I’m super excited with today’s progress… I’ve used what you taught me and explored more sweeper options. I’ve created sweeper categories for voice tracks that are song specific, artist specific, and general station imagining/promo… then used the language category setting to set songs in my rotation that have intros of a certain length (8 seconds or longer) and a specific song voice track enabled to a specific language and songs with 8 seconds or more intro but no specific voice track set to another language. Now my track rotation is set to rotate through a song with a track specific VT, a song without, and a song with a generic sweeper, and an actual sweeper with production elements between songs.
Hi Jeff, Gary Here. I love your channel and all the super ideas you share. I am 73 and have worked in top 40 radio in the late 60's and early 70's but since I have retired I run 2 internet radio stations, one that plays 60s and 70s music, the other one is a contemporary Christian station. I love your ideas since I don't have the time to DJ myself. I run on Live 365 and create clock wheels for my on air programming. I try to incorporate your ideas as my schedule allows. I have attached one promo for you to listen to and offer any feedback. I operate on a Mac computer, and would like to get into the Radio DJ software, however am I correct it doesn't work on a Mac. Thanks.. I'm a Hobbyist DJ/Host. Been doing it 20 years now. I don't have the setup you run. I was a WinAmp User, then I bought a Vista machine back in 2008, big mistake. But Ended up getting SAM Broadcaster. It can do what RadioDJ does. But it's not free. Anyway, I like how RadioDJ looks. But with Windows 10 Support ending in 10/2025, and I've heard horror stores about WIndows 11 and privacy not being a issue with Microsoft, I'm looking for alternatives. Going to a Linux Distro and looking at wine/bottles to see if I can run these .EXE files within Linux. I hope so, because if I can't I have to learn Linux Software like Mixxx... Good thing I have a few old computers around to test with.. I'm a listener of your Station!! Have LIVE365 on my Devices so I can listen anywhere!!
i love your video's so far ,thanks for going these ,would it be possible to just demonstrate a bit slower please .thanks keep up the good work you do cheers
You can simplify your messy query. This will do the same: UPDATE songs SET gender = 'Mixt' WHERE song_type = 0 AND enabled = 1 AND id_genre = 143 AND cue_times NOT LIKE '%int=[15-0][.]=%';
Honestly, I barely know how to code. Not my specialty. Just follow the instructions and copy & paste the code in the description in your Db. To be safe, back up your Db. OR, even better, create a separate Db for testing purposes. Good luck!
Hi Richard! I use RadioDJ for my station automation. As for price, it's our favorite...free! Incredibly full-featured. However, the voice tracking capabilities are lackluster. That's why I shared my workaround.
It's just not very refined or flexible. BUT, it is free software. Can't have everything. Like I said, there is a workaround. It's just not traditional voice tracking as you'd expect from an expensive app. @@richardjanes1695
@@richardjanes1695 Here's a good rundown of a bunch of popular options: www.cloudrad.io/radio-broadcasting-software I've only used RadioDJ and it's been incredibly solid across the board...with the exception of voice tracking.
The id_genre value needs to match whatever the value of YOUR id_genre is. In my code, "id_genre=143" corresponds to the music genre Top 40. SO, the code will only affect Top 40 songs. If you want to make the change to all songs in your library, omit the id_genre part.
Been using RadioDJ for a few years, and Voicetracks has never worked right. I'm sure it's been asked on the RadioDJ forums for a long time, but seems to be an extremely low priority.
Nice work around. 4 easy steps except for that SQL thing(yikes). Glad somebody with actual Radio experience willing to share the knowledge with the rest of us 1st timers. Rock On brother!
Thanks much! Hey, I was just like you re. SQL...a complete coding dummy. I just jumped in and got dirty. What's the worst that can happen? (Just don't test it on your live station. I do all my tests on the "production room" PC.) Lately, I've been using ChatGPT to create SQL code to execute ideas trapped in my head. :)
Not sure when you started using RDJ or what version you began using it . I've been asking other users which version do you find most stable? @@RadioDJDude
If you're using events to load rotations, make sure you don't have a Play command in the event. Let the new rotation load, enable Auto DJ and it will start after the last track. @@theel.us-americasrockstati8864

@@danokvoiceovers Have you set intro times for all your songs? You need to open each track in the Cue Editor and manually set the intro times. While you're at it, set Next Start cues, too.
You're right. Running a station using just rotations can sound a tad generic. BUT, it always comes down to your content. Infusing more personality and fun into production elements and voice tracks is the key! It may be generic, but at least it will be entertaining. Since people aren't hangin' on our every word for hours on end, they're not going to notice -as much- if they're having a good time.
Hey Jeff keep up the good job man! Quick question, as I methodically re-build the station I'm trying to avoid additional work (yeah!) by using some quick math on the how many question. In a 4 hour set, how many different VT-SWPs would provide a good flavor/freshness without being too redundant?? I'm thinking 12-16 ?? Your thoughts?? As always Rock on Brother, Rock On!
Hey! For reference, I use 3 VTs per hour. That's just talk breaks over song intros and doesn't include other bits/production elements. Since XXX80s.com runs 24/7 on rotations, I have about 300 different VTs that rotate...gives me a couple days of "fresh" VTs before they repeat.
@@RadioDJDude OK then, using your reference point in 4hour segments that's 12 per segment times 4 segments per month is 48 different VT/SWP. I hate Algebra. One more thing, using the same setting on the video(sound devices/swp settings) I added couple to test. Did not hear the VT Overlay any ideas??? Again Thank you brother.
Since that was one of my early vids, I didn't know as much. Tracks set to Sweeper as file type, don't require Overlay File to be checked. As for sound settings, they're controlled by Sweeper Volume.
