Those were some nice fish, Darren! Even the "snakes" are good pickled, if there's no size limit out there! 26 inches is the minimum down by me, but up north there is no size limit.
Thanks Stephen, I have yet to try pickled Pike! Yeah most of our Pike lakes don’t have limits on size.
@@darrensnorthernlife1184 of you like pickled anything then pickled pike is right up near the top of the list! No need to fillet the bones out either, they dissolve!

@@darrensnorthernlife1184 cool, not much difference then I'm sure. I've only smoked suckers. I do pickle whitefish as well, their bones are tough to fillet out so I keep the boneless sections to fry up and pickle the bone parts!
I think I remember you doing an open water segment on fishing pike with hotdogs but do you ever use them in the winter? I hear they work great!
I haven't tried that yet, but I've heard that works as well! Maybe another video is in store for that😉

@@darrensnorthernlife1184 Yeah we usually hit Big Whiteshell lake in mid to late March. Biggest was a 44 incher on a tip up with a quick strike and smelt.
Oh wow, I’m actually hoping to hit big white next week. Maybe I can find some Pike.
