Simply amazing - his playing, and the wonderful sound of that Érard. I had an Érard 6’ , probably 1840 vintage, but it wasn’t as powerful as this piano.
Takes your breath away, doesn't it!? One instrument. A sound like this! No wonder Liszt was the talk of the town. He knew what he had and he played it for all it was worth!
It would have been Nice if the camera man had showed also the Fall-board and keys of this piano and the pianists hands from different angles. The whole thing was filmed from One angle!!! What were they thinking??
Repent and trust in Jesus. Hes the only way. We deserve Hell because weve sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him. John 3:16 Romans 3:23❤😊❤😊❤
I don't know too much about giving concerts, but once my teacher took the lids off from the two pianos of my school, and then they sounded monstrously loud and powerful, like never before.
I think there's a video by Kris Bezuidenhout somewhere, where he describes the function of the lid for focusing and projecting the sound of a modern Steinway, as opposed to much older pianos like Mozart's Walter (and of course more recent copies). It would be interesting to hear about where an 1859 Erard fits in that regard.

Wow.. I feel it in my body. My life has changed forever. I'll never say I don't like Liszt ever again.
For me... I still don't like Liszt much, too cold, too technical. :D But he wrote a few amazing pieces.
How pleasant it is to see harpsichords on stage behind the piano, instead of the other way round.
Thanks for this performance on the kind of piano with which Liszt was familiar.
Oh, my ... to be able to finally hear close to what Liszt heard, on an instrument and in the TUNING he would have had! THANK YOU!
Fascinating! Close to the instrumental sound ideal of the composer during composition.
the first time i heard the entire sonata, just divine, one of the most complex works by liszt played really well.

Absolutně miluju tuhle skladbu a už roky si přeju slyšet ji na dobový klavír. A tady je navíc ve fantastickém provedení. Díky!!
Outsanding performance !!
Gorgeous instrument as well !!
Wish I could play Liszt Sonata like that... !!

When you listen this, you understand why Liszt liked so much Erard pianos, it’s juste to beautiful
Bravissimo

Impressionante la sonorità piena del pianoforte Erard e la mostruosa bravura del giovane pianista !
Amazing performance; well done!
Very nice performance ! Lots of work ;-) congratulations

So...wow
Is this a straight-strung piano? Tough to tell from the viewpoint.
Yes. (See view at 15:10 and a bit after.)
I believe it is ... But it's easy to think it's a modern grand because of all the support beams! I bet it's all wood inside too

Is there any topic or video that religious nutters won't litter with their outpourings‽
The way the piano is tuned is weird... I can't listen to this performance without feeling weird...
I wonder why they took the lid off; it probably sounds even better with it on (and open, of course).

What an amateur! He should watch Leslie Howard's video on this piece.
This sonata is OK, but too much like 111, ya know?
But given that this sonata was modeled after 111 (consider the descending dim seventh motif), that's kinda the point…
