Whilst driving in Sydney it came on the radio that he had died. The news actually stunned me. I continued driving but I wasn't really there. Thanks for the music !!
I was lucky enough to see him interviewed & perform in an identical setting to this at the Los Angeles Grammy Museum Theatre , 2 weeks before he died & 3 weeks before he was scheduled to perform at the Basement in Sydney. I have many of his cd's & had seen him at the Basement 17yrs earlier. Sadly his passing left a huge hole in the Swamp Blues genre.
Sooo moving.. One if his very last public appearance before he passed away. Such a sweet touch of the Strato.. Such a deep voice.. One of the very greatest and best kept secret on the music scene. Merci Tony Joe. Rest in peace in swamp paradise
I wish the sound engineer would have noticed Tony was eating the mic and barely singing. Turn is monitor up to the point he's an inch away and the pressure Tony pushes with his voice is comfortable. Tony would have the "room" to dynamically express himself,
. other than that, a great moment captured.
And again, may be wh
at Tony wants.
No monitors in this environment
RIP Tony Joe White. What a voice. What a legend. Thank you for the musical memories.
👍👍
Thank you for sharing this video ...the world was less cool 😎 when Tony Joe passed away . I loved his music 🐊
This man is one of the greatest musical treasures in America with a distinctive sound and style like no other musician. Tony Joe and John Fogerty are the masters of the swamp sound. It was a sad day when Tony Joe left us five years ago so suddenly. Rest in peace you old stud.
One of my favorites Blues Man Great Vocalist wrote so many great songs.
His timing his beat is so exact .Ive watched plenty of other Blues artists, none like this . Thanks Tony for all you left behind, RIP ...
Such a wonderful ❤ singer and song 🎵 writer. I'm so sad a I never got to see him and even sadder I didn't even know about him until 2022
I'm 75 years old. I am under his Spell Mesmerized and can't stop listening to all his songs .
Terrific voice soulful grooves and a great musician.Would have deserved much more attention. He never had the worldwide recognition he deserves. R.I.P TONY JOE
Hard to believe that a month later, he'd be dead .....under-rated musician and singer-songwriter....
Tony has left the building. My God time files. RIP Tony. 😭
This video, both pleasure and pain. Hearing and watching Tony, and Fleetwood play. knowing that Tony left us less than a month later.
A true legend what a cool dude bless you brother

Elvis didn't make Poke Salad Annie famous. Tony Joe did.
TJW had a huge hit with that song , it was great
@@MrRemo58 Because he WROTE it.
@@jltrem
I know he did
I’m just now getting into tony Joe.. Polk salad Annie I came across when looking for the Elvis version... Tony does it so much better!! Wished I knew of him during this New York visit
Saw a clip with him playing with Johnny Cash. They both looked like they had a little bit of “Polk salad” backstage. Legend
Many Moons ago i was playing a solo gig in a Bar north of Brisbane, Queensland Australia and I put on some recorded music when I took a break. A guy asked me who it was on the mellow track playing and i said "Man, that is Tony Joe White!"
The guy said he would pick up as many albums as he could next day. "You're welcome Tony Joe White ~ ha ha" 🎵🎸 Love ya Man, hope you are at peace and dreaming up more songs somewhere in a spirit world. 💥
Meanest ass voice ever recorded. Sends shivers down my back.
He passed soon after this. I played one of his songs in a little restaurant in Rome, not realizing he had died. Then 3 days later in Thailand, I asked a guy on stage if I could play a song. And though I was sad about TJ, I think I did a good version of Hoodoo now.
That Stratocaster sound...sweet
Fantastic!
This guy is a TOTAL badass. He's 74, and he could knock me into next Thursday.
Even trolls love Tony Joe White ! Was at an older friends place & asked if he liked Tony, his wife said what ! , went & pulled a pile of TJW records from
the shelf ......
All well worn, for good reason !
Beautiful music!
That is one badass guitarstrap... suits him.
wonderfull ....... thank you Mr. White forever ...... greetings from Germany!
I like Fleetwood better than Brian, too!
Love your music
music in perfection for all time.
RIP Wah-wah Master. J.J. Cale and Mark Knopfler are his sons. Hard to accept that, in the meantime, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber don't even have a whitlow...
