After Dark is such a hard song for me. I listened to it on a car ride for 6 hours straight after my heart got broken by my first love about 2 years ago. It’s so weird listening to this song while permanently experiencing all these emotions again. It makes me feel extremely sad but at the same time im happy about it being so beautiful.
I just wish i could get over her to listen to this with a happy heart again.

It's December of 2010. It's dark outside, the trailer park street lights and the string lights on my grandma's trailer are all lit, filling the area with a warm golden ambience. It's cold enough to see your breath but not so cold that you're uncomfortable. The air smells crisp and clean and new, and there's fluffy snow falling slowly all around to gently pile ontop of the few inches we already have. I'm standing in the driveway, listening to my family inside and Christmas music from another trailer a few houses down.

Ive never dealt with losing my mom to drugs and my oder brother is struggling with drugs aswell and ive held alot of animosity towards him.. but this song broke down my walls and i finally grieved for my mom and for the pain my brother must be going through since he had no one… granted he brought alot on himself choosing drugs.. but when we were young his innocence was taken away by a nieghbor/ family friend who molested him.. idk what i can do to help him but i really needed this breakdown to start opening up more..
