    Cool video , I run a 80/20 blend
    80% 4 stroke 30% nitro fuel and 20% #2 pump diesel in a OS 120 4 stroke with a GE-S2 turbo ...... it's a Frankinstine build but it does work "surprisingly"

that is correct a nitro engine will not run on straight up pump diesel Plus as you said the compression is too low. fortunately it is possible to convert a nitro Engine to diesel there’s a video for the OS 40 you can watch it’s rather interesting the guy changed the head and bought the proper fuel premixed for Small diesel hobby engines with the correct additives and with some tuning his engine now runs on diesel👍

speed demon it is possible you have to have a cylinder head with a contra piston which is basically an adjustable combustion chamber and you have to mix your own fuel accordingly it is possible but for the most part RC cars and a lot of other engines it's not practical they don't Reavis high they don't produce near the power you can convert most engines although you have to find all the correct parts and change over your fuel lines and fuel tank to be able to handle the petroleum I've been doing this for many years and experimented with it years and years ago it worked it was cool it wasn't fast it was hard to start in the cold etc etc

thebug 404 Check out Davis diesel development online it’s as simple as swapping out the head they sell the correct fuel then getting your tuning straightened out and that’s about it They even have kits for RC cars. pretty neat stuff👍😃

speed demon and my area that kind of stuff never really took off I mean most people don't even really want to run Nitro in my area we end up paying $50 a gallon for 20% and 70 for 30% the diesel thing was around for maybe a month no one paid attention to it and it was over

thebug 404 yeah I it definitely depends on the crowd. I grew up in a mechanic shop and run my own now. naturally when it came to planes and RC cars I wanted to go with a combustion engine I have a diesel/nitro and gas for 2 stroke fifth scale stuff. I know with the guys I run with it’s kind of like playing a game of chess Who can set up there RC to perform better than the other clutch engagement, transmission shift points, gear ratios, suspension, drive train etc. but I guess the world is changing from true hobbyists that wouldn’t let anyone touch their RC with a 10 foot pole. and now the hobby shops offer a mechanic service to fix peoples broken RC’s which I guess to guys like us it kind of defeats the purpose of the hobby. I know me along with a bunch of other guys I know wanted to stay away from electric and went to 1/5 scale at least those run on gas. but yes I guess times are changing and I’m glad I stockpiled lots of parts for my nitro stuff. but what I’m finding out as far as the diesel conversion is the engines run cooler they have much more torque and run more efficient. and the diesel fuel will extend engine life substantially. it’s definitely not for the guy that just wants something to bash around in every once in a while and don’t have the Know how or the Ambition to bother with it. unfortunately that’s kind of the direction it’s gone. But The diehards like me are still out there in numbers. I keep an eye on vintage rc Diesel engines eBay there still out there sometimes for pretty cheap. hope you didn’t think I was trying to bust your balls I was just trying to let you know there are ways if you’re willing.😃👍 and I agree you’re never going to get Diesel from a pump to run a nitro it probably wouldn’t even run in an actual RC diesel engine I believe the fuel you get from Davis has small amounts of ether mixed in it. to help with cold starts.

All you need is a diesel head , just get a Davis diesel head or make your own head , i run a diesel o.s cv , way quieter than glow , far more tourqe , you can even use some gasoline with 2 stroke oil , no worries.

Another missed out but critical reason that diesel won’t work in a glow engine & that is when in a diesel engine the diesel fuel is highly pressurised & injected through a fine nozzle that atomises the fuel which mixes with the inducted air making a highly combustible fuel air mixture.
Much like flour, when in mass it is not flammable but when it is in the air as a fine dust it can explode when it reaches a higher ratio of parts per million. (Great Fire Of London)

Hi, ive seen the video, I make biodiesel which I'm guessing there is in the bottle next to the os engine. Would the os engine work with a mix of 80 percent methanol to 20 percent biodiesel as the lubricant instead of castor oil? My engine is a os la 40. Andrew Mckenna, Nottingham England

I've been thinking about making some biodiesel for my airplane engines just for fun to explore the science behind it and the bottle that you're talking about is actually just the winter Diesel from the gas station and the downside is methanol doesn't really blend West petroleum products but I would like to see if it would blend with biodiesel although these engines won't really work with diesel because you're not high enough compression ratio it's something I'm probably going to experiment with soon and see what happens my airplane engines run on a mixture of pump diesel ether and castor oil but they're also very high compression design for that kind of fuel

@@thebug4046 I use bio all year round in my car, but some people use pump diesel when it's cold outzud, my car manages on bio all year round. My suggestion is, make some bio, or cooking oil and methanol won't mix. Get 20% bio and mix 80% methanol with it. My theory is, that the bio would be the lubricant and take the place of caster oil, but if it works, would be much cheaper. Over here in England, model fuel can be expensive.

@@DarkLinkAD basically to convert an RC car engine to gasoline or diesel it's never going to happen they don't have high enough compression and they can't burn that kind of fuel you would have to have an ignition system with a spark plug for gasoline or an extremely high compression ratio for diesel the diesel airplane engine in my video have long since been out of production and there's no company in the world that makes them anymore they are very old school technology and there was a company in the 90s that tried to make diesel conversion kits but they don't work you have to have at least four hundred plus PSI of compression to burn diesel and the RC diesel mix is 1/3 kerosene 1/3 1/3 1/3 castor oil and 2% isopropyl nitrate you can always make yourself some 0% nitro with racing grade methanol and racing grade castor oil at 90% methanol 10% castor oil with a hot glow plug to reduce your cost of expensive RC fuel

I have built a lot of diesel engines before. It is possible to create an RC Diesel Engine, it's just not worth the effort based on how much you could sell an engine like that.
You will need a very high compression engine ratio.. a very fine injector and a very powerful fuel pump... and then, you'll run into electrical power consumption issues which will make you create an micro alternator which is also complex and time consuming to do.
All of that effort... thousand of dollars in complex machinery, thousands of dollars in dedicated labor for what... $399 an engine? Not worth... Specially now that everyone is moving to brushless.

Yup I agree Used to be kits available for that but not anymore and you can buy diesel RC engines sometimes they are quite expensive and you have to mix your own fuel which sometimes depending on the country living might not A thing that's easily done to do with legalities of certain chemicals
