Yeah, I too am flying to Dubai via Melbourne, staying a night in Dubai and flying to Dublin the next morning. Same aircraft types as you. I just joined the Emirates frequent flyer program and see that I will earn 26,000 miles for the trip, that's pretty good. It is enough to upgrade an Emirates flight in economy class between Dubai and Dublin to business class! I think I will be sticking with this route unless it gets cut which seems to happen frequently on long haul flights to and from Dublin.
Are you on the flight via Sydney or Melbourne? Our flights were from Melbourne to Dubai to Ireland. Got a free stopover in Dubai due to engine failure on Sydney to Dubai A380 the previous day! Passengers on that flight got bumped up onto our flight to Ireland so were held back a day which suited us just fine. No jet lag. Loved the A380. Very quiet. But also love the 777ER. We booked row 17 on 2 legs which are great seats. 3 in our family, so can get in and out from window seat easily.
Have a great trip. Are you staying in the Copthorne in Dubai? You have earned great miles. More than we did, but our flights were great value, so cant expect too many miles! I dont expect Emirates to change the Ireland flight. Apparently its very profitable. If anything hopefully they will add another flight.
Ran out of room on last post. Will be interested in your experience. 777 seats are quite narrow but comfortable if you are not too wide! Leg room is better than the A380. Flight to Dublin often has some of the latest aircraft, so very up to date entertainment.
How was the flight? In a few days I am flying from Auckland to Dublin on Emirates connecting in Dubai. I've been to Ireland a dozen times in my life but this is the first time I will be able to do it on one airline. I hope the route stays open!
We going to dubai on christmas day with an Emirates 777, We will be sat in row 18 behind this one, then we stay in dubai for 2 days and fly to sydney with qantas then fly to cairns, spend a few days in cairns then drive down to townsville and get a ferry to magnetic island in the great barrier reef, then we drive don to the gold cost and go to a theme park, I think its called dream world, then we get a flight to sydney and fly back to dubai and back to gatwick....
Very beautiful video !
Thanks,
Just back from 5 long haul flights with Emirates.
4 on the 777 and 1 on A380.
Must say I love the 777 even with the narrow seats..
