- Today we tackle the dreaded cosmoline. These are the mags we picked up from Apex Gunparts in our last video. We remove the cosmoline by using mineral spirits and warm water and follow up by using eezox as a protectant. stick around and enjoy!

Even though this is 4 years old I use of all things WD-40 it eats the cosmoline up I use a 2in. paint brush and brush the cosmoline off and then wipe the gun parts or magazines off and beat part won't have to worry about the parts to flash rust.

I ordered 3 Chinese AK mags from Apex i was a little surprised at the ammount of cosmolene they put on the outside and inside of the mags. Anyway i got a gallon of orange citrus degreaser at home depot and i soaked the mags for 2 days. I took the mags out back and sprayed them down with the hose and got the excess clogs of cosmolene off. Now i need to take the mags apart and do the inside. Its alot of work but i think it will be worth it in the end. The mags appear to be quality mags with very little wear.

No problem man, the inside was so bad it made me think these weren’t just brushed with cosmoline but actually dipped in hot cosmo. I literally just got done test fitting the mags in all my aks and galil Ace, they fit everything I own. Really nice mags. These are probably the newest looking mags I own ha
@@NoblesTx ok brother thanks. Did you or are you doing a another video on the mags like how they fit and shoot ? I have a few Aks one is a Mac 90 which i cant wait to see how it fits. You would think it would fit like a glove. I didnt get a chance to clean the inside yet but i took one apart. Its unreal at the ammount of cosmolene that is on the inside. I would aggre with you that they had to be dipped in hot waxy cosmolene. Ill go to home depo tomorrow and get more supplies like mineral spirits brushes yadda yadda yadda. Again i think the mags are top notch. New subscriber here buddy
Gman 5445 yea, when I get a chance to go to the ranch I’ll run the mags through a few different rifles and make sure everything’s feeding great. When I went to Home Depot for brushes they only had big brushes, you can find some smaller brushes at local stores like Walmart’s or in my case the dollar general. Thanks for subscribing! Really hot soapy water and a toothbrush are your friends. Takes me about 15min per mag for cleaning

I picked up a box of 50 of the a while back.
I have a spray bottle of kerosene and just hose mine down until clean. Try it and tell me what you think.
