Colubrids fascinates me more than boas and pythons but I find them harder to handle and I find them to be more nervous and easily frightned. And also they are faster in their movements.
I do handle them but not as often as my sandboas, my rosy boa and my bal python because those are all slow moving and easier to handle.

only if you don't clean terrariums for long periods of time. Due to the accumulation of dirt bad smells will occur as for all animals but reptiles do not stink normally
I can't speak about other reptiles but snakes, in my experience, are cleaner than dogs and cats. They don't get stinky if their enclosure is kept clean, most are fed once a week or less and defecate one time for each time they are fed. If the enclosures are cleaned regularly and spot cleaned anytime there is a mess all you'll smell is the substrate. I use aspen so I smell a clean wood smell.

My awful stepmother basically killed my first snake. I had always wanted one, and finally got one. Responsibility fell to her and my dad, mostly her because my dad worked, while I was at my mom's for a week. She said she liked it so she kept feeding it when I got back, but eventually it died. Her explanation? It wasn't eating. Her attempts to feed it were literally just dragging dead baby mice by the tail through the cage. It was a baby. I feel so bad, like it was my fault, even though deep down I know it wasn't, but the guilt has stuck with me and I haven't been able to bring myself to try again since. I'm tearing up just thinking about it now. I only had it for 5 weeks, but as a 13 year old I bonded with it amfaster than you could imagine. In any case, bitch stepmother has gone on to dox my grandma, threaten my mom, and spout libel about my brother. Safe to say I don't live there anymore.
