I just started taking cello lessons three and a half months ago with the Suzuki book and I can't wait to get to this part! It would be so exciting to be able to play this beautiful piece.
My notes on Abigail's video: :35 walking fingers - opening bar - fingers start G, just 1st finger moved to make E on D string, then others join it, then 1st & 2nd fingers move to make C on A string, then others join them 1:09 work on bars 23-24 (starts: triplet B-C-D) - could think of it as an extension reaching for G# - but she likes to think of it as a shift into lower 2nd position --4th finger on G, replace w 3rd finger, very small (use right hand to point to G) --thumb definitely needs to be moving - thumb is most important finger in shift --practice shift just left hand 2:26 try bars 23-24 pizzicato - shift half step for G# - tunnel - then shift half step back for B 2:40 practice pizz 4X 3:18 add bow 4X practice 4:00 play song 2X - no repeats (because it's lunch and AMcHG is hungry!) - slower, then quicker 4:07 1 time thru slower w/o repeats 6:10 1 time thru faster w/o repeats 7:34 Yay end of Book 1! (Yay, nice to be back studying AMcHG's videos again!) concepts walking fingers half tone shift 1st position to lower second (for G# on D string)
