You know what is sad for years i thought Story of Seasons was trying to be a copy harvest moon but it turns out they are the real harvest moon makers....how sad.
Leon The Great Harvest Moon is NOT dying! The Harvest Moon games being published are NOT the original Harvest Moon people grew up with. They’re now being developed by Natsume (who were once responsible to localize all original Harvest Moon games to the west), who only owns the rights of the english name. Marvelous! are the original Japanese developers of HM, and are now localizing the game outside of Japan under its new name ‘Story of Seasons’.
Almost 43, with three kids and with an eight hours and a half schedule Monday to Saturday sometimes even have to work some Sundays and still manage to play every single day since I was dating my wife, there is no excuse for not being able to play, if you are a true gamer you will find a way/time to play, don't see my life without a videogame, that idea never crossed and will never cross my mind.
I definitely like Trio of Towns over the original Story of Seasons. However, I think the marriage candidates in the original Story of Seasons are much better.
agreed, if only they had unique dialogue. i stopped playing that game after like 2 hours because everytime i visited mistel he'd just say ''Do you have any interest in antiques? If so, you should come visit my store. I'm quite certain you'll find something that catches your fancy there.'' i couldnt stand the fact that all the NPCs sounded like broken robots repeating the same line nonstop, need more substance than that which is why TOT is my fav. at least yuzuki and inari are cuties, wayne is cute too but i dislike the cowboy hat
I didn't mind the jobs part. If anything, they act as a quick travel feature that pays you. Of course when I say quick travel, I mean it doesn't eat up anything on the game clock. So, if you need to get to one of the other towns before the stores there close, pick a job to get there and you have more time to get to where you need to go.
I was never too fussed about the quick travel feature. I'll admit it's a convenience, but otherwise doing the jobs got really repetitive. I was grasping for straws to find things I didn't like.
Seraph at least Ford payed you a lot more for his jobs which I found really good compared to how much the other villagers pay you for doing their jobs.
Get Harvest moon a new beginning. You can costumise the town however way you want to and you can also rename the village too. Also Story of seasons trio of towns is good too. Or you can try playing the older harvest moon games friends of mineral town, back to nature, save the homeland, Harvest moon 64 or another wonderful life.
This one sounded way better than the newer harvest moon game, sky tree village. I'm actually considering to pick this one up! It's been years since I played a farming simulator(?) game so it will be a nice change up. :3
Story of Seasons is the "official" Harvest Moon series, called Bokujo Monogatari in japan and created by Marvelous Interactive. Natsume localized the games for most of the series' lifetime as Harvest Moon in the west, but recently Marvelous and Natsume split apart. Natsume still owns the rights to the name Harvest Moon, so they started making their own knock-off versions of the Bokujo Monogatari games, while the real series has changed to being licensed as Story of Seasons now.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, it’s infuriating the sheer amount of people that don’t know Story of Seasons is Harvest Moon and simply sweep it under the rug as some knockoff, when the current Harvest Moon games are the real knockoffs.
I totally agree with you on that! I seem to get drawn into this one more than the first story of seasons. If anything Trio of towns is definitely my favorite story of seasons game. Pioneers of olive town has nothing on this.
Been trying other SoS/HM games over time and I keep going back to replay Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns. I just honestly liked the music, marriage candidates, and most of all the 2D art style. Looking at Trio of Towns, the ballooned crop management (putting large bulky looking plats down and harvesting multiple at a time) just pumps up the numbers to make if feel exciting gathering 10x of something, but then you have to go deliver 50x of something. It just shifts the numbers to "feel" satisfying, until you realize what's going on.
Do you recommend trio of towns? I love tale of two towns and I’m looking into more games similar to this. I tried stardew valley and although it’s amazing, it just doesn’t have the same feel. I love the 2D art style of it but I’m not a big fan of 3D. Are there any games you recommend?
@@dovetwo a late answer, but i would recommend Grand Bazaar, also for the DS. It's the closest to an extension of Tale of Two Towns that someone can get.
I like the game (brought it a while ago) but I have some complains honestly: First is more a nitpick but I don't like the models for the villagers. Compared to the first harvest moon and tree of tranquility it feels like a massive downgrade. Even more the eyes look so wonky. The animation in festivals and cutscenes felt very rushed and shaky. The dancing on festivals is so weird. Even in the first entries at least they had other things to take your mind off it. The music is more annoying. Comparing the music value of this game with trio of towns is a high downgrade. Most cutscenes have the same music over and over again it makes it boring and doesn't catch your interest unlike the other entries. There's way too many cutscenes. I get is good to have them for more involvement but when the animation isn't as elaborated as in another games or the music is best or even more eye catching models it only comes as boring. Even more when I was in the middle of a job and the scene made me lose it cause it took a heck lots of time. So yeah: Animation 5/10 Music 7/10 Characters 10/10 Gameplay 10/10 (taking out the more annoying building mechanic being almost give me your first born) Also why they don't give us more good looking MC?
yoroshiku Neverland went into bankruptcy... Yoshifumi Hashimoto(marvelous) was trying to bring back the rune factory series since it had so much fame among the players, but I think "Popolocrois" was their failed attempt at recreating it. It used to be Rune Factor: A fantasy harvest moon, but since Natsume owns rights to the game title, it would now be a Story of seasons fantasy, which is the full name of Popolocrois. They did a really bad job, if that even was the attempt to it...I wonder if natsume will attempt to make a Rune Factory, I just want a Rune Factory! Is that so much to ask for!? Developer: ...*yes*... Me: I know!!! *cries*😭

Miguel C Yes...for a rumor since 2012 which was when the last rune factory(4) came out. Trust me, I've red up on it, btw, another page said that it was going to be marvelous's attempt at a rune factory game. The game Re:legend is the closest thing to RF but, it only just got approved, so I don't think it will be out anytime soon.
From HM, to story of seasons, to stardew, this is my favorite game and I've played all of them. I liked animal parade too. Just wish there were more events and child/husband and/or wife events after marriage. After marriage it feels like the game is done and I hate that, I wish there were some events that were 2nd or 3rd year only, or at least some to extend the games life, or have 100+ or at least 100 to unlock. This has had more events than most farming sims, and I loved it. I love the crop system, but I wish some of the upgrades had use [like the pet playground the pets don't interact with on your farm] or you unlock a 'park' in the chinese esque area but no one uses it... XD There are so many suggestions I have to improve these games. I would be screwed for graphics, but it makes me want to learn gamedev coding and making a farming game myself, even for the sake of just playing a new farm sim to enjoy and share with others I need mooore
I have lots of nostalgia around the first newly named Story of Seasons due to it being in the middle of my "golden" high school years, when i had tons of free time... but Trio of Towns is objectively better by mechanics and pure amount of content. The biggest downside for ToT for me is the awful forced cowboy themes early on (you're stuck looking like farmer joe's nephew for the first 3 seasons), which is a personal subjective dislike for a theme so that says a lot about how there's not much else to gripe about
Just bought it!! First I ordered a fake one called 'Harvest Moon'. i didnt know they changed the name. So I canceled that just on time and now i'm super exited to play story of seasons:)

For actual plot, it’s farming, farming, farming. If you’re looking for plotline, Save the Homeland/Hero of Leaf Valley, Tree of Tranquility, Animal Parade and A New Beginning are the games to play. I would add Tale of Two Towns, but the plot is super cheesy.

Those weeding jobs are nice. You keep 10+ weeds that you can use to make fertilizer
Or if you spend your time mining, you can afford to just buy them outright with the income you get from selling ores.
Seraph I don't think you can buy mega fertilizer... at least I can't buy it yet

2PACA OMG
Have they ever done any Wii or pc games that I can buy either in the UK or online?
Popolocrois and SOS don't really have anything to do with each other. It had the SOS added in the US as a nod to them.
It's got SoS in the title because rune factory was "a fantasy harvest moon" but due to licensing they couldn't use that name and subtitle anymore. So to keep the naming convention it became "fantasy SoS".
Wait, did the western release not have Ha,taro in it? Or did the reviewer just not mention it?
Hamtaro was not in the western release. When I reviewed the game, I only reviewed the base game. I didn't have access to any DLC at the time.
Does anyone know if this is coming to Europe?
You know what? All the harvestmoon game is fun. But.. the problem is, did u have enough time for play that? Lmao xD

@@cottoncandiez8872 Best friend marriage is honestly a super cute concept

Nah, it's pretty fun while also being chaotic. I swear every day it feels like I'm back at work doing everything I can to make ends meet. But at the same time having fun.
cRaZy inSaNiTy stardew is just a rip off of harvest moon and story of seasons.
cRaZy inSaNiTy Stardew Valley? Perfect? Oh, boy. Stardew Valley is a shameless ripoff of Harvest Moon. What the fuck are you hollerin’ about?
little boy look up the release dates of harvest moon and stardew Valley
I agree with you when I played trio town the first time I hate it so much because the beginning of the game is so slow & suck at the same time & I’m more mad at the other marriage candidates don’t listen to ford during pregnancy event & I’m glad I’m married to ford instead of other marriage candidates & I finished that game in the summer time & this game is not my favorite game but it is my less favorite game & Stardew valley & Story of Seasons Pioneers of Olive Town are very good game in their own way
