One small detail in the behind the scenes was he is eating pills but also when in a different color hoodie he is eating almonds so a string reference to the amygdala. Beautiful but so tragic and relatable.
Yoongi really opened up to us. This may be healing for him , to face his pain and trauma.. and for us, who are also going through the same thoughts... What really pained me about this song and MV, is finally knowing how he held all of this in. Not just while in pre debut, but through out his career. This are not really things you can just talk about in the open, not especially as an Idol who, aside from working hard , are always being hated on for no reason. Holding onto those pain, alone in your mind😭 .. knowing now that he was the one who inflicted that scar in order to cope with all the turmoil he must have been feeling, thus creating AGUST D, the one filled with anger, pain and malice 🥹 he was suffering and yet only tried to give us his best .. How must he have felt, after all his schedule and concerts, going back alone in his hotel room😭.. I'm glad he has his members with him ready to support and help him out. But after seeing this MV, I can never see that scar as anything but pain and proof of Yoongis strength and perseverance 🥹 thank u Yoongi for sharing us urself. you are strong . u deserve all the best .🥲🥲🥲🥲 #agustd #dday #amygdala
I completely agree! Looking back at his past works now it seems like he was trying to let us know what he was going through on smaller, subtler ways but was never able to be as open and direct as he finally felt like he could be now. 💔
Saw another reaction to this MV and what the reactor said in that video, stuck with me and every time I see this MV or hear a heavy AGUST D song, I think about it. Something along the lines of "we project anger in order to mask what we truly feel." and I just think that sums up AGUST D lyrics very well. Adoring chapter 2 Yoongi so much. This man has had my ARMY heart right from the start. 💜
Very insightful and informed reaction! The only thing you may have overlooked in your first viewing: the scar was only meant to symbolize the dark alter ego Suga created to deal with his pain, fear, and depression, which is also seen in the other parts of the trilogy
He's eating Almonds it's a reference to a book where the mother says that almonds help the amygdala part of the brain to work. It's a book a about boy who can't express emotions.
Your reaction to the scene where he crawls toward the door was mine as well.. I saw that and I had to stop cus my heart broke.... I know a visual representation of depression when I see it... Its the crawling and struggling to get out of yourself.
and the incline of the floor was soooo incredibly steep visually at the end, its like how do you even get to the door with gravity like that! I wouldn't be surprised why ppl keep sliding when they experience similar stuff! You'd literally need some claws like wolverine to get to the door!
in his vlive reacting to the album/MVs, he mentioned intentionally leaving the ending of "Amygdala" open-ended. He left it up to our interpretation, but the yoongi with the cut on his eye could get back up and open the door since they never said it was locked.
Hi Kaye Absolutely loved your raw& heartfelt reaction to this piece. I was SO lucky to hear this live at his Chicago show- it’s incredible & everyone around me had tears running down their cheeks. To me I don’t see the razor& bloody scar as physical but more so emotional self harm. Holding everything inside, not asking for help, unhealthy coping mechanisms can cause immeasurable amounts of pain..we become stuck& repeat the same detrimental patterns. I believe he’s showing his frustration of dealing with his physical& mental health issues on his own for so long. The scene of him crawling across the floor as the room tilts, showing that mental health care is a lifelong uphill battle- the torrential downpour is the release of his pent up emotional pain/ trauma- the look of realisation on his younger self’s face as he rushes back to the door- pleading with his Amygdala to erase his past & present painful experiences. Of course the door stays shut bc that’s impossible and he wouldn’t be the man he is today without those experiences in his life. Their lives seem so perfect and glamorous but they are human - they feel loneliness, anxiety, depression, insecurities… hidden behind a carefully crafted public persona. I will always admire Yoongi’s openness& honesty in his works- this album is truly a masterpiece 💜
In the three videos that comprised the scar trilogy, there are three Yoongi's/Suga's/Agust D's Amygdala The almond eater in the green hoodie is an observer Daechwita The peasant in the pointy hat that hides his face is the bridge between Suga and Agust D Haegeum The tangerine thief is the selfish part of his character that only wants to indulge in things he likes I see a lot of army's don't realize these are separate characters but also important to the overall storyline.
The way I take the end of the video is that, if Yoongi had known then that he was going to get into an accident, and had known the suffering and trauma and hardships that would come from it, he would have never taken that route/put himself through that. So this is portrayed as his past self trying to save his current self. But like the song says - what's done is done. The accident happened. There's no way to make it not happen because it's already passed. The only one who can get Yoongi out of that dark room is the Yoongi from now. He has to fight through.
@@kayepopreactions43 A hopeful thing though - this is the only video out of the Daechwita/Haegeum/Amygdala trilogy where a version of Yoongi doesn't die. And, on a deeper level, and the thought of a bit dower but, it's the only one of the three where he doesn't, essentially...unalive himself? Which, since he said that the three videos are all connected and should be watched in this order, I can't imagine it's insignificant. I think it shows growth. The struggle is still occurring, but things are getting better.
I like a lot that your reaction and thoughts is very similar to mine. The dissociation, decisions, trying to cope, to integrate the pain… As a Person who can relate a lot to the imagery of the video, I feel very seen and deeply connected…to know that there is someone who understands so well and does not try to sugarcoat or make an inspirational happily ever after out of it is really helpful. He wants the world to see and bear with us. Sometimes healings means learning to accept that you are not okay. There’s peace in it. And there’s nothing wrong with living like that, like he say’s in people.
loved ur reaction and commentary! idk if u know the connection w the almonds but the term amygdala comes from the latin word for almond bc amygdala are almond shaped
@@skyedestiny yes!!! i read the book after i saw him and joon reading it on in the soop and in the book his mom would make him eat almonds thinking it would make his condition better
What Yoonge was eating in the first scene (almonds) taking back to song title (amygdala) You seem to be intelligent person, I'm sure that you can figure out your self 😊
that interpretation is also very applicable. This is why ppl shouldn't jst be so quick to judge/cancel. We need to empathize and expand our understanding/intuition so much more. In certain circumstances like in a disease/problem...it's best to be able to identify it to enable the healer to cure it better or faster. What I feel was the trauma also are the decisions/choices the young Yoongie needed to make! He chose the path of being a musician/artist with such a slim chance of succeeding since BigHit was so small & in a financial hole....all while knowing his parents didn't want/couldn't afford that risk because of their severe financial problems. liver cancer & cardiac problems....are no ordinary health issues! It's like the decision has no room for error! The worse stress was the knowing the team also depended on you so you cnt show any weakness. How can he even create with so much anger and hate circling around him? Thank God things turned out well with the health of his parents . It was so critical for the members, Bang PD/BH & Army to succeed in helping everyone fight their way through and succeed! It helped that they were open about the struggle....it made them even more relatable and human....all that imperfection which in the eyes of other might look like ugly ore but inside, its actually precious gold. I'd imagine the guilt if his parents' health turned to the worse or if they didn't succeed...That is soooo much stress that certainly isn't for the weak. He knew the consequences of leaving the family & getting into so much financial trouble pursuing your dream. For Yoongie, BTS/BH/Army to bloom so beautifully like a lotus flower....that gives me smch hope for the amazing capacity of human beings to pull together and work for the good of the planet and each other.
I love that interpretation so much! I think to me though this song was so personal to him that the "your" was either something very internal or directed at the past memory he was having to dig up over and over.

You will be glad to know at the very end of Sugas very last concert he opened and went through the white door.

The contents of your bookshelves are freakishly similar to mine. :P
LOL! Really? XD
loved ur reaction and commentary! idk if u know the connection w the almonds but the term amygdala comes from the latin word for almond bc amygdala are almond shaped
thank you for this information....so interesting to know that....the artistry and symbolism in the film is out of this world.
It also had to do with a book Yoongi read about a guy who had an under-active amygdala. He was told to eat almonds to get it to function better.
I learned about that after from watching other reaction channels actually! 😅 I had no idea!
