Gold Lion KT-88 - Russian re-issue of the legendary Genalex KT88. These guys rock... They've been working great in all applications we've tried them in, and haven't had a single complaint. Read web forums and you'll see tons of praise for this tube. Sound is beautifully balanced... airy highs, gorgeous mids, deep dynamic bass. I know we shouldn't care about looks... but who am I kiddin'... with the side getters and Genalex-inspired silkscreening... they look bitchin' too!
Great clarification. I bought a pair of Gold Lion KT88s and I'm impatient to reveive and test them!
Bought eight of these from Upscale Audio with their cryo treatment for my MC2152. Put them in and they sound great. Much fuller sound than the stock tubes IMHO. Thank you Kevin!

125 Southern NH how does it compare to the stock tubes? I have the same amp and I’m actually thinking of changing to these.
Indeed one of the better current production tubes , however nothing to do with the genuine original GEC KT88 .............witch is and was superior in tone, nuances and lifespan ....and that's a fact !
If i ever travel to the US,then i´m going to visit uncle Kev :-)

@@amritjanardhanan thanks man!! I'm into vintage audio...mostly solid state. But have a few tube pieces. Ive read up some and knew kt88s were used in hifi audio...but no clue these ones were so special. 4 of them sitting there randomly in box never used for a dollar a piece. When I looked them up I was obviously thrilled.
I only buy from uncle Kev all of my tubes. He backs up all the talk and even gives you advise and suggestions on any setup needs. All you guys are smoking something if you'd deal with him. He will even call you personally to answer questions and concerns.
on the box the Gold Lion has a label that says lp:66 - Gm 7,700. what does this mean and is this the best statistics possible?

I don't find the audio in this video to be very upscale...

Don't use these. I just screwed up my jcm800 Marshall with these shity tubes
the only 800 model than can take a KT88 is the Zakk Wylde, and the Kerry King models, you need a special transformer to run them. I have heard these tubes before and they are amazing sounding. especially in high end audio. You need to run EL34, KT77, or 6L6 in your JCM or have a modded transformer that can handle the current. there are not bad tubes. It's just the wrong application for them. Or you could get a bugera amp with auto bias and run them then.
The tubes aren't shit, your power transformer cannot supply the current for the filaments and the plate dissipation is taxing the output transformer.
