Omega has been very quiet for 5 months, it’s the Seamaster 300 165.024’s 60th Anniversary Year and Omega doesn’t like to miss their 60th Anniversaries. What do you think? Will we be seeing this brought out as a Reissue / Special Edition? Everything seems to be pointing in that direction BUT we’ve been disappointed before ;)
Honestly I’m not bothered if they don’t. I think Omega has had problems recently fulfilling orders from snoopy, Ed white and others plus Aqua terra dial problems/ delays. They need a quiet year I think.
I think a better move than releasing a reissue is to release a thinner Planet Ocean but with 300 WR in a 40 or 42. Since the 165.024 is what the PO is trying to be, then this move would be the perfect nod to the vintage Seamaster without overshadowing both it and the SMP.
It would be amazing to see it realised and since they smashed it with the 57 Trilogy and Ed White, it just feels correct that they'd drop the 165.024 😉 A pleasure to share this Wills and thank you!
@@ID-Guy i certainly agree, I have the 57 trilogy Seamaster 300, and what a fantastic timepiece . Closest watch in my collection is a cwc 1980 Royal Navy divers watch , from old / new stock. I get great pleasure from wearing it, but a 60th omega 300 diver with the sword hands & aesthetics would’ve simply another jewel in the omega crown.
Once again, a fantastic dive into watch history, presented exceptionally well. I can only imagine the hours and hours of research that goes into your videos. Well done!

Greetings from Omaha, Nebraska! I agree with you. This watch is extremely important and I think it will happen this year. Thank you for another excellent video! 🥃

@@ID-Guy I have the 1st-gen Planet Ocean and the Tudor FXD that you have. I like those watches specifically because they remind me of the 1963 Seamaster 300. It's going to happen. Seen them toying with this model in promo videos all over the place for the last few years 😉 But then, maybe they'll wait for the "Big Triangle" model? Maybe they'll give us both 🔥

Great historical recap. Too many Limited Editions by Omega. Love the reissue (60) of the Seamaster! However, the 300 is the best looking well balanced watch in my opinion. I have the 2222.80 Brosnan reissue. I love it! Don't need another Helium Escape Valve. I think you are right about a reissue of the 300. Omega will wait till the end of the year for this one, (fingers crossed).

That trilogy collection... kid you not, if I had the cash lying around I'd be picking up the full set... They are such amazing pieces man. If they can do the same with the 165.024, what a killer 🔥Thank you brother 😉🥃
@@ID-Guy I probably speak on behalf of many of your viewers… many of your designs across Rolex and Omega are what they should release vs what they actually release. Keep up the amazing thought leadership and creativity!
I was absolutely certain that Omega would replace the 2014 Seamaster 300 heritage with this and was genuinely surprised with what we got in 2021 with what was almost a "Blackbay-ification" of it instead.
It was a peculiar choice they went with... a more modern size but even older looking dial than the original Ck2913. Since that's now their "heritage" 300, maybe they'll allow for this Special Edition 300 to slot in there somehow? 🥃
I could imagine they'll do a normal steel version and some exotic titanium or ceramic version as a limited edition knowing Omega. The issue they've always had with the SM300 Heritage is it sat awkwardly in the middle of the SM300Pro, Planet Ocean, Black Bay and Submariner (back when they were available), and depending on what price and style most consumers wanted, they would tend to gravitate to the other alternatives. I can see this sitting awkwardly with the SMP and SM300 lines, but then again it is Omega and they aren't exactly miserly when it comes to additional product lines! 😂
Mavelous video thank you - you know I would no doubt miss owning one of these 60th Anniversary SeaMasters - but not as much as I & indeed countless others miss WRIST-SHOT WEEK those were the days my friend - we thought they'd never end 🎶🎵🎶
Great video. I wish Omega would take a different direction in releasing this watch by creating a more wearable Seamaster following in the footsteps of this design with no He escape valve. That release could be to the SMP what the Pelagos 39 is to the original Pelagos. Just an idea. I really enjoy your content and insights!
@@odds-and-sods Why do a re-creation of a dive watch that is a tool watch for military use(the original is big n easy to read) n shrink it to 36-39 becos everyone want a smaller watch? Does that even make sense if they want to recreate it.. might as well start n new 38 line?
A long time ago I had an SMP and found that even a little bit of water and I couldn’t hope to move the bezel. Then I got into the PO and after that I found the 165.024/5. I would love to see a premium new version of that come out.
Purchased a 1963 one a month ago. Mark 1 bezel (thin font), SWISS MADE dial without the 'T's, 1506 bracelet, naiad crown, the works. Unfortunately you cannot wear it often precisely because it is rare and in very good condition. No diving, not at work, not when travelling. More like for quiet weekends...
I think Omega should take some of their vintage designs back, and change a bit more than a color, or a small change on the dial or bezel. Thanks mate for the video.
First, congrats on 70k subscribers, well deserved. But when we talk 2023 releases, let's actually get a hold of something they released in 2022. In Australia that is almost nothing. Oh, and can you have a look at the new-gen DeVille which is brilliant and almost NO-ONE is talking about it.
Let's hope so. On my last visit to my local Omega factory boutique I was gifted a thick omega museum glossy magazine. This watch featured heavily in that magazine.
Even if Omega did bring back the old Seamaster 300, I don’t have any faith in their design department to get it right. They’ll do at least one thing to botch it, like put a count down bezel on it, make it larger, use the skeleton hands, etc. *The only change I wouldn’t mind seeing is a switch to the standard round hour markers/cross layout found on the current Seamaster Co-axial (and most other divers). That would be a proper merging of the past & present designs I could get behind.
The only thing that bothers me is they might make an excellent 1:1 recreation of the watch but the thickness might be an issue...somehow they end up cranking out 18mm thick cases and find it acceptable 😆
I would love to see it, but it's not going to happen. It would compete directly with the [current] Seamaster 300 in their Heritage Collection. Which, not incidentally, was updated only a couple of years ago.
I feel you here, the SM300 name now seems to belong to the new heritage model. So if anything they'd have to call it the "1963 Anniversary" or something to spice it up. Like the "Omega Trilogy". Ah, we'll see 🥃
@@ID-Guy Agreed. If it's going to happen at all, it will definitely need a special name. Believe me, no one would want to see this watch more than myself. Fingers are crossed.
it would be nice to see white dial chrome bezel re edition of the seamaster form the brosnan era , i have the chrono version but would get the new version if it were available
Badass seeing this watch with Plexi, but I must say Omega nails Sapphire when they do it right. After owning the SM300 for over 3 years, I worked out about a month ago that the use AR on the underside. The crystal looks so much like acrylic 🥃
I most certainly hope yo are right, but it seems Omega has reserved the professional case for the Plane Ocean series. Without the helium escape valve I could actually consider getting one (as I could consider any Omega diver without it...).
Since Omega seems to gave struggled to get 2022 launches into ADs, even now, I do wonder if there are ‘issues’ behind the scenes? Only now is Omega advertising last year’s OP-a-like multi-colour Aquaterras - at the end of your video in fact 🤔 Perhaps the reason for silence is practical, pragmatic? Somehow I think we’ll be waiting a while longer…
There could absolutely be a problem behind the scenes. Been hearing about many delivery delays to AD's too. Maybe we'll be getting a 1965 variation of this watch instead 😆
In my opinion, the closest Omega has come to reissuing this design was with the 2201.50; specifically, the dial. Take that dial, add the fully graduated bezel, and you've got a pretty close reissue.
@@ID-Guy it is an amazing watch I bought for my 40th. I wanted to buy a dress watch first, since I mostly own divers, including the phenomenal Omega Seamaster '57 Trilogy, but I realized I don't need one. When I saw the BB54 it was love at first sight, although I never considered a Tudor before and wasn't a big fan of the BB58. The BB54 is so beautifully done, it's so versatile, refined, and charming that it assumed the vacant role of the dress watch in my collection 😍
Great job. I can see an LE 1 to 1 for their loyal customers then a variant for the masses. You did highlight one small issue I have with the brand - the mind numbing list of variations. Before a trip to their website one really needs a good meal then a restroom break. And from the reports that the W&W has turned into a zoo, who can blame them for not bothering?
Man just one other thought...I LOVE you FXD and that nato look.. would you recommend it? I like how practical it is. Fixed lugs, thin, light, and looks great on natos.... maybe that's the watch i should look at. Not the BB54....i guess they are so different
Thank you brother! It has become my no.1 workout watch and is simply brilliant when it's put to work! But then as a daily driver, I'd say it doesn't get as much wrist time as the BB54 & SM300. It 100% feels like a tool and something that you'd take away with you if you were going to trek in the middle of nowhere. Bloody fantastic actually. I'd rely on this watch if I was lost at sea or stuck on an island... maybe that says more than most 😉 Night and Day difference to my other pieces though, this one feels like it was made to work 🥃
I think it will be issued as a special edition because it wouldn’t make a lot of sense from a business perspective to keep redesigning every 2 years. That’s a lot of changing in parts, etc. which is very costly
Of course man.... it would be nice to see one that wears well... start with keeping the thickness at 12mm... but I suspect it'll be a chunky boy P.s. totally love the look of the blue special James bond seamaster... just gorgeous What I would like to see is a small diver. Think BB54 but omega style
@@Valera_Scotland Interesting point about the thickness of it (here's hoping they make it slim) in keeping with the original it'll have a solid back, so that's a bonus. But sizes... these 42mm's always wear larger than others (that bezel is so huge) but man... seeing a slightly smaller size of this would be great. if they made it a 40mm... Smaller divers have a special place. And an FYI, the BB54 has just grown on me more and more. I think you'd get such a kick out of one! It could absolutely fit as an only watch 🥃
Here's hoping - an excellent, impassioned plea! I'd agree, if it wasn't for the Fifty Fathoms. SWATCH cannot afford to queer the pitch for Act 3, which will make or break Blancpain over the short term. They are notoriously careful about crashing big releases - the delayed Type XX held back the Air Command but then the whole retro pilot thing was pulled in response to Breitling's AVI 765 (you'd have thought a trivial matter). As the anniversary of the Seamaster is slightly variable depending on version, they could easily claim next year (or '25, '26, '27...) was the anniversary. But I'm as eager as you - the only everyday diver at the level of the Sub, though I'd like to see a modern update to the design, sans the normal Omega glitz and whimsy.
If Omega does release this, even if it's not limited, it could cost about £8k. Meanwhile, the FXD, a watch with a similar ethos and heritage is under £4k - and in Ti! The state of the watch market....
I really hope you're right about it coming out. I really hope you're wrong about it being an expensive 321 Ed White type of product. A 1:1 reissue would have me reaching for my credit card without a doubt... but there's been something about Omega these last few years that makes me think that they can't quite trust their original designs. The 1957 Trilogy was the last time they did and that was quite a while ago now... The 321 Ed White reissue is a case in point - why the sapphire sandwich? It's not historically correct or space-compatible, and while I get that the movement was a thing for many collectors who might like to see it, strange that they don't offer it in the hesalite/solid case back flavour. And so, I find it difficult to believe that Omega is capable or reissuing the 165.024 1:1. A display case back seems inevitable. While I hope to be proven wrong, I am preparing for disappointment. Fingers crossed.
That Seamaster would be the real Rolex killer, and probably my next and last one. But even Omega might consider what impact this watch would have on the rest of their collections. Would they replace or integrate it to the existing line...
Some questions that came to mind while watching: What was the very first Seamaster with a GMT hand? The first with a 24 hour bezel? Was it post-2000 or is there a historical reference? I wonder if the Seamaster 300 heritage line will see a GMT version, since they've been willing to add some modern elements to the latest iteration of it...
I wouldn't mind if they used the Planet Ocean platform for this. Of course, a '57 trilogy approach would be coolest. But if they tweak an existing platform, like with the anniversary Bond Seamaster, the Planet Ocean is the one. Heck, the first gen 2201 POs the were clearly a "grandchild" of the mil-spec Seamaster 300. The modern POs are too shiny and luxury-centered, but replacing the bezel with aluminum (or matte ceramic / brushed steel etc.) and adding a custom dial and handset would go a long way.
Hey we never know! The 014 might get its time in the spotlight (actually thought about it a lot) Since it falls into that "transitional" region, I don't think Omega would put it ahead of their 024 BUT man... give me a straight lug case any day 😉🥃
I wonder why there was no mention of CWC. Almost exact same design and, my understanding, is that they are the only current supplier to the British armed forces. This all according to the Mad Watch Collector.
Omega has been very quiet for 5 months, it’s the Seamaster 300 165.024’s 60th Anniversary Year and Omega doesn’t like to miss their 60th Anniversaries. What do you think? @@solanpepper5762 It sounds like they've really been on the back foot with supply lately 🥃
I'd love to see it happen! Bring back the 300 as it was, and also with variations to make it more modern.
I dream of this reissue
I think a better move than releasing a reissue is to release a thinner Planet Ocean but with 300 WR in a 40 or 42. Since the 165.024 is what the PO is trying to be, then this move would be the perfect nod to the vintage Seamaster without overshadowing both it and the SMP.

Dive watch are supposed to be big, easy to read n tough why go smaller, get a dress watch instead.
@@odds-and-sods Why do a re-creation of a dive watch that is a tool watch for military use(the original is big n easy to read) n shrink it to 36-39 becos everyone want a smaller watch? Does that even make sense if they want to recreate it.. might as well start n new 38 line?
@@odds-and-sods agreed. It’s had 39.5 in mind
I'd be first in line for this!
I think Omega should take some of their vintage designs back, and change a bit more than a color, or a small change on the dial or bezel. Thanks mate for the video.
I've got my credit card ready if it comes out 🤞🤞🤞
First, congrats on 70k subscribers, well deserved. But when we talk 2023 releases, let's actually get a hold of something they released in 2022. In Australia that is almost nothing. Oh, and can you have a look at the new-gen DeVille which is brilliant and almost NO-ONE is talking about it.
6:47 - perfect. Oh, how I wish blancpain had used chalk-white pencil hands on their 43 bathyscaphe.
Freaking love those simple hands of the OG 165.024... more watches need them frankly 🥃
Let's hope so. On my last visit to my local Omega factory boutique I was gifted a thick omega museum glossy magazine. This watch featured heavily in that magazine.
They really seem to be promo'ing it a lot, right? I've noticed tonnes of them in ads and other promos (like in their museum) over the last few years 🥃
....and the long march continues. 🍻
@@ID-Guy What do you think? The anniversary has basically come and gone. Will we ever see a reissue? Will we have to wait another five years?
it would be nice to see white dial chrome bezel re edition of the seamaster form the brosnan era , i have the chrono version but would get the new version if it were available
I can’t wait for this, limited to 60007 units world wide and 18mm thick. Come on baby
Lets make it 165,024 units and 20mm's thick and we have a deal! 😆🥃
As Longines Ultra Chron, Pam299 and BreitlingSO fanboi, I could care less....keep it up!
Nearly pounced on an Ultra Chron a few weeks back. Such a killer piece Gel! Hope you're well brother 🥃
I’d die for a modern reincarnation of this watch! FMD!!
I hope you’re right! We’re certainly due a new Planet Ocean: perhaps it’ll get thinner! 😉
It'll be 20mm instead of 18mm thick, guaranteed 😆🥃

Good lord I hope so!
Hope is all we have 😆
Man but the current version is so so beautiful, it will be interesting to see how they beat it …
Plexi and sapphire versions like the Speedmaster would be a win! (For me at least) 🎉
Only now is Omega advertising last year’s OP-a-like multi-colour Aquaterras - at the end of your video in fact 🤔
Perhaps the reason for silence is practical, pragmatic? Somehow I think we’ll be waiting a while longer…
There could absolutely be a problem behind the scenes. Been hearing about many delivery delays to AD's too. Maybe we'll be getting a 1965 variation of this watch instead 😆
@@ID-Guy 😆😂🤣
In my opinion, the closest Omega has come to reissuing this design was with the 2201.50; specifically, the dial. Take that dial, add the fully graduated bezel, and you've got a pretty close reissue.
nope 2254.50 !!
Man if this comes true would be so nice 🤩! But I just bought the Tudor BB54 😅
Hold onto your BB54. It's such a stellar lil watch... freaking love how under the radar it is - makes for an amazing daily, right? 🥃
I want this watch, unless they put on a date
I'd rely on this watch if I was lost at sea or stuck on an island... maybe that says more than most 😉 Night and Day difference to my other pieces though, this one feels like it was made to work 🥃
@@ID-Guy brilliant summary thanks man
This has got to be the ultimate tease , until Omega makes the release.
Got that gut feeling that it's going to happen (and they've been verrry quiet about it) So! Maybe around June - July we'll get a sniff 🔥
I think it will be issued as a special edition because it wouldn’t make a lot of sense from a business perspective to keep redesigning every 2 years. That’s a lot of changing in parts, etc. which is very costly
These will definitely be a Special Edition of some sort (hopefully done tastefully 😉)
I really hope the Planet Ocean line gets a refresh as well. I have a 2201 and think they only got worse from there.
Omega is currently working on the Seamaster Paris 2024 !
Every time I watch one of your videos I want to buy another watch …..
It's a dangerous, dangerous game 😆
Man....yes!
We know and love 'em a lot 😉🥃
Of course man.... it would be nice to see one that wears well... start with keeping the thickness at 12mm... but I suspect it'll be a chunky boy
P.s. totally love the look of the blue special James bond seamaster... just gorgeous
What I would like to see is a small diver.
@@ID-Guy that sounds awesome man thank you so much. For now my money is spent on whisky, while slowly saving (Springbank 10 etc)
Are you ever going to revive your epic live streams?
Some questions that came to mind while watching: What was the very first Seamaster with a GMT hand? The first with a 24 hour bezel? Was it post-2000 or is there a historical reference? I wonder if the Seamaster 300 heritage line will see a GMT version, since they've been willing to add some modern elements to the latest iteration of it...
CWC MK2 watches look like this.
They based their design around the Seamaster 300 specs in a lot of ways, pretty awesome how they were able to keep the template 🥃
Isn’t it the 60th year of the 165.014? That’s the reference I really want but I’d happily hand over my money for either
I suspect that if they could get away with it, Omega would release semi-anniversary limited editions too.
