' of us into golf.
Wouldn't you just love to be in a town where John Daly has just won a tournament ! what a night out THAT would be. Love the Kerry Packer story............. but then , that's the way tycoons 'roll' I suppose. #monopolymoney

straight True Great post. I find myself conflicted sometimes, because I love golf, but hate almost all it has come to stand for. It's so easy for us swarthy blue-collar guys to root for Daly, and I hope more guys like him can crack that elitist glass ceiling.

Well done Mark - I know there's lots of jokes and whatever on here with people giving you stick, but that was really well managed. Interviewing is a lot harder than it looks, especially when its a golfing legend / one of your hero's. Fair play to you, the golf coach from Exeter done good.
Now... back to the piss taking... Badlylocks and the 3 hairs etc etc

I'll be you could spend all week with him and never hear the same story twice. What a great guy, so humble...a shame he never did better on tour. Why doesn't he play the web.com tour?

Never has wanted to. Travels around doing appearances and playing when he can. He just turned 49 so only 1 more year until the senior tour.

Brian Ford I hear what your saying, but 2 majors in a career I reckon could be classed as being equivalent or even better than say for 15 - 20 pga tour wins..

As Daly inferred, the problem with having a tournament, especially a Major tournament at the same venue every year leads to the resident club committee being elevated to a position way beyond their value or importance. It is probably the greatest hindrance to the development of the game. We see it in UK and Ireland regularly, it is a disease that has been slowly killing the game for decades, golf should be for all and all should be welcomed into it and made feel they belong, it should be a club, not a closed society, I've seen clubs where knowing the 'handshake' really made the difference.
