This was not a tribute. I don't even know that was. There was no video of him, no one in the CF community spoke about hime, not even Dave Castro got up to speak about him. How horrible, unless his brother reuested this type of service. I don't understand how you just ignore what happened and so easily move on and not even care what happened.
That was a painful and empty tribute. My heart is crushed for his family. Lazar Dukic May you rest in the arms of Christ. You have competed with grace and glory. Thank you for being an inspiration and joy to so many! Your smile and laughter and humility is unparalleled! My heart breaks that your time has been cut short but believing for your memory to live on in the hearts of those you trained, and encouraged along the way. And especially in the love that is so purely displayed in your family.
“The 2024 CrossFit Games is dedicated to Lazar Dukic” ….. means absolutely nothing. Accountability needs to take place for something that was preventable.
Unless the family requested that the games continue, this was barbaric and the games should’ve been cancelled. CrossFit failed this family. Going forward there should be way more lifeguards than 2 people on a paddleboard and Fire Department on the scene on standby.
His brother, Luka, who is also competing said that his brother would’ve wanted the games to continue. I agree they failed as far as safety precautions, but the family was considered when deciding what to do moving forward

All I’ve seen is that (*) “Dave Castro” saying, “I wanted to talk to Luka and really see where he was and how comfortable he was with that” (“that” - let’s move down this path of starting the games tomorrow, kicking back off, and, and celebrating him and honoring him) In true Dave Castro fashion, CrossFit pushed the event through. $$$$$ “he (Luka) gave his blessing, he said he supported the idea of the event continuing forward. (Side note, why did Castro keep calling coaches agents?)
They want to make it seems like it was a tragic accident and use the tribute as a way to continue the event and keep quiet about it. They're in CYA mode. I hope the executives get dragged through the courts and lose. The community should hold the organization fully accountable for negligence and demand changes if they truly want to honour this man's death.

He drowned in one of the events 50 metres away from the finish line in view of everyone and 2 life guards on paddle boards
