    These lights are the absolute best. They're bright as hell but yet not blinding on the eyes. Pretty big power draw though if you have lots wired up.

    Useful tip: If you accidently turned ON motion detection and want it off completely, there's a combination of buttons to press to turn it off (doesn't say in the instruction book, I've learnt this from a comment somewhere and want to share it).
    You need to hold for 5 seconds the 4 top left buttons together while the lights are open, and it will disable the motion detection. The 4 buttons are ''Power'', ''Brightness - 10%'', ''Time until Dim - Off'' & ''Time until Off - Off''. If you press all 4 of those buttons on the top left of the remote at the same time for 5 seconds, when you turn off the lights again, they won't turn on when motion happens near the lamp.
    I've had to do this twice in the 2 years I've had the lamp, when I accidently click the button to turn motion detection on.

    Thank you for mention it can’t be hardwired I was gonna buy and I couldn’t find it on the label or on the box. I think I would go to Prince auto and get the one for 10,000 Loomis and it’s a quality built better than this cheap one I’ve seen it at Costco too. It’s nothing great flimsy cover on it and everything, I kinda stepped away from it. I’m glad I did.

    Great light when it is working properly. I have had this light for just under a year and I loved it. But in the past week it has started flickering for no apparent reason. As there doesn't seem to be a solution in the troubleshooting section of the manual I can only conclude that these things are not built to last . I will not purchase another one .

      Just bought one at Costco. Put in the pantry behind a closed door. But with the door closed, the light will still turn on when tyou walk outside the door, 8 ft away. On minimal motion setting sensing!!

      Hello Rehanmw, the motion sensor can be turned off by following the instructions on page 10 on the user manual. Additionally, the motion sensor is integrated inside the fixture behind the lens. The reason why the fixture is turning on, even when the door is closed, is the type of sensor being used inside fixture. Please contact our customer service team if you have any additional questions. I installed in our bedroom walk-in closet. The closet is smaller and does not any lighting.
    Thought I would love the motion sensor function. However...
    The motion sensor is so powerful that it sensed motion through walls in the adjacent bathroom and when the closet doors were Closed. So, when sleeping, when the dogs walked by, they set the sensor and lights on. Very annoying even on the lowest setting of 6 feet.
    I’ve tried turning off the motion sensor and left it on manually (was how we wanted to use it) but it works. Let me say it was not as simple as turning off the sensor. The sensor still turned on no matter what I did. Finally got it to manual, but my wife accidentally pressed a wrong button activating the motion sensor and now I can’t for the life of me turn off the sensor and make it manual. The instructions in the manual are a pain

      Similar issue here, it keeps turning on for no apparent reason. Mine is in the garage. Even if no one is near it, I can see that the light is turning on. Garage is a little drafty (maybe more then a little) and i have hung it from the chains, not sure if it sways and that causes it to activate. I turned all the time setting to Off and the Ambient Light to Off as well. Now it works Remote only.

    • @juanibarra5879
      @juanibarra5879 3 роки тому +2

      Update: I’ve just realized the motion sensors are too powerful and can actually read motion through walls and closet doors. So, I’ve deactivated the motion sensors entirely. I hate that I have to physically touch the remote, but that’s all I can do for now.

      Hello Jainandan, the clamps used for the fixture to installed to the ceiling are designed to securely hold the fixture in place. In order to remove the fixture, try using a long tool, such as a prybar, to get behind the fixture and pull it down. If you do not have a prybar, you can grab one end of the fixture and pull down to detach it from the clips. Its going to be a tight fit, so be careful if you are on a ladder. Hi James! Thank you for reaching out. The sensor may be detecting movement through walls and doors. We suggest to select a smaller motion detection range such as Very Near. If you want the motion sensor completely off:
      Switch Time Until Dim to OFF, then switch Time Until Off to OFF, and turn the Ambient Light Sensor to OFF and the distance to Very Near.

    • @KodaBuilt
      @KodaBuilt  2 роки тому

      Hello Swank Goddess, the majority of our LED Ceiling Lights are designed to hardwired directly to the junction box located in the ceiling. Based on how the fixtures are mounted, as well as electrical codes, offering a LED Ceiling Light with a code and plug would not be acceptable. If you are looking for general lighting, we do offer LED Shop Lights with a cord and plug, however they are not going to be aesthetically pleasing for being installed inside a living area. You may want to contact your leasing office and inquire if they would be able to install a fixture for you. KODA

  • @stevebritt

    Bought three at Costco. Very disappointed. The lights cannot be hard-wired or directly attached to the ceiling (without major customization). It was not made clear on the packaging that they could not be permanently installed or I would not have bought them. If you spread them out over your ceiling, you will have multiple exposed cords. The light cover is not removeable. I'm also not comfortable with the two flimsy spring clips that hold them to the ceiling. I am trying to figure out a way to prevent the lights from popping out of the clips and unto my cars over time due to the very flimsy construction. I also discovered as I was installing them that one fixture had a small blue colored swirl in the light cover. The electronic part of the light is great, the rest is of throw-away construction.

      @@stevebritt They are lightweight construction, but I don't plan on hammering in nails with the lights. Once installed, why would they need to be any stouter than they are?
      The clips are going to hold these lights in just fine. Once snapped in, they aren't randomly falling down. I snapped a clip in with the light on my bench to see how well they clipped and had a hard time pulling the clip off.
      As long as they light up and last years as they should, I don't see that they need to be built like tanks. I also was caught off guard by the wiring. So I simply installed outlets at the end of the existing wiring and plugged them in.

    • @stevebritt
      @stevebritt 3 роки тому

      @@thatguythatdoesstuff7448 I think they will probably last years as well, but all my observations are nonetheless true. Old school shop lights basically lasted forever until you hit them with something to break them or wore out the ballast (which was replaceable). Relying on the tension of two small non-spring steel clips in very thin wall plastic is an extremely poor design. The only reason it works at all is because the assemblies are so light weight in design. Eventually, when attached to a hot ceiling with a straight pull from gravity acting on them 24/7 they will detach. I wired mine near the center of the length with a minimum of extra wire so when the clips or plastic inevitably fail, the fixture shouldn't drop more than 8". I would add, just in the last two weeks the motion sensing feature of one of my three lights has started to fail.

    • @thatguythatdoesstuff7448
      @thatguythatdoesstuff7448 3 роки тому +2

      @@stevebritt That's disappointing to hear regarding the sensors. I've tried multiple configurations for sensors and lights.
      I had Commercial Electric LED lights and a Lutron occupancy sensor. The CE lights had one fail within a few weeks and CE refused to provide service because I installed them. As if this is brain surgery...
      The Lutron isn't ideal because it can't see important parts of the garage installed in a box on the wall. And it's a pain to reprogram. The Koda lights are a one button reprogram if I'm going to be in the garage for a while and I need them on.
      So far, the Koda lights are functioning exactly as I want. But durability is basically out the window for anything these days it seems, so I just have to cross my fingers and hope they last.

      There is no wifi feature. The issue is Koda uses a microwave sensor to detect motion. It works in the same frequency range as 5GHz wifi. So if you have many of these say in a garage it will absolutely destroy your 5GHz WiFi around in every direction. The remote is IR based like your TV and is not the issue. Poor design using a microwave sensor for motion.

      Sounds like you may have low voltage intrusion on your neutral wiring in your home. If you're using them at setting dimmer than full, dimmers sometimes pass that low voltage to the light and it will light up.
      I have the same issue in my kitchen where LED lights are sometimes dimly lit when the dimmer switch is fully off.
      Or, these seem to have an odd behavior that if you select the moonlight setting, they don't respond to the auto on auto off feature.

      @@thatguythatdoesstuff7448 I did. I originally bought a 2 pack from Costco. My electrician friend hard-wired them (vs. plugging them in) so they always have power. So basically anytime you walk in the garage they turn on. The one had the very dim glow when off, the other stopped turning on after maybe 14 months or so. I bought a single replacement (Costco) and he rewired it the same way to replace the bad one. So... perhaps taking them apart and modifying them caused the issue? Hard for me to tell, but the friend who did it is an experienced electrician so I know it wasn't a hack job.

    • @thatguythatdoesstuff7448
      @thatguythatdoesstuff7448 3 роки тому +1

      @@RideByNight I doubt hard wiring them caused any problems. Most common failure is going to be the LED driver circuit. If they spent $2 more on the components, it would probably last until the LEDs themselves burned out.
      No one has the foresight to build something that lasts, charge a bit more for it and become a household name anymore.
      Fast dollar is all they want.

      @@trumbley22 The microcontroller that controls the functions has non-volatile memory. Pretty standard these days. I had family that visited and they kept turning off the switch to the garage lights. All setting were retained.
      When I bought my house, all the garage lights and workshop lights were the old school fluorescent tube units. As the tubes burned out, I've just wired outlets into place and plugged these in.
      The utility room in the basement had one pathetic light socket. I replaced that with an outlet, linked 3 of these together and bam, I can see everything in there now. And having outlets everywhere has been handy on a number of occasions.

      @@LOOregano thank you for sharing. I thought of doing it as well but I broke few clamps like them before because they are brittle, so I dropped that idea.
      What I did was to instead attach the bracket to V shape hooks they provide. Then there is another type of keychain hook. So V shape hook is then attached to that hook. I removed the chain as I don’t want it. Now key chain hook becomes like a you know how those keyhole type fasteners, where you can simply hang the photo frame. I screwed on wall then hang the light. It stays but slanted, but I guess I am fine with it, I can put foam maybe if I want it straight. But at least this gives me flexibility to just hang and remove.

    Horrible lights. Bought them at Costco - the picture on the box is deceptive. Chains are much much shorter in the package than what is pictured. Same applies to interconnecting lights. There is no way they are going to look as nice as they are on that box. What the hell happened to Costco, for allowing such deceptive cheap marketing tactics sip into their offerings? More over, there is no way to deactivate the motion sensor. God forbid anything moves inside or outside the house, the lights turn on in the middle of the night. I see I am not the only person with this problem. I have a suspicion there is no way to fix the sensor issue. Koda doesn't give a solution, only tells you to contact their support. Never again anything from Koda; and a big dent in Costco's reputation for letting them into the Costco store.
