I can´t understand how these very young men (Jay Kay 26 and Stuart Zender 21)could create and perform these masterpieces at his age...they are really virtuous musicians.
Jay Kay writen; composed; arranged and produced this track on studio; hes got some natural talent to music who is very above the general musicians; because this whole album his a milestone on Jazz-Funk history; a very tecnical and hard to reproduce genre
I will listen to this live until the day I die. It's been ten years now rewatching this live, it will never cease to make me feel like I am 15 or 16 again, in my room all alone, jamming to their music, imagining my future as a young adult. Today, I have everything I've ever imagined and I always end up tearing up or smiling like crazy when I listen to it now that I am 28. My heart is full every damn time. Favorite song ever, forever. Everything is good, thank god. 🥰
I was in university when this came out. I was starting to learn bass then, and thought it would take me a life time to master Zender’s lines. 30 years later, I am still learning new stuff from listening to Zender’s work.
That "legalize it" moment was epic. What always amazed me about Jamiroquai is their extremely high level of playing musical instruments, especially bass playing.
harvey keitel Brazil 1997 is worth watching too. The horn section adds another dimension to the performance. The band were on 🔥 between 1992-1997 zone in on Stuart’s B-line on the second verse ua-cam.com/video/-pvFcvzgWPA/v-deo.html 🙌🏽
same to me, shows what good music can do. The Band timing is perfect, it feels like sun on my skin, good friends are around me, and a good german white beer is in my hand. I like what you are doing to me.
These guys explored and mixed a lot of genres, really captured this vibe and took all the coolneSs from the jazz bass, disco, dance, pop and even hip hop, that with a melodic singing and very clever lyrics..now that is Jamiroquai a one in a lifetime band, this is the kind of artist that younger people should look up too, this is the real inspiration but music industry is really going so low..it s a shame .
I’m 17, I found this song on vacation a few months ago. I never really listened to any pop music, but this song is just different. The beat is crazy, I love how in the original song it has that weird little sound that just goes on throughout the song, and it just complete switches at the end of the song. I’m not sure if any of you know what sound I’m talking about but it wasn’t in the live version. But this song is beautiful. The demo version of this song was good, but he changed it into something completely different. This song will always have a special place In my heart.
If not done so, check out performance from Brazil 1997. Added the horns to the performance and the groove Stuart lays down on the bass is 🔥 ua-cam.com/video/-pvFcvzgWPA/v-deo.html
It’s magical how many kids pick up on this. If you have to put it in a genre it would be Acid Jazz, a sub genre created in the U.K. I was a teenager when this happened and have always been a fan.

It’s so crazy because their big break in the U.S. was Virtual Insanity because of the video with the moving room, won them an award for best music video that year ( which was the first time most people in the U.S. heard of them). By the time that album (Traveling Without Moving) came out that year, ~’96 ‘97, they had already gained a crazy fan base. It just took that video being played on repeat to give them major access to the U.S. Also there’s Seven Days in Sunny June for the movie Devil in a Blue Dress, Deeper Underground for Godzilla, and of course Canned Heat for Napoleon Dynamite.
Probably my favourite group of all time! Start listening to them when I first moved from the North of Ireland to Manchester, the heartbeat of music and club culture in the early 90’s! When I first heard Emergency On Planet Earth on the radio, I thought it was a black woman singing... Wow, how wrong could I have been but loved the to this day no less! Master artist and group! Thanks for the great memories you helped make for me in a great time living in a wonderful city!
This performance is really keeping me from killing myself I love music and I don't see how I could live without this whoever posted it thank you so much music is amazing thank you Jamiroquai..
Hope you're still around Isaiah and listening into the magic of Jamiroquai? I get the same reaction listening and watching Jay Kay and Stu doing their thing ALWAYS lifts me up. I can be in full panic attack mode but hearing Jkays smooth voice and Zenders bass guitar slapping rifts has me on cloud 9 again. Wish the band would reform and get back to this. As others have said this is a masterpiece. The weed political statement too, just right to plea for the legalisation of cannabis. 25 years on and we are still waiting......I dont even smoke it but I see others who rely on it to keep them calm. My addiction is just Jamiroquai!!
When you're feeling down, just put some reggae music, always put me up again. Life is a proof of resilience, for everybody. One day you're down, but tomorrow everything can change for the better. Trust me i know. But the change starts from inside to outside, and it takes effort and will power.

Smoking a joint with Jay Kay has now become a dream of mine. Think about blazing a fatty while sitting on the passenger seat of his Miura listening to him singing or telling some crazy ass story. Yeah, that's the dream right there fellas
+Jessica Uyvette Thompson Yeah he really looks like a legitimately cool and chill bloke. The smoking would be just to enhance the experience but is not required. Also, I forgot he sold his Miura so it would have to be in his green La Ferrari ;)
P Webber I agree with you on that; real musicianship has been replaced 120 bpm and kanye west, with some of the 3rd Generation T.I. "Trap Muzik" bullshit... This period is gone forever... Praise be to youtube for preservation of the funk known as "Acid Jazz!"
I can´t understand how these very young men (Jay Kay 26 and Stuart Zender 21)could create and perform these masterpieces at his age...they are really virtuous musicians.
Yeah Stuart was amazing at putting catchy basslines together, reminded me of Bernard Edwards, John Taylor and Mick Karn. Underrated bassist.
The vid is classic. I have about 20 times. I want a bonk again. X
Jay Kay writen; composed; arranged and produced this track on studio; hes got some natural talent to music who is very above the general musicians; because this whole album his a milestone on Jazz-Funk history; a very tecnical and hard to reproduce genre
I can explain it... They have THC in their brains.

Without that bass it will be nothing, it's the heart af the band. Like Jaco by weather report.

BUT TOBY IS A NICE KEYBOARDER
sevchyk niceness!
you have reason, jk is the spine of the band but the anothers musicians give it to the band this nice flavor
Jay Kay passing a joint to every band member on stage, legendary, also i love the salute after Stuart smokes it, what a cool dude haha

Jay Kay had such a great voice. He really created his own genre/sound , which is what makes Jamiroquai so great.
i love how right after that second hit, the bassist just gets so focused, you can tell hes feelin that shit, love it

+ToxicSpiker I don't smoke but I would love to hang out with him!
+Jessica Uyvette Thompson Yeah he really looks like a legitimately cool and chill bloke. The smoking would be just to enhance the experience but is not required. Also, I forgot he sold his Miura so it would have to be in his green La Ferrari ;)
ToxicSpiker I'll second that , cool!!!
I'll second that reply!!
Have fun! I will be chillin with Stuart Zender and Derrick McKenzie... RIP Toby Smith!
the power of Jason Kay is such that he is credible in saying "legalize" even if he smokes without inhaling
lol probably didn’t inhale as his heavy breathing solo would have turned into a coughing solo 😂
@@MrBillyboyroge you're probably right, but it's nicer to think he's so strong he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone
Probably had 6 joints before he even came out 😵💫😵💫😂😂
El bajo de Zender es totalmente funky hermano, groove y soul desde Chile por siempre!
How to recognize a good artist?
he lives his creation during his performances.
I love you Jamiroquai. Beautiful song. Wonderful
Ascolto con passione questo brano da 30 anni e non avevo mai visto questa performance, la migliore in assoluto, da brividi!!
Hi from Puerto rico 🇵🇷🇵🇷❤❤ RIP Toby... I miss stuart and jay together best 90s
Damn nigga lights up a joint on stage and does the puff puff pass with the band. Jamiroquai kicks ass so fucking hard right now.
we miss Mr Zender !!! He had that little magic in playing !
melhor banda de funky soul
How has this not got a million views!!!!
SEE, IT´S A CRAZY WORLD WE´RE LIVING IN!!!!! lalararallala!!!
Right!
Cause these kids today have nothing, NOTHING, to compare this to musically. They don’t even know music like this exists...sad
Ten million
Awesome performance, so cool always loved these cool musicians, excellent 🎵🥁🎸🎵🥁🎸🎵😎👍
