This lady is going to do so well!! I absolutely love love her content! She may not think so but she's up there with my favourite interior people to watch the real professional ones!!! She just breaks it down so well! Love it !❤
Finally!! Someone else who doesn’t want to hear another designer use the word “juxtaposition”! If I hear a designer use that word one more time… I’m new here and am loving your channel. I love your style and your humor. 😁
Yes! It’s definitely overused 🤓 Let’s use some new words people!!! Also thank you, Beverly! I appreciate you being here and I’m very happy that you enjoyed the video (and my sense of humor) 😘
Thank you!!! Wow it’s lovely people like you that keep me making these videos! If I can inspire you to find your style then I’m doing something right 🥰
I hate that Coco Channel quote lol sometimes your personality is more is more and that’s ok. I can’t wait until the next video as a person who has always questioned rules😂
Fair enough babe! I’m a Libra and so typical that I am trying to find balance with everything, but that being said-I’m definitely a lover of breaking the rules and adore people that dance to the best of their own drum 😘
AND your personality coming through is what I am advocating with each of these videos. This is what I want us all to feel free to do. Listening to our heart first and foremost 🤍
@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudio I definitely love balance but the Aries in me says burn the rules lol and yes I definitely agree our spaces she speak to who we are as individuals. I’m excited for this year so far everything I’ve read about home decor has said that were are trending away from trends and just letting our personalities shine.
I love your videos. Your explanations are fabulous and your examples are so wonderful that it takes me forever to watch because I keep hitting the pause button to examine the examples closely. And, as someone who loves brown, rust, taupe, tan, black, burgundy, beige and all things green and green gold, your taste is beguiling. New subscriber. Thanks for all the wonderful videos and great info.
Thank you luv!! I appreciate you being here and all your kind words 🤗 I typically include the Pinterest board link in the video description just for that reason. Hope that makes it easier! PS We have similar favorite colors!
I really resonate with the rule of stepping back and revisiting a design idea. I recently had come to terms that some of the pieces we love, are unfortunately not conducive to the overall design. The art of letting go is tough but usually beneficial 😄
That’s a great realization-thank you for sharing your experience. I have a feeling many people go through this but are afraid to let go of things-for many different reasons of course. Seems like you’re feeling good about it 🥰
Hi 👋! Yes….on everything. Especially the removing part. When I’m having my peaceful morning coffee is when I look around my space and see if there’s anything I should rearrange, replace or remove. Sometimes I may like it today but hate it tomorrow 🤦🏽♀️. Thank you again for your advice on my rug situation on Instagram. It was actually one of the items I kept seeing that needed to be replace or remove. 👍🏼
Oh good!!! I’m happy it worked for you. Keep me posted on your choice. Also yes on the morning coffee part. Haha I am sitting here doing the same. Well was, before responding to comments 🤗 but yes, I do the same most mornings. It’s the perfect quiet time to simply observe 🤍
Great video! Would love a part 2 of this where you spend more time with examples of rooms that don’t follow your principles/feel off and why as well as rooms that do follow your principles and why they work
Christina you really make think!!!! Every time you share I feel inspired and happy ❤. Btw sing all you want 😂 it made me laugh out loud. I do that when I feel joyful too ❤. I love you Christina 🩷❤️🩵
Awwwww 🥰 warm fuzzies babe!! Thank you-this is definitely not the last time you’ll hear me sing 😂 I’m so happy you’re getting inspired from the videos-Yeah!! That’s all I could hope for. Until next week 😘
Great video. Polished, educational, humorous (the girl on the tiny chair made me laugh out loud). So many luscious photos/eye candy that brought home your points. You’re a good teacher. Can’t wait for Part 2!
I loved her in that little chair-so cute! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the compliment and positive feedback. (I must work to keep my focus on these. I’m a talker 🤗)
My favorite new channel. After moving into my new home, I soon realized that designing an interior that I love (aka making house into home) is a marathon, not a race. The incite and info you share is invaluable to those of us who are just trying to create spaces that are beautiful and unique to who we are. Thank you for taking us along with you on this journey. You’re SO good at this!
Ahhh babe! Thank you so very much for this 😘❤️🥰 Sonja-yes, it is so much a marathon meant to be enjoyed! I’m happy to hear you’ve realized this. Keep me posted on how it comes along. Thank you again for your very kind words!
Loving your channel! Definitely a rule breaker here. I feel like interior design rules are often contradictory, so I can't wait for part 2 where we rebel!
Yes I agree with you on them being contradictory and im feeling like we have changed and so some of the rules must be changed too! I’m excited to share my thoughts about it and looking forward to your comments and thoughts about it too!
Wonderful episode. I am really looking forward to Part 2 as well. I love the way you explain, and the photos chosen illustrate your point beautifully. I will certainly keep watching :)
I totally agree with the massive overuse of the buzz word juxtaposition! I am tired of hearing it used constantly on every decor Chanel and especially in home tours! I have really been enjoying your content and look forward to your videos, thanks!
Hi Naomi! Yes I’m 100% open to this. I’m launching my design studio this summer but happy to discuss something sooner. Perhaps you would like to email me your thoughts or what you had in mind? Christina@casaserenita.com If it’s just a general question, please feel free to DM me on Instagram 😘 Thank you for tuning in babe and hope to continue to inspire you!
One thing I think about regarding function over form is, that maybe beauty is also a function you want from the space 🤔 so does this mean that form is also function at the same time? Maybe the problem is that the catch phrase is just over simplified and reality is complex and maybe I’m just thinking too much about it
Hi understand your point and I always overthink! So no worries! I get you 😘 It’s actually not a catch phase in design. It’s necessary to design a functioning safe space, that’s the primary job of architects and interior designers, but that doesn’t mean it’s devoid of beauty. This is the thoughtfulness behind creating a space-you can 100% have both function and form, but never form without function in these industries.
I see it A LOT when I’m showing homes in NYC (I also work in real estate sales and development). So many kitchens are laid out in odd ways. Mostly due to renovated kitchens with poor planning, low budgets, working with odd shaped spaces or landlords that simply just don’t care.
Good question!!! I suppose there is a little bit of both due to the thicker protruded lines, which I can see why you question it, but the fluting is much more dominant. For those that don’t know reading this comment, fluting is concave, reeding is convex. I think people use these interchangeably but they are opposites.
Over accessorizing = maximalism? Have you ever seen images of Coco's apartment in Paris? Yikes. She didn't apply her own rule in her decor. Was maximalism just a revisited trend? I found a gorgeous silk rug on Poshmark that I'm going to hang on the wall. Gosh, you're nailing your videos! They are so enjoyable and informative. Love the music too.
Haha she certainly did not, Shiryone! Good point and great comment! She is a maximalist indeed, yet she was still ahead of her time as someone not following the interior trends. She also had many sentimental and meaningful pieces in her home-which I love! Also I like to take inspo from other arts and apply it to interiors. Btw Maximalism is an art term and a response to minimalism; which is fitting that the world of interiors would apply it to this style more recently!

Hi Laura! I’ll link it here but just in case this doesn’t work, then it’s also in last week’s video-the one about the kitchen dresser 😘
