What a race, and such fantastic commentary. Hats off all ‘round.

Joe Fanning underrated jockey often jocked off by you know whom.

Even though he'd won the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot back in April, still couldn't help but feel like those three straight losses last backend, two in France in the Prix Foy & Arc de Triomphe, and then a battering in the British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot might've bruised his psyche a bit not used to losing that often. And the Ascot race was arguably the worst race Stradivarious has run to date in a staying race at group level. To me, Subjectivist always looked like the steady improver in this field between his win in the G1 Prix Royal-Oak in France and his demolishing of the G2 Dubai Gold Cup field at Meydan. Really impressed with his performance in the Ascot Gold Cup, and not really as much unimpressed at the performance of Stradivarius as I was the really unispired looking ride he got from Frankie Dettori, IMO.

      He was given no chance
Even if he’d got a dream run up the rails he left him too much to do in the last 3f.
He may have got within a length but wouldn’t have won.
I knew he had no chance going past the 12f post.
If he’d been ridden alongside or ahead of Serpentine I’m quite certain Stradivarius would have won.
If he’d been sitting 5th at Swinley Bottom he wins.

Not Frankie's finest hour by any means. Trying to go the shortest way round is one thing but surely it leaves Stradivarius open to the boxing in tactics he received from Princess Zoe and the others. Subjectivist won on merit and credit to Joe Fanning for attacking when he had the chance.

Sadly he just didn’t get his chance at Ascot.
Would have been nice if he was beaten that he’d at least got beaten on his merits
