So many memories from this coarse , I lived 2 minutes from this historic coarse that brought a lot of the greats . Dad watching his golf games on tv was some of my best memories of him, we would watch this event and it was basically in our backyard . To my pops
Hands down the nice golfer of all time. When I was 14, he came to play in a tournament in Utah, called the champions challenge hosted by Johnny Miller. When I got to the course, the autograph session was done, but as I was walking to the 1st tee, I heard a cart coming down the cart path. At first I didn't notice him, but as he passed, I realized it was John Daly, so I ran after him yelling "John!" to my surprise he actually stopped and looked back. You would assume that a tour golfer would just keep driving after looking back and not seeing anyone he knew, or a staff member. Yet he looked back and waited for me to catch up. When I got up to him, I told him I was sorry, and that I knew the autograph session was over, but if he could please sign my event program, and again to my surprise he said sure. I just assumed thought he'd sign real quick and just drive off, instead he told me to hop on, and asked me how I was doing and asked if I was having a good time. Keep in mind I'm in shock and star struck because I was not only sitting next to one of my favorite players, I'm sitting next to one of the all time GREATS and living proof of a Cinderella story, and HE'S the one initiating the conversation. When we pulled up to the first tee, he signed my program, then reached in his bag and pulled out a glove and ball, signed them and thanked me for being a fan. Amazing amazing person.
Saw JD in my hometown Endicott, NY in 1992 at the now retired B.C. Open.... (Winner) Now the Champions play at the Dicks Open, which has officially been canceled this year due to Covid-19. Oh well. I feel privileged to see him win 28 years ago! Saw Langer win the Dicks a few yrs ago as well. Bob Papa, My Giants guy! 👊💙🇺🇸
@@alexsamain812 Since you're so good with numbers, why don't you tell me how many times they showed Fred Couples in those first 13 minutes? John Daly never had a higher score than Couples, yet they continually chose to broadcast Couples, as well as some others who went on to do nothing in the tournament. They only showed Daly when he made the long putt and was suddenly leading the tournament! What happened, did he suddenly sneak up the leaderboard by going 4-under or something on one hole? No. He was there all along and the show's director decided to follow others, or not to follow Daly at all, until it became impossible not to.
I noticed that too. I think Daly played in the morning on the first day, so they might not have had their cameras filming play until they went live for the TV coverage in the afternoon.

Jack, Gary and Lee - what you would give to be part of that flight. Simply incredible to see.
That's the real highlight in this video. Not to take away from the win, but to see those guys having a good time out there is great.

It took them nearly 13 minutes before they finally showed John D., despite his being near the top of the leaderboard before that. What's up with that?
its a 52 min vid

@@marcweeks9178 more big John the better. Watch for little John on the PGA tour in 5 years.

Nicklaus almost holes a pitch over a bunker at 28:30. Nicklaus and Player still making magical putts!
1991 Masters he was the 8th alternate and won. That's a Cinderella story.
Ian Woosnam ? 🤔

AMMMMMMERICA. I love you JJJJJJJJJJJJJohn!

Playing golf history book.......
I'm 12 minutes in, is John Daly in this video?
4:56 Langer has a very unique putting grip..

I love John Daly’s gambling habits.
How does Daly play with that swing?
Those are some strange putters..
Plays golf in the spirit that the game should be played in
Nice of Perry to give JD the stage 😒
42:51 ya boy tooted on tv xD
Why is Daly allowed to use a cart and no one else can?
Because he's John Daly, that's why.
I dont get why highlight videos are 75% putts. Just gets boring after a while.
Putt for dough
Everytime I see someone wear a US flag as clothing, I just think of that Bruce Springsteen song.
👍
3:47 in and haven't seen one shot by John. Who covered this, Golf Channel? 🤣🤣 Yeah I stopped watching about there.
His first win was on August 11, 1991, the PGA Championship. If this is his first win on the Champions tour then say so.
It's a champions tour channel, why would they comment about the pga tour? Maybe they should mention his first win as a junior?
Chill! 😅
OMFG!!!! Take some deep breathes, have a piece of quiche, some hot cocoa, and have a lie-down.
That was his first PGA tour win not his first professional win. If you’re going to pedantic make sure you are correct first 😂
