This video fully captures the beauty of the perfect Channel Islands kelp dive. Catalina is truly a gem and we are very lucky to have this fantastic locale just 26 miles offshore. When you are there on a boat it seems like another continent (though Avalon is much like any other beachy tourist spot). Great video that will hopefully excite others to start diving.
Amazing video. You captured the beauty of SoCal diving so well. Just came back from diving the Channel Islands. It’s mind blowing. I could just sit there and watch the sun shine through the kelp forest. But highlight of course was seeing a giant sea bass.
Considering all the great local underwater videographers in So Cal, this is a huge compliment. Thank you and sorry for the late reply. Check out the other videos in my channel as well. Please subscribe if you like.
First 25 seconds in and I subscribed it’s so cool seeing what it’s like underwater and since I live in cold waters I don’t get to experience the colorful and diverse fish like you!! Keep up the good work
I'm curious where you stayed in Catalina to get the most out of snorkeling, hotel or close camping? Trying to figure out a trip and going to go with my kids...going to be fun. Thank you for your lovely video. ❤️🐠🐟👀🌞
I was just there today and got to see a giant sea bass. It was "chewing" on something and shreds of meat and fish bone were coming out of its gills. Then it spit up a fish head the size of a softball!
Sorry for the late reply. Early is good, but in my opinion it's best to get in the water when the sun is out. Light has a huge impact on the visibility and any video you shoot. The black sea bass at Casino Point don't seem to be bothered by the divers, so going out later when the park is busy, shouldn't affect your chances to see one.
mcpojack I don't use any filters on the GoPro. This was edited using Cyberlink Power Director 10. I've gotten decent at messing with the white balance/ect to get colors right.
And you can bet some big idiot fisherman probably got the last one. They’re still under threat, and will remain threatened. We must protect these overfished specie. The giant black California grouper can survive.

I've just sat on the bottom there several times and just chilled doing the same thing.
Great Video! Was just there this weekend and was lucky enough to spend some time with the Giant Black Sea Bass!
Very nice! Easily the best diving video I've seen come out of SoCal.

Great job, gorgeous.
My dive buddy and I saw a couple this past weekend. Did you use a filter? If so, what type?

Baby Garibaldi was sweet. And a Rainbow Perch
Great video!
Nice! Was this an early morning dive? Planning on going in a week or two. Seems like being the first in the water is a good thing.

Did you use any type of filter on the gopro. Colors look great. I have to use a red filter below 35' to get colors like that.
