It really bums me out knowing we won't get anymore Cavill Superman. This looks exactly like Superman to me. The suit. The musculature. I love it.

I think what looks weird with the full body Cavill Superman is simply the angle we are looking at his face. When you see him in photos, it's always straight on, but the statue his head is titled down, so it's an angle of his face we don't normally see or are not used to seeing him. People's facial features become distorted at different angle. Otherwise, I think it's pretty dead on. As someone whose done a extremely detailed portrait of his Superman, I think it looks great.

Best look at the JND Superman so far!! Finally someone who doesn't have super harsh lighting which causes strong shadows and over exposed areas which lead to too many contrasting points. Both portraits look phenomenal in your shots!
I know you didn't like the regular as much but for me it looked really great and I personally prefer it over the laser eyes exclusive.

i think it looks great. totally see Henry Cavill. even the real actor with a different expression will make them look off from what you think they should look like. i see a tremendous amount of detail and quality. by far more life like than any prime one Cavill superman piece ive ever seen. and that base is the most elaborate JND ive ever see. i think the gold accent really pops and looks amazing. agree with others that how you kept the suspense up to reveal the portrait was really cool.
It looks exactly like Henry Cavill, the face is a little slimmer or out of sync so it portraits an alien being better which i like very much. Awesome

That's pretty slick to be honest. Henry in the photos compared to the statue is more mild looking, while this one seem to be ready to battle. (serious) But, I like it better.

My first reaction seeing his face revealed was '' HOLY CRAP THATS CAVIL, IT LOOKS AMAZING '' . So I don't see anything off as you said here, imo it looks exactly like Cavil does.

Cheekbones. All because of the cheekbones. On laser eyes they are much more correct. In the training portrait, they made a slight shading, thereby stretching him out and making him thinner.
that is too bad. the portrait could have been nearly perfect with a little adjustment.
Thank you very much for this unboxing/review! I enjoyed a lot, especially the comparison with the Prime 1 version. I just miss to see it side by side with the JND Wonder Woman as well, though!
my pleasure! ah yes, i didn't compare it to any other JND pieces. didn't want the video to be too long either but will see how they make Batfleck to complete the trio.

This guy has the best statue collection. I found his channel as I was getting out of the statue game. I’m selling all my marvel, MOTU, and robocop collection. Statues have become absolutely ridiculously expensive. I can afford them if I wanted to continue collecting but at some point, at least for me, it didn’t make sense anymore.

It’s not off, just looks like he is in a ‘darker’ mood. Like when he just got revived and turned on the rest of them.
Badass statue
How do you take care for a piece like this? Do they get damaged in a humid room? There are a few pieces being sold in my country. I live in the tropics so weather here can be hot during the summers. Although my room has air conditioning I use whenever it gets really hot.

From the side headsculpt looks great. From the face the likeness is off, yes
it is too bad. i really wanted them to nail the look.
i much prefer the relaxed one, and looks perfectly like Cavill
Another second feeling is that the chin is more elongated than it should be. The Cavill has almost rectangular facial features and jaw. Here he is thinner and elongated. He should have stronger cheekbones.
The jawline made the laser eyes more of a resemblance
Thanks for the review, Personally, I own the JND superman too, Guess it is much better seeing in person and the suit, thanks JND did adjust the painting and better than prototype. For the likeness, I guess, JND always go for something different to stand out, like they pick the rare expression to match their landing pose design, therefore, might be the reason, it is a bit not that "Henry". Overall, agreed with you, I would say it is about 85% for the normal head!!!!
it could be bc of the expression that is throwing the likeness off too. the best likeness i have seen is from Infinity Studio with their first Cavill life size bust. even that, has no expression.

This is hands down in my opinion perfection, if I had a complaint I would say that he shouldn't have an s-curl that should be brushed back but other than that it's perfect !
Conclusion: Better than the P1S Superman, but neither are perfect.
I'm a JND statue collector myself and I think headsculpt is just not their strength. Great detail, but lacks likeness. Their John Wick's likeness is also far behind when comparing to Blitzway.
i agree with you. i see the improvements on the base and they have shown us that they can sculpt resins equal to or better than some other companies that's been in the game for a long time.
I like it, would be a dream buy for me.

yep, i think that is it. the face is too slim, even too small for the body.
It’s the eyes, I think. When you can’t see the eyes (like in the laser eye version) it’s easier to sell the illusion. It’s like…did you see The Flash movie? When Nicolas Cage shows up? For a second there, when you couldn’t see his eyes cause he was shooting lasers, I was like “yea, that’s Nic Cage.” But then when he stopped shooting lasers and you saw his CG fake eyes I was like “nope, that is not a human person at all. Illusion is gone.” Maybe the same kinda thing is happening here…?
The problem with the head is the forehead, to long if you take a pic of the head and reduce the forehead it looks dead on ! btw love this channel amazing collection ! big hello from Dominican Republic !
appreciate it! the forehead is just a bit long but i think the main problem is the face. it's too skinny even for the body.

I think that the laser eyes 👀 portrait is a better headsculpt 🤷 It looks much more detailed and the paint application seems much more deliberate. That's a great looking headsculpt 👍 If JND studios released a civilian Clark Kent in casual clothing like they did with Bruce Wayne, I think that the neutral headsculpt would look better on that body 🎉😊 Good video 📹 😀

On another note specific to the statue. I love Henry’s portrayal of Superman on the big screen. That being said I think the statue is amazing, just not $3000. I looked at some other sites and it’s going for $3000 in the U.S. also. Just don’t think it’s worth the price. I would step to that around $1500 but thats it. Great review and you still rock the best statue collection. I’m getting out of the game but still love watching your unboxings.

They have no likeness license, so they sculpted a nearly identical Cavill. Quite similar to the original but with barely enough differences to avoid a lawsuit. For that kind of money, I'd expect a 100% Cavill sculpt.
I can envision a specific thing that could be implemented which will be technologically difficult, exspensive yet amazing.

The sculptor took a bit or artistic license and parted the hair on the correct, comic-accurate side, as opposed to how the movie stylist had it parted.
Parted this way, the hair creates another little 's', which is why it drove me nuts in the films seeing his hair parted on the wrong side.

I think it is a fantastic piece, I love the suit, the textures look amazing.
With regards to the regular portrait, I feel like it is the eyes that are making it look a little off.
When you put the two heads next to eachother in the review, I moved my finger against the screen. When I covered the top half and could only see the nose and mouth, it 100% looks like Henry. When you cover the bottom half and only see the eyes and head, it doesn’t.
I still think it is a great piece but the price tags of JNDs for me are just too high. I live in the UK so by the time I add import tax, it would be close to $3800.
It's close enough that it absolutely could not be anyone else BUT Henry Cavill. Especially in proper lighting here 12:12
Laser eye portrait looks absolutely great but the normal portrait is definitely not for the price you pay. It's maybe 70% for me. Thanks for the awesome video Art.

Everything looks great, however, I think the blue in the suit is too light, it should be way more of a darker blue, hence that's why the muscle wash lines look way to dark. Nevertheless, great figure overall.
Tbh I think they got the hairline perfect. Cavill never had the best one anyway😬

Detail is insane, but they've mixed his face with JL resurrection scene where he was a little more gaunt, and his suit, which is a little mix of Wheadons JL and MoS.
Price like this is why I do custom collectibles. I don’t have this kind of disposable income. Ofcourse I have a sculpture degree. I could just sculpt it myself

I think that the regular portrait has a slimmer jaw than the bust, henry cavill possess a very wide jaw and in the laser eyes portrait his expression bulks up the jaw to an appropriate amount, the henry cavill likeness is all there but the slimmer jaw gives it a little bit of uncanny valley feel to it.
The best Superman I've ever seen. JND's addition of the curl is also the best thing ever, unlike Snyder's bald Supe.

I’m sorry but JND blows Prime 1 out of the water. It’s by far the best Cavill likeness done especially with silicone and glass eyes and hair. How can portrait where his face is deformed with grimace be 97 and regular portait is 85? I think both portraits are spot on and in person the regular Cavill portrait is fantastic.

it looks a smidge like Matt Bomer is in the face, which is very slightly narrower than Cavill, and the most important thing is... there is no nuance of kindness.
Henry Cavill always looks kind even in the worst, darkest situations. It's in the eyes and his mouth. This model... didn't capture that.
9:38 his head is slightly too small in proportion to his body. If you look at the real pictures, you see his head is bigger. Especially looking at this angle, you can see his head is too small 9:46 .. BUT still looks incredibly real.

I held off on ordering this due to likeness issue. I agree with pretty much all of what you said, except the P1 suits look more accurate. JND looks more like a comic with it's overly defined look. I just got WW and wanted to complete the trinity when Bats comes out and replace my P1 1/2 set, but seeing this I might just keep those 1/2s.
It looks really great. Sometimes Henry Cowell doesn't look like Henry Cowell in real life. We all slightly have a change in appearance as we get older. It is natural but does the JND Portrait of Superman look like Henry Cowell? The answer is Yes. You can definitely see the resemblance of the actor on the portrait. Really well done sculpt, so congrats on getting it. Would I spend that kind of money on one statue. Yes but it has to be something I deeply care about. Unfortunately I can't afford it at this time. i totally agree with you here. we don't look like ourselves from different angle. it's just that we are accustomed to Henry Cavill look in Justice League movie alone.
