    The flintlock piece is awesome, Craig. I like that old rock chisel you found, looks like a huge spike!❤

    Love the flintlock pieces. I found a “Frizzen” while going after another target. Probably my oldest find to date. Love this hobby!!!

    Your "massive spike" is a old rock chisel. These were used to split and shape rock for the foundations of houses and other buildings way back when.

      Cool! I was having trouble finding anything online about what that would have been for!

    Nice old flintlock piece, the horse tack also indicates you may have a really old site. Keep going back, you might find a old old coin

      It's been a great spot! I found a seated quarter there last year and countless Indian heads and Civil War Relics!

    Lots of cool Iron Relics. Love the Flint Lock Side Piece. I've found a few of those where I'm at. Two of them has text on it. My last one has a very nice design on it. Two of them still had the hammer on them. Congrats. Love the little Victorian Piece also. Take Care Crazie Digging

    Very cool finds.
    I warched this on my phone, and my old eyes are very likely playing tricks on me.
    Regarding your lockplate ("flintlock" plate). Is there only the one visible large hole? Is there at least one much smaller hole near the other end? Around the half-circular cutout near the middle, does it appear as if there was a piece/protrusion coming off the plate there at one time? These features would, indeed, point to a flintlock. To my eyes they are not present, and therefore lead to my opinion that this artifact, while being a lockplate, is not from a flintlock, but rather a percussion lock. Although heavily corroded, the shape also suggests the later design and technology.
    My guess is mid-1800s, with almost certainty of seeing service during the ACW.
    Still a great find with much historical value. I'm jealous.
    Thanks for sharing your terrific finds.

      There were two other small holes one directly behind the large hole and one and the end of the other side, there may be more hidden by corrosion but those were the two spots I could definitely see some!

      Just looked up what you're talking about and I do believe you're right! Looks more closely to that!

      @UnearthArkansas wow! Three replies. LOL
      I'm more than happy to help, especially if anybody learns from it. Closing in on 40 years of building and shooting the muzzleloaders, it gets to where you hope it's not wasted knowledge lol.
      Glad it worked out. Keep up that great hobby.
