    What amazing shots!
    Thank you very much. This makes me want to go back some day to scuba dive there. I live in Illinois now but about 26 years ago I went snorkeling at Catalina island with a group and it was loads of fun.
    Beautiful place.

      Wow 26 years ago! Well it's still a pretty awesome place to snorkel and dive, sounds like you need to come back for a visit. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, really appreciate it.

      Thanks so much Chris I appreciate you taking the time to comment! Yeah the dive park is pretty cool. Especially when the Black Sea Bass are hanging out with divers.

    This is awesome, when is best time to see kelps?

    • @peterneubauer9712
      @peterneubauer9712  Рік тому +2

      Kelp is seen year round although kelp does like cooler water so the kelp beds are thicker in winter time. Thank you for checking out my video and taking the time to comment.

    This is also a very cool place to dive and fish ( it's a preserve so no fishing in it. I spent many a weekend there- I so have wanted to take you all here

    Thank you for sharing. Do they have equipment rental nearby?

    • @peterneubauer9712
      @peterneubauer9712  Рік тому +1

      Hey Anthony - Yes you can rent equipment right there at the casino. There is a dive shop called Catalina Divers in the casino and a truck parked out from for tank rentals, fills and weights. It does get busy on the weekends so I would call ahead if you need gear. Catalina Divers. Thanks for watching! 👍🏽

    Are those Sea Lions swimming or seals?

    • @peterneubauer9712
      @peterneubauer9712  4 місяці тому +1

      Those are Sea Lions you can tell because they have small external ears which seals do not. Also the fore flippers are large on Sea Lions because they use them for propulsion, Seals propel them selves with their rear flippers. Hope that helps and hey thanks for watching my video!

    Great video! Truly one of my favorite dive locations, even asked my wife to marry me at the top of the stairs. Well now for the question, what camera are you using? Also how are you getting it that stable, is the stability being created off the rig set up or off of editing? Thank you in advance

    • @peterneubauer9712
      @peterneubauer9712  9 місяців тому +1

      Thanks so much for watching my video and taking the time to comment. Regarding your question, I used a GoPro 10 on a tray with two Light and Motion video lights. I shoot at 60 fps and export at either 24 or 30 fps.
      I recently started using a wide angle wet lens for my GoPro. If you check out my more recent videos (Grand Cayman, Sea of Cortez or Mexican Cenotes) I used the wide angle lens exclusively underwater in those videos and i really like the results. Hope this helps.

    Looking at this for a vacation spot- what month did you go?

    • @peterneubauer9712
      @peterneubauer9712  2 роки тому +1

      I created the video end of January a very slow month for Avalon because it's off season. The Black Sea Bass footage was taken sometime closer to end of summer.

    • @peterneubauer9712
      @peterneubauer9712  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! There is a dive shop right at the casino you can rent gear including tanks and weights. You take the Catalina Express ferry from Los Angeles or Orange County to Avalon on Catalina. From there it is a 10 -15 minute walk to the Casino which is where the dive park is. Super easy.

    What service or store did you book for this scuba diving trip? Thank you Peter

    • @peterneubauer9712
      @peterneubauer9712  2 роки тому +3

      HI Kevin, The Avalon Dive Park is free and open to the public. I did all the booking on my own which consisted of getting a room at the Seaport Village Inn which is close to the park and diver friendly. I booked passage on the Catalina Express to get to Catalina Island and air or nitrox fills are available right there at the dive park. There are dive boats available if you want to do some boat diving as well. Hope that helps.
