My introduction to the King was the dead Zone. I read that one like 3 times.

@@robertnigro1430 Wow, I would imagine that’s a pretty good book. All I know is the film, but I imagine the book is way better..🍻

I don't remember exactly when I started reading King but it's a safe bet it was this book, that's my first memory of King anyway. Such a strong piece of work, dark sad and horrific while also thrilling of course, his style grabbed me like so many others in the 80s. Then the movie came and back then, I didn't follow filmmaking but was just so excited to see this and it was even better than I expected. I have a soft spot for all of the films based on Stephen's work but this one is probably my favorite. It takes the essence of the story and brought it to life in such a haunting manner. Love Love Love the cast! I could rave on about it but so glad to have this in my memory banks, even the Zelda nightmares, haha!
And due to this strong appreciation of the story, I also love the 'less than' sequel, reboot and it's prequel. Just something about this story, I'll be drawn to any interpretation of it. Bloodlines really connected with me for some reason, I know I'm in the minority but I really want more of that Micmac backstory in film. Then again, this is where I'm different from most horror fans, I want more of something I love, even if it's different. It's not about matching quality of a previous entry but matching and/or expanding the story and content. "Gimme more!" LOL!

@@DonJoeBob I love how you phrased that in the end, “wanting more of what I love,” it’s not quality per se but just the story being expanded.. I really dug ‘Bloodlines’ but can’t remember how ‘Pet Sematary 2’ went.. I didn’t really think much of the remake, but maybe something I need to revisit. I find, not being a big fan of remakes in general, that sometimes revisiting something, it opens up and hits me in a way that had not before, great example is a recent revisiting of the ‘Suspiria’ remake. I really did not like that film first time through, but I’ve recently reviewed it for BodyBags, or maybe it was for my ‘Italy’s Holocaust,’ that’s probably it, I really do have a completely different take. It’s too bad It didn’t do well, we might’ve got the other two pieces in that trilogy from the same Director and that would’ve been a real gift.
Anyhow, do you have any thoughts on what we might’ve got? Had George A. Romero actually directed it?🍻

@@BodyBags That Suspiria remake was a great example of how to do it. Loved it. Haven't made the time to rewatch it yet in order to properly respond on your review but I look forward to it.
Romero's Pet Sematary - in short, I believe it would have been amazing. It was the perfect property at the perfect time. George needed that one big mass appeal film to get out of the zombie purgatory, studios kept him in, needing to see him have broader connections. King was, well, king of the 80s and helming that film would have went perfectly with George's strengths. I love Mary Lamberts version but you just can't help but imagine how dark and grim George would have made it. We need a doc on this subject!
