So many things that aren’t seen in this movie are expanded in the 2011. The whole plot has got more stakes in the remake too much better x

Tremors from 1990 is BY FAR my favorite Kevin Bacon movie. Underground monsters who terrorize a small Nevada town, amazing! And the practical effects are stunning for a movie of that time period and budget. Now there are 7 or 8 movies and a season of a tv show, first 3 movies are amazing! My family watched the first 3 once every couple months and know all the lines, I have a tattoo of my favorite quote from the movie it’s soooo good
Growing up with a mother born in the 60s, she knew some of the best music, films and TV shows. And given that she was also a rebel child and incredibly into music, the first films she showed me about music was Footloose, Dirty Dancing then Flashdance. I fell in love with them and they’ve been my top 3 favorites since I was a kid. The remake to Footloose was given a lot of hate, and normally I typically do hate remakes, but this time I actually did enjoy it. What I like is that they kind of ‘updated’ music to also target today’s music listeners too. Usually i hate remakes - but I'm ok with that one. Very enjoyable to watch. I never turn away either 1 (and i can't stand country music - but it's good)
I was an extra in Hollywood all through the 1990s. I worked with John Lithgow quite a bit on 3rd Rock From The Sun. Let me tell you... the dude is a PHENOMINAL actor! He can do a dramatic monologue and give you chills, or deliver a line that only he can make funny. Very fun and cool dude in real life. Im honored to have gotten to work with him. PS .. best KevBake film.... WILD THINGS!!!!!!!!!
This OG version is a classic - and I will always like it better than the remake. With Kenny Loggins, Bonnie Tyler, John Cougar Mellencamp, Sammy Hagar, and Denise Williams - I feel this soundtrack is far superior. Every song is fantastic - and it's one of the BEST movie soundtracks of the 80's. While the dancing in the remake is very good - it feels VERY choreographed. This one - I feel has more heart in the dancing and in the dialogue. With that being said - I feel the remake does a really good job at paying homage to this - in its own very modern way. Every scene of importance is in it - although not in the same order. Their attention to detail is impressive (the car, Ren's suit, Ariel's dress). And I do LOVE the dance sequence for Fake ID. Miles Teller is funny as Willard - and makes the role his own. Kenny is a great dancer. There are three major differences in the remake - but I don't want to say and spoil anything. Overall - as a remake of the OG - I give it a thumbs up.
So there’s this thing that happens sometimes when you have a movie that has musical qualities to it, but is not all out singing, it gets adapted into a stage musical and then adapted back into a musical movie. This also happened with hairspray and little shop of horrors
the only time ever that i actually enjoyed the remake of a classic 80's movie. i feel it was well done and with respect, some of the acting isn't great but they took care with the storyline and expanded it a little, plus they kept the very iconic scenes that would probably piss of those who love this movie if they were cut.
After I saw this in night school about 15 years ago when my step mom showed it to me I asked for the soundtrack for a present cause the music is peak 80s imo!
Personally I can't stand the remake, but if you do watch, watch it at your own risk! I think they only cast Julian Hough because she can dance. Definitely not for acting🤭It's not ALL bad, but it's one of those movies I'll never watch more the once. I am glad you are finally watching it though so you can have you own opinion😊😊

Apollo 13 (with Tom Hanks directed by Ron Howard excellent movie!) Patriots Day (about the Boston Marathon Bombing-- he plays the FBI agent in charge of the investigation) and for a throwback to 60's science fiction/horror the movie Tremors is lots of fun. One of his early movies is called Diner -- excellent movie. And if you want to see him totally playing against type watch The River Wild with Merle Streep. He plays a narcissistic psychopath going down some river rapids in Washington while holding a family hostage. Wonderful acting from everyone in that movie. The scenery and the rapids are absolutely amazing in this film. Kevin Bacon has been in some great movies and this is just a small listing. I actually feel like watching them again now that I'm thinking about them. Apollo 13 is probably my favorite (Houston we have a problem!) Realistic portrayal of the 3 astronauts that very nearly died in space and NASA'S attempt to bring them home. Edge of your seat thriller. Watch anyone of them!
A Charming Watch . I saw this in Theater at its release .. I was in HS . SJP did a movie you might like called Girls just want to have fun! She was a dancer and performer ( she played Annie on Broadway as a kid) GJWTHF was her first starring role in film. She also starred in a weekly sitcom called Square Pegs when I was 14/15. I loved it so much . I lived it . We are about the same age . I’ve followed all their careers since day 1. There’s a book called the six degrees of Kevin Bacon . Please check out the premise It’s Hella fascinating and fun! ✨🎄💫☑️

I'm curious how many that are saying the remake is better, are from a different generation than the original one. Regarding music & movies, people generally like what they were first introduced to when they were young better. They have a connection not just to the music or movie itself, but to the era & everything produced in that era. And alm the artists of that era. The younger generations may not even realize til years later sometimes, that the version of a movie or song that they love is actually a cover or a remake. I've experienced that myself with certain things. Not saying the remake to this, isn't better, because I don't think I've even seen it yet. But considering how young I was when I first saw the original, & how much I liked it, I just can't imagine liking the remake more...

I love this movie but I agree with the others, I feel like the remake put a little more meat to the story. It explains things a bit better, now I will say there is 1 part in the remake I didn’t like. I just didn’t think the acting was that great in a particular part. That is what this movie did better is the acting seems better whereas in the remake it just falls a bit flat in some places.
Man this brings back so many highschool memories. I'm probably biased but the Original is far better than the remake. The Cast and acting, the Storyline are far superior but the remake has better dancing. The acting in the remake and storytelling is horrible. I couldn't watch the whole thing but I can see the draw for younger people who weren't around when this film came out.
