    Hi Ryan! Are there any more videos to this series? Thanks for all you do!

      Hello! I have 3 more videos planned in this series followed by a practice questions video.

    I love your video. Very educating and easy to comprehend. Please do a video on interceptive orthodontics. Will really look forward to it. Thank you .

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 роки тому

      Thank you! Could you clarify what you mean by interceptive treatment? My understanding is that this is synonymous with early treatment or Phase I treatment where you “intercept” early orthodontic issues during childhood.

      @@mentaldental you are very correct. Your video talks extensively about some aspect of interceptive orthodontic. Just a few things were not mention such space maintenance and balancing and compensating extractions. I will search the other ortho videos for more info on those. Thanks you doc

    Hey Dr. Ryan! Correct me if I’m wrong, but on the Severe Crowding slide, I believe the extraction sequence on the image is C-D-5. Otherwise, thanks for ALL your videos!

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  4 роки тому +2

      Hi there! It is in fact C-D-4 with that last extraction being of the first premolars. I can see how it might be confusing though!

    • @ciptoons
      @ciptoons 4 роки тому

      Mental Dental Hey Dr. Ryan! I was SO confused because I understood that the 1st PM were to be extracted, but was mixed up on the numbering. I revisited your Serial Extraction video and remembered the Palmer Notation. How embarrassing! Thanks again for replying! Your videos have helped me so much in this process!

    Heyyy Ryan! Thank you so much again and again! A bit confuse about tongue thrust, isn’t it a compensation rather that a cause for anterior open-bite? Could you plz clarify? Thanks!!

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  4 роки тому +3

      That is a great question! This is an ongoing "chicken and the egg" debate where some people think tongue thrust causes AOB, while others think it is merely a compensation to provide a seal for the oral cavity during swallowing because of an already present AOB. I think both sides have truth to them, but I personally am more on the side of it being causative.

    • @ammoula2974
      @ammoula2974 4 роки тому

      Mental Dental I wonder how the exam makers deal with this debate and subsequently, how are we as test takers respond to questions including it?!! Any comments?! Highly appreciate your input!!

    Doctor does the asymmetry that develops due to mandibular shift in adults due to cross bite is reversible?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  2 роки тому

      Most of the time, it is reversible if caught early. A significant transverse functional shift means you are potentially accelerating the growth of one condyle over the other, so to recover from this, you would likely need an asymmetric functional appliance while the patient is still growing.

    Hello Ryan, in the serial extraction do you mean C. B, 4?? you mention first canine and then second molar but you wrote C, D, 4. thank you!

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 роки тому +1

      Cs= primary canines, Ds= primary first molars
