  • This is day 1 of our Madmaheshwar Yatra.
Shri Madmaheshwar also known as The Second Kedar among the Panch Kedars of Uttarakhand. The trek of Madmaheshwar begins from Ransi which is a small village near Ukhimath.
Madhyamaheshwar is not easily accessible by road. To reach Madmaheshwar first you have to reach Ukhimath. And from Ukhimath you have to go to Ransi. The trekking route begins from Ransi Village.
In this vlog we will reach Ukhimath Via Haridwar, Rishikesh, Devprayag, Srinagar and Rudraprayag.
Devprayag is the place where the Alaknanda (Coming from Satopant Glacier near Badrinath) and Bhagirathi (Coming from Gomukh/Gangotri) Rivers unite to form the divine River Ganga. Devprayag is the last pryag in the Punch Pryags.
Rudraprayag is the forth pryag where River Mandakini (Coming from Kedarnath) merges with River Alaknanda (Coming from Badrinath).
Ukhimath is a small town and a Hindu pilgrimage site in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand in India. It is situated at an elevation of 1,311 meters and at a distance of 41 km from Rudraprayag.
During the winter, the Utsava Idols from the Kedarnath Temple, and Madmaheshwar Temple are brought to Ukhimath and worshipped here for six months. Ukhimath can be used as center destination for visiting different places located nearby, The Madmaheshwar Temple, The Tungnath Temple/Chandrashila Peak and Deoria Tal (a natural fresh water lake) and many other picturesque places. According to Hindu Mythology, the wedding of Usha (Daughter of Banasura) and Aniruddha (Grandson of Lord Krishna) was solemnized here. By name of Usha this place was named as Ushamath, now known as Ukhimath. King Mandhata had performed severe penances to Lord Shiva here. During the winter's, the Kedarnath and Madmaheshwar Temples are closed due to heavy snowfall in the region. As a result, the Utsava Idols of Kedarnath and Madmaheshwar are brought from Kedarnath Temple and Madmaheshwar Temple to the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath.
