The $1 junk Sony PlayStation 1 restoration - Vintage Console repair - ASMR

- On my trip to find stuff to restore at the local junk market, I saw this PS1 console in this bad condition, I decided to restore it and give it a new chance to live again.
PS1 Model: SCPH-7502
SONY Playstation 1 SCPH-7502 Region Free PS1
Region of Manufacture: JAPAN
During the disassembly, I found the remains of a spider and a spider nest. It's very common I find bugs inside these old devices, I'm, not sure why, maybe they're dark and warm places.
When I tested the console, I noticed the green power LED didn't light up. After opening the console, I replaced the capacitors with new ones. I also cleaned the boards with dust and isopropyl alcohol.
I then washed the plastics in soapy water to remove all grime and grease in preparation for the next step which was to soak them in Cream Peroxide Developer 40 Volume and UV light for several days to remove the years of yellowing that has taken place, This process is also known as retr0brite.

So satisfying to see an old PS1 come back to life, especially since nowadays we're at PS5. The original was fun nostalgia as a kid.
Not as fun anymore with having to deal with the CD drive failing, find a good HDMI adaptor, 240p to 480i resolution switching, region locking and capacitor replacements.
@@MichaelM28 HDMI? They're not designed for flatscreens. Besides, I still have a CRT.
Thank you, I really appreciate it.
I used to play on a 29 inch CRT from the early 90's with my PS1, and the graphics on that looked pretty damned good.
Thanks! I agree with you, PS1. designed for CRT TVs
I love how this guy saves the broken consoles. It's like he comes to them and says: "Come. You've suffered long enough. It's time for you to be happy."
Ah yes, the very well known flea market without anybody but one person. with consoles that are deliberately sprinkled with mud both inside and out ah yes...totally authentic...yes yes...
You think he did it himself?
@@MichaelM28 I have watched a lot of restoration video's and after him cleaning the shell of the PS1, it doesn't have any scratches and dents on the shell either. Things like that should of had those on the shell, because that's what makes old consoles look old after being used for many years. Also he's putting in a copied disc of the game Crash Bandicoot and not a official PS1 game into the console.
@@bazzerker35s because he knows there's a modchip inside from the disassembly.
@@bazzerker35s *should've
@@Mrshoujo Is that the only thing you posted, just to tell me how to say something right. Im not trying to impress anyone like you do.
Mad nostalgia! PS1 was my very first console. All I played was Crash, Spyro & Fighting Force.
Crash & winning eleven and Pepsi man, Thanks for the visit
@@resEG if you wont mind, what do you used to remove corrosion from electrons?
As always, great job dude!
Cheers from Brazil.
I find this type of video very satisfying, I really admire its content. A hug from Brazil!!
You do realize they're taking a PS in good shape and destroying it to make this video right? It's a scam to get on the fixing hype on youtube. It is the same every time and it's a shame people fall for it because it means more people will do it. There's nothing actually getting repaired.
I loved the beginning when you see it. That was so damn sad. Sorry, I get emotional at discarded electronics sometimes. You did a beautiful job and made Dash Dingo alive again!
I am old enough to remember the PS1 being the big thing. Stores sold out because everyone wanted one. So sad that so many, dare I say most have been abandoned and left to rust.
I felt sad when I saw it in this condition, I had beautiful days with PS1 it is my childhood. Thanks for the visit
@@resEG Yes. I rescued a very dirty Wii last sunday from a carboot sale. It works perfect but I had to clean it. Anyway, I love your YT channel because unlike many it is not fake. Thank you and keep up the excellent work.
I still use mine.
I agree. I luckily found one last year that was in great condition and got two controllers with it. The nostalgia is unmatched
I still have mine and it's safely packed away in a waterproof tote, until I can build my dream gaming wall!
Really helpful video, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you
Man that is one incredible restoration! I'd have taken one look at that rust and been like, "Next!" Lol
Absolute nostalgia, PS1 was my childhood, I used to played Crash 2, gran turismo 1 and 2 and Fighting Force 2.
Unfortunately note 5. the plate was not clean, it would be necessary to soak it in isopropyl alcohol and then dry it in the oven, and put the metal plates in water with an acid solution to remove all the rust and then paint it with aluminum color paint.
Love to see those. Suggestion: Next time I would clean the screws/spring also
Another classic console saved from the scrap heap 😎👍. Nice work ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks! I’m glad you like it.
Keep up the good work!!!interesting and fascinating to watch!!! Fantastic!!!Inspiration to you👍
Très fort quel talent, big up depuis la France 😉
You are a brave man to try to turn it on before looking inside...
Keep up the great work pal
So satisfying
Du er rå! Nydelig å se forskjellen :D
I love the cleaning with soap part pretty satisfying to watch
Thanks buddy!
Did the light not work at the end?
Excelente video, tu haces magia amigo. Saludos desde Colombia
¡Gracias amigo!
Well done! Just keep going
It's seen better days. Glad you got it working
Thanks for kind words!
Nice work. Gonna admit, these things aren't scarce enough in decent working condition for me to even remotely consider spending that amount of time getting a complete basket case like that one running again.

Excellent job restoration the Playstation console 👍👍👌👌
Thanks! I’m glad you like it.
Case looks nice with the internal components you swapped out from a working unit to make a fake restoriation video.
Amazing video thank you for sharing
Thanks! I’m glad you like it.
you can use rust remover(mc51) for metal parts
I like it so satisfying and nostalgia
How could anyone let an original Sony Playstation go to waste like that smh. Good Content
You're a hardworker man... You deserve a pat on the back
That thing looks like brand new, you sir, got skill xD xD
It is just criminal to see these consoles in these conditions 😓
Very cool to see the pickup, I always wonder in what kinds of places do you find consoles in such bad shape.
Looks like a third world market. Maybe someone was selling old electronics they find in landfills for parts or something
I'm a fan of your channel
Trabalho lindo parabéns 👏👏👏👏👌👌👍🇧🇷🇧🇷
That was an incredible restoration project!
From a junk yard to look completely brand new!
It’s a scam don’t fall for it 😅
Def fake
*Hello Brother Restoration EG!!! Awesome Video of Repair PS1 Fat Console!!! Super Big Thumbs Up...* 😎😁😀📱💁🏻♂️📺🎥🎬🎮🕹💿📼✌👍
That's the dirtiest Ps1 I've ever seen. The only youtuber I know of that saves consoles instead of trashing them
my brother just said is that a mother board and i was like this is not a pc
Hi I'm new to the channel I've hit subscribe that was awesome
Está quedando muy bien
Amazing
Parabéns pelo trabalho
You had me the whole time believing this was legit. Putting the part where you replaced Capacitors was a nice touch. The part that blew it up for me was when you were playing you could obviously tell the system wasn't working. There was no Green LED, you cut away before it even powered on to the system already running.....
I see some kind of light coming through there, it could be the heavy flourescent light above making it harder to see the green glow...but something is there lighting up. Though he didnt show it booting which can be suspect.
i hope you realise that 90% of these videos are fake anyway
@@zarreff it was glowing before he plugged anything in. I suspect either flourescent paint or editing.
What did you use to clean off the shell?
Good job mate
Thanks! I’m glad you like it.
Is there a problem with using burnt oil to remove oxidation from electronic boards?
Wow, you even managed to restore it with mod chip intact. It's crazy to think how someone once paid over 100 dollars for this system to be modded and then allowed it to go into such disrepair... I still have a working Atari 2600 (my first console). I can't stand to see a console rust like that.
its a fake restoration video
still got my original Playstation 1 I'm going to check it to is still working
Excelente trabajo saludos desde venezuela..
Ohhh god verygood
How much does it approximately cost for parts on a refurb like this PS1? Just curious
wow you made that thing look amazing!!
good job you saved the gaming history 3 month ago! (yes this comment was posted 3 month after its on youtube)
What are you using to clean these consoles?
Oh sweet Lord... But it's chipped, that's a plus!
Maestro de maestros
What do you use to clean the motherboard?
nice job
Thanks! I’m glad you like it.
The joypad with ps one is attached, which had analogs, and the joypad without them is visible. How do you explain that?
Was thinking the same thing lol
❤🎉 good 💯 restoration
Any restoration video that starts out with someone recording their find like that with no context before that is sus.
Great work , but I wish you make restoration for VHS player in someday.
Did you grab those four ps2 controllers (if I'm right if that's what they where) with the ps1?
“Rusty Ps1? I’ll take it!”
Muito bom, ótimo trabalho e vídeo honesto!
Que bom que você gosta deles!
Maravilloso
Is it just me or does the bottom sticker looks worse after?
This is what refurbishing is DKOldies
This has to be the greatest transformation!
Wow this device is dead but you returned him back to life that is amazing but the most thing that will make me crazy is that PS1, cost 1 dollar in our country it's at least cost 100 dollars🤯🤯
Nostalgia
Why did you put the rusty metal components back in the console wouldn’t that make it worse in the end
estoy deacuerdo contigo.

@@paulcoombes5581 oink!
Because it's fake lmao
Una buena pintura y pulido
The green light isn’t on and there’s a PSone (slim) controller plugged in, but the one you’re holding isn’t plugged in and it has no analog, which PSone controllers do.
yea im almost convinced the gameplay on the tv was not from that console
i noticed that too that the green light never came on....weird
Wrong original ps1 had no analogs whatsoever. So we know that controller is not a slim controller. Its an old og fat ps1 controller, 2 the light is on but its very dim. You can observe this if you were to adjust your brightness on your device to the lowest settings and you will see a dim green. Not trying to say its not a fake but the observations are not correct but it is fishy how he cut off on the bootup sequence when he first fixed it.
The green light very much came on. Look closer.
Wrong i saw green light power on and that could be a early hybrid of the PSone controller
Is it just me or did the power light not come on?
I wasn't around for the ps1 but this makes me wish I was
You can get one incredibly cheap now, prices on games vary though
@@neondreams0514 I recently got the ps2 and it's rlly fun I just wish I was there for the og hype yk?
I was around for it and it was indeed something else. Sony “advertised” them by having playable demo stations in dance clubs!
In the past , I think we all chipped our ps1 and play with engraved games 😆. Great video!!!
Es una leyenda
How many playstations were used for this video?
Ps1 reminds me when i was young at came from school everyday i play on Ps1 Super Mario
Magnífico
Mais um vídeo excelente. O único que não é fake.
