I feel insecure about how I need to use more than one sketch in my art. It's very reassuring to see someone who's as good as you using multiple sketch drafts before you get started on the main piece
thats actually very good to use multiple sketches! it allows you to do a cleaner lineart later and it might look better than just drawing it after one sketch. No need to feel insecure about it! Some proffesionals just like to skip a couple steps to save some time but keep in mind it takes your quality of the drawing
I also used to be very insecure and embarrassed about my process because it felt different and imperfect compared to other artists , I actually used to cut some bits out of my video because of this. But I realized that I’m also still learning and not being able to do a perfect drawing from the first go is a complete normal thing and is valid. The process and the struggle I go through is what helps shape the final result and it’s something I can be proud of😄 I’m really glad I kept all my trial and error in the video, and I hope it encourages other artist to be more confident in their own unique process!
@@yomiya_usr ahhh thankyou for thiss T--T This is exactly the main reason why I haven't started doing speedpaints yet, I feel insecure or not confident of my sketches cuz they all look so wonky or deformed at first 😅 thanks to your comment I feel like I could do it now
@@anonykitsune Sketches exist to get your ideas down. Even your bad ideas. Maybe you won't stick with one sketch, but you can always use one of your sketches for a different piece. Besides, the sketch isn't the finished product anyways. Plenty of professionals do multiple sketches, line art pass-overs, and more just to finish their work. Sometimes they'll scrap an entire, nearly-fleshed out concept JUST to make a different one. In fact, if you want to see entire colored concepts being tossed aside, I highly recommend you watch speedpaints of League of Legends skins (cringe if you wish, but the artwork is genuinely insane and the processes are usually VERY thorough). All of these professional, paid artists are having their "shitty sketches" turned into amazing artwork that gets presented to MILLIONS of people EVERYDAY. Your speedpaints could be the exact inspiration people need for their own artwork. Don't rely on validation from other people, as it will continue to scare you to be so public with your art. Love yourself, and love your art. That's all you need to be brave. Good luck to you. :)
I usually make sketch layers for different things in a painting. It’s actually really good to do it as t gives your creativity a chance to flow free with ideas, it’s also fun.
honestly pretty reassuring to hear the amount of time it took to take this, and here i thought taking 8 hours to make an alright finished piece meant i was a bad artist
i love how you dont settle down with your sketch, sometimes i think i'm "too indecisive" or that i'm doing something wrong because my first sketch it's not flawless and ready to go in just a few tries, and end up overwhelmed, your work inspires me!
Seeing your process is absolutely fascinating and I feel like I can learn a lot by your flexibility in not sticking to an initial sketch. For me, when I draw its "it's gonna be this pose or nothing else" which can be really constraining. Thank you for uploading this, wonderful work!!!
You don't know how much insecurities this video chase away from me, I always feel That I am behind my friends because how long I draw, using many layers just for sketch, the millions of sketches pile up in my canvas and many more, compared to my friends that took 2-3 hours to make a full illustration, I felt like I am just a bug surrounded by mountains, but now, I feel more confident in my self, I'll try to trust the process and do my best to make an art that makes me happy. Thank you
I'm so happy to see someone, who also makes a lot of sketches before doing main part, because I usually watch artists' speedpaintings and they just start with one sketch and go on
the number of time you took to make the pose on the character on the left warms my heart. Knowing that artworks have so many try and retry is nice to see ^^
Your drawings have impressed me. I literally cried last night just because I didn't like my work and almost gave up but seeing your art style made me want to draw something like yours. I'm still not comfortable with my style right now and I'm still looking for it!💗
Ik theres a lot of speedpaints out there but i still gotta thank you for making this. I dont have a painting style yet bc idk what my process should be like and this really helps me get ideas and try new techniques out.
i'm a very slow artist with the attention span of a gnat and some of my pieces will go through five or six iterations over the course of Several Months before i settle on anything just due to the scatterbrained way i draw. i've always been kind of embarrassed and frustrated with myself and it's part of why i tend to take so long to finish anything (and most projects remain unfinished), because the shame of being unable to do anything "right" makes me feel too bad to keep working on things sometimes, but watching this video did something fun and good to my perspective, i think. you run through a ton of small iterations and you're quick to change things if you just don't like it, and the final product is gorgeous and so so so much better for all the time and work you put into building and rebuilding the foundation until you were satisfied with it! seriously, the effort you put into the composition and layout really shines through this piece and i genuinely adore it so much!!!
Such gorgeous detail on the buildings, painted with so much love! Really amazing! I also love how energetic and dynamic his pose looks despite of being seated, as if he might spring up excitedly any moment. The sketching process was worth it to find the right one!
This is some long af sketching technique. My inner patience demon is screaming at me to please never do art like this, while logically I know how much this would improve everything I've ever done. (I came here to learn, now I wanna die lmao) This is awesome and terrifying. (in a good way, lol)
i recognized the art style almost immediately! the background in this is absolutely stunning and it was amazing to see your process! absolutely beautiful
Just watched this from start to finish and it was super interesting to see your process! Also admire the dedication to keep going. A piece like this seems so huge and overwhelming but you pulled it off!
this is like simply just AMAZING. I have no words.thinking abt the amount of time this must have taken this is simply just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE IT
Wow! I really love your art style!! It's very similar to what I'm trying to do with my art too, this video is really educational for me on how others approach this kind of painting style! I love it!
The amount of detail in the background is driving me crazy. I can only guess the time you have to had invested into getting that much skilled. Hope I can learn a thing or two about these speedpaints so in the long run I can get a little better. Very nice speedpaint! Thanks for posting!

It can easily ~7 hours straight (or even more)

The detail in the background is just so good! I would’ve already given up in the rough sketch if i had to draw that much detail 😭 Astonishing work!

I just put too much time into my sketches so it feels like a waste if I delete it and start over. I gotta be more like this.
Finally I don’t have to feel embarrassed about using 10+ layers for a sketch 💀
seeing this amazing artist struggle with deciding on the pose, design etc. is soooo validating thank u for including everything
