I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been thinking this. I don't blame the developers for dumbing it down, because _on paper,_ Nu Gundam looks _overpowered._ But they definitely went a little overkill.
I think it would make sense for the funnels to miss if you dash away at the right time but still hit if you’re just walking. It promotes more thoughtful counterplay, and lets nu confirm players who aren’t focusing.
Nu is mid range so everyone at mid range don't dash unless melee go after them that mean funnels are useless most of the time it ok if it miss at tap dash but funnel miss shot at speed faster than walk so it miss most shot at dom hover speed :/
This video couldn't have gone up at any other perfect time cause I was feeling this same thing while playing last night. I think the main problem is lack of damage on the primary and this problem isn't exclusive to Nu. I get it if they don't want a ton of long range high burst damage in the game coupled with his abilities but really he only has one ability and it's easy to avoid and already kind of jank and it just ends up making him weaker all around. An easy fix is to just buff his damage, 200 on body, 300 on head AT LEAST and nerf the damage on the funnels a bit and also give him another dash. Marasai and Turn A also share these problems of low damage in a mid range poke game.
I just want his G Move to feel more impactful. Its too small for teammates to use, easy to just rush inside of and attack Nu directly, doesnt last long, actively lowers his dps output and breaks pretty easily if the enemy team focuses it. It feels like for a few seconds you turn into a worse ulting Sazabi.
I think they were expecting the Funnels to deal more damage when they settled on the damage for Nu’s Beam Rifle. It wouldn’t hurt for the Funnels to hit just the Legs when you dash or move to avoid getting absolutely destroyed but for the Nu player to still get consistency for landing shots and using the Funnel ability. I do agree the Ult seems too out of place for Nu. They aren’t a Tank suit but they aren’t a Frag-heavy suit like Barb or Sniper since they seriously lack damage capability. It feels like Nu is a weird hybrid jack-of-all-trades, master of none suit that could be a tank, but has to sacrifice the funnels capability for big damage in exchange for survivability and has to play weirdly off-point or fight to be a threat since they can’t engage like Sazabi or GM, making the Nu Gundam with it’s health pool combined with it’s size and low speed a really hard choice to pick when they don’t do anything impactful enough compared to the suits who specialize in the things Nu tried to do all at once.
Nu seriously bad vs MS that have high mobility Probably because also in the anime, some MS can be shown evading funnel left and right Probably they made it with Sazabi in mind to homage the anime, Sazabi is big, he has 1 dash (and 1 fly) My funnel keep getting him Other than that, Nu's funnel that i always use is good for finishing disabled enemies For the buff, probably the rate of fire of the funnel increased a little So it will hit, but still not 100% hit Or just make new system, His main gun does 3 hit (like asshimar) if right clicked aim Because in the anime, his rifle have 2 mode, 3 hit, and 1 hit like in the game

The way I play now with nu gundam (which I seldom do despite it being my fav ms of all time) is just use fin funnel whenever its off cooldown and spam auto's for headshot cuz usually when people first starts an engagement they will not start dashing right away when they fight back, so the funnel still at least does some damage. Considering every other mid-range spammer has either have influencial ult or powerful aoe ability to dish out a huge chunk of damage/crowd control to complement your auto(gundam's ult and hyper hammer, turn a's MOON MOTHERFUCKING BEAM BUTTERFLY and overhead throw (albeit inconsistent), marasai's aoe stun ult + burst of its hook, gm's bomb and ult that covers an area for a long time), nu gundam just really doesnt do much to help it secure the kill or complement its auto. Maybe change the cap of marks to 1 mark, but turn fin funnel into like 5 seconds cooldown, and also bump up the bazooka blast radius but remove the marking
Nu Gundam needs polish tbh. Its rocket FORCES a slide on an otherwise "made for medium range" unit, but is also your only aoe damage. Since you only have 1 boost charge, your speed is very hindered and may even rely on having to use the rocket for an extra escape when you wanted to save it for damage. I would want them to make bazooka have a "neutral" where you don't slide awkwardly directions or forced out of your own position, Nu is made to make an opponent "move", that sniper that's camping? It stays still and it'll die, Marasai or charging Barbatos? Stack funnels and force them out of those sneaky spots. The funnels feel as if they simply don't shoot fast enough or if they wanted the ability to dash and avoid them, then the damage for each shot should be significantly higher with how often it misses. They also don't continue firing after you die but activated them, not to mention your G maneuver while a good powerful team shield.... doesn't block fire, melee, A-turn's G maneuver, splash damage... AND it reduces you to 1 passive funnel that you can "speed up" on attacks. I'm not saying it should have more offensive capability, but I do think there should be a little better defense on it outside of the HP it has when its restricted to the G maneuver unlike Sazabi. Nu plays as the "you can't come closer" unit while Sazabi plays the frontliner in the same way, but can be a guiding shield. Simply put, Sazabi is an offensive unit wanting you to throw your axe and dash for headshots or corner with shields... While Nu is a more defensive unit, its hitbox is HUGE but if it stacks funnels and aims well, it can finish off targets that go around corners with the funnels. However the deployment speed isn't the issue, its how fast or short the range is from each funnel to the target the Nu Gundam picks... they're slow/far even if you just hover slightly and not boost. Lastly, its hip fire is atrocious to where you would only ever aim down the sights. Its weakness is very long range like snipers and close range where dancing in front of it and melee's can avoid the targeting and the funnels, AS well as your aim. One suggestion I have outside of all the minor things I wish they could polish is one I hear from a lot.... Why not a beam saber melee? A simple knockback slice that only works in melee range but knocks opponents back. That way you have a "get away" option, a 2nd optional utility like bazooka since you could use it to deal damage or get someone away from you.... And so far they have refused to give us a proper beam saber on any Mobile Suit so far, Sazabi gets their scanner.... Just give us one beam saber swipe eh? Its in Nu Gundam secret MVP ~.~;

The damage number example isn't great because it doesn't take into account rate of fire, which Nu Gundam has a high fire rate compared to the other semi-auto suits (outside of Turn A I guess, but spam with that character is rarely good)
They could make it like titanfall 2 tone. Hit 3 times and funnel can be activated as heat seeking missile. Increase damage since 3 hit actually hard to land. Max to 2 mark The bazooka don't damage but put 1 marker and scan it
I think hyperion gundam took what Nu gundam should've. Nu gundam in anime had an auto fire weapon, a shield, and a barrier(Not an ult btw, more like amuro's improvisation). And them deciding to give none of this to Nu gundam is just disrespectful for the UC fans. What I think is that fin funnel barrier should be a normal skill and it should use psyco frame as an ult, it should be something like Zenyatta(Overwatch)'s ult.

Naw F Nu Gundam! I played Sazabi and in 1 game,i popped my ult thinking "Oh yeah imma get point " not realizing that Nu popped his as well. My funnels targeted his barrier and almost immediately i started to die😂
I have to disagree. Nu Gundam is one of the fastest characters in the game and is very strong. Recently Nu was buffed to have 177 damage as opposed to 160 when the G Maneuver is active. A double tap headshot from Nu deals 532 damage, with Nu’s fast fire rate it is extremely doable. All of the suit’s damage comes from the Gun. The funnels aren’t meant for a guaranteed form of damage, they boast excellent damage because their existence alone is a threat to enemy mobile suits. Their main usage is to pressure enemies and to control space. Funnels will force enemy mobile suits to move, allowing for more opportunity to lay additional damage with its gun. The funnels are a zoning tool, but they can kill on occasion. Another usage is to secure kills on any knockdowns. The bazooka rocket’s splash range is a tad bit weak but it’s not a bad tool at all. Direct hits deal 300 whereas splash deals 188. The Bazooka also refills dash meter upon usage, you’re meant to use G-Dashing and the Bazooka interchangeably to stay mobile. The suit is difficult to learn but the pay off is great.
yeah Nu is underpowered it required a good aiming to make it work but for that point other ms still done it better than Nu because their skill work perfectly unlike Nu Fin Funnel usually work on first encounter you send it when you see your target while burst shot at them funnels gonna hit them before they think they need to retreat .if wait for stack usually it just wasted
Not making excuses for the devs but I think Nu's rifle is weaker per shot is because it has a high ROF but I do agree it is slightly underpowered because it means you have to expose yourself longer which means higher risk of retaliatory fire from opponents. Another thing is Nu sucks being in the front so I play him as a rear support like I would with Unicorn b/c Nu has weak escape options (1 dash and Ass bazooka) and add on to the fact that he has such a large hit box so it's hard not to miss your shots on Nu.
It's like they got nu Gundam and unicorn Gundam confused with each other. Why does unicorn Gundam have an ult that pushes people away and only has 800 health despite being mid/close ranged, and a passive that's supposed to constantly heal you and your teammates. But nu Gundam has an ult that you need to get close with to use, his other ability has no splash dmg despite being a rocket, and has 1200 health despite everything about him needing to be mid/long range? All they need to do is fix the funnel consistency, buff the nu Gundam gun dmg,change the health values between the two, add another dash to nu Gundam, and then change the ults between the two and that's it. They'd make a lot more sense and be a lot better.
I agree with everything except Nu gundam’s rocket. It deal splash but the enemy team basically needs to be hugging one another for it to deal splash. Also having it only deal 100 damage is so underwhelming. There’s times I’m playing Nu and it feels like I’m about to ko another suit and use my hyper bazooka and it never fully takes them out. The only thing saving the bazooka is the fact you basically get a free dash out of it with no real penalty to your fuel bar. I think a rework is in order, make him have a full auto close range weapon, bigger ammo pool, buff the bazooka, buff the fins, and maybe change the ULT. I remember wanting to buy Nu so damn bad because I thought he looked cool and the fact I kept getting my ass handed to me by other Nu’s. I regret my decision and I wish I went with Unicorn instead

Nu really only works as a support dps, his hitbox is too big, he's too slow and his damage too low for him to actually win any 1v1's unless the other person is a gm sniper that refuses to ads, but his ult can be broken in the bomb stages. Honestly I forget it does damage at all most of the time because the funnels are so inconsistent. That said hyperion can do basically the same thing and it's not an ult and has alot more survivabilty than Nu. He needs a rework cause right now he's pretty bad compared to the other paid/unlockable suits.

Dashes plus movement techs are good for dodging funnels which inherently makes them inconsistent. There are good points to argue for both dodgeable and undodgeable funnels, but if it was up to me I would make it more like the Tone mech from Titanfall 2 where 3 hits puts one full mark on enemies and homing rocket pods go after any fully marked targets. Make funnels not work at all until they are marked and make it to where it takes 2-3 shots or one bazooka (which should be splash) generated a mark and the funnels travel more slowly to the marked targets but deal a set amount of damage much higher than 50 and can't be avoided unless you use a total invulnerability move like the zakus have. And ult should be shield plus marks are generated with only one shot
I feel like his headshot should instamark units and still feel like his gun should do more damege because even if the funnels do a lot of damege most people dodge them 90% of the time. I also feel like he needs a shield or something to reduce damege because only his ultimate does that so his role as a tank kinda losez perpouse cuz he lit dies so ez compared to most units. Finaly buff his bazooka to actualy do damege and radius as well as instamark units so u can headshot once and then bazooka to instantly funnel somebody and move on. Edit: I think its fine to make Nu have an inescapeble execute bacuse that will only work in 1v1s wich is less than 40% of the time zo its ok i think similar to Marasai whose hook only realy works in 1v1s so i think its ok to make him strong in those cases and then make him more well rounded so he can play better with his team like the bazoka so he can bazoka someone and leave the rest to his team.
I think Nu is not the type of suit to just attack or defending, he sucks on both sides. But i think the only good thing is that his funnels are pretty cool.

I think the max number of funnels should always be shot, and the number of marks increase the duration of time they barrage their target.
Maybe if we were to remove damage fall off and lowered the damage of the funnels and as a trade off increase the accuracy of the funnels.

Honestly I forget it does damage at all most of the time because the funnels are so inconsistent. That said hyperion can do basically the same thing and it's not an ult and has alot more survivabilty than Nu.
He needs a rework cause right now he's pretty bad compared to the other paid/unlockable suits.
Nu is a menace when at mid range and can 1 v1 almost all suits consistently he is easy pickings for marasai dont think I ever missed a hook on nu.
Actually he loses ALL 1v1’s I beat him with every character cuz he beam rifle is weak, his bazooka sucks and funnels don’t hit shit

Half the suits in the game absolutely destroy Nu 1v1... You're playing against some veggies if you're not getting punished 1v1 as Nu
Dashes plus movement techs are good for dodging funnels which inherently makes them inconsistent. There are good points to argue for both dodgeable and undodgeable funnels, but if it was up to me I would make it more like the Tone mech from Titanfall 2 where 3 hits puts one full mark on enemies and homing rocket pods go after any fully marked targets. Make funnels not work at all until they are marked and make it to where it takes 2-3 shots or one bazooka (which should be splash) generated a mark and the funnels travel more slowly to the marked targets but deal a set amount of damage much higher than 50 and can't be avoided unless you use a total invulnerability move like the zakus have. And ult should be shield plus marks are generated with only one shot
I feel like his headshot should instamark units and still feel like his gun should do more damege because even if the funnels do a lot of damege most people dodge them 90% of the time. I also feel like he needs a shield or something to reduce damege because only his ultimate does that so his role as a tank kinda losez perpouse cuz he lit dies so ez compared to most units. Finaly buff his bazooka to actualy do damege and radius as well as instamark units so u can headshot once and then bazooka to instantly funnel somebody and move on.
Edit: I think its fine to make Nu have an inescapeble execute bacuse that will only work in 1v1s wich is less than 40% of the time zo its ok i think similar to Marasai whose hook only realy works in 1v1s so i think its ok to make him strong in those cases and then make him more well rounded so he can play better with his team like the bazoka so he can bazoka someone and leave the rest to his team.
I think Nu is not the type of suit to just attack or defending, he sucks on both sides. But i think the only good thing is that his funnels are pretty cool.
