    I have two R5c cameras and they are fully rigged out. I have used them extensively for TV productions and they are outstanding. My clients have many times said how excellent the image is. I rigged them out in part to have my high end clients feel good...but do love the matt box, monitors, cage, follow focus....etc...part of the system when needed. And when I don't need all of those attachments, I have a small portable camera that is excellent for video and stills.

      Do you have some kind of batter adapter for a higher capacity battery? Or how many batteries do you typically need for a shoot day?

      @ I use the SmallRig VB99 with V-mount. It’s last me most of a production day. And charges just by USB-c. And can also power anything that uses usb-c.

    I bought the R5C 20 months ago with my primary business being photography but pressure from my clients to shoot film. Having a high end performance cinema camera paired with everything bar IBIS really smashed it and increased my business. The battery really isn’t an issue. Photography just use normal batteries however if using for film use a dtap battery in your pocket or rig it up. Shutter angle has spoilt me. Never stress about calculating shutter speeds. Audio options, limitless 4k 120 & 8k 60. I don’t find the fan on the back makes you anymore visible as a photographer. Number of customisable buttons is a game changer. Simply love it. It’s a true hybrid of both professional stills and film.

      Why would anyone want you to shoot on film, film is vastly inferior. That's like choosing a Ford Model T over a Ford GT.

    Awesome! I've recently made the switch from the R5 to the R5C and it's been incredible. The battery life (for my style of shooting) hasn't been the biggest issue. I'm loving all the R5C specific features and it has been well worth the switch.

    @TKNORTH,
    Lucky to have both and as you mentioned, if shooting mostly stills, it’s the R5. If more video or hybrid work, definitely the R5C for all the things you mentioned in this video.
    Have a couple battery solutions for long form recording on all day shoots.
    What bugged me the most was Canon never lifting the 30min recording limit on the R5. But as you said, the R5C video mode has so many options and menu like the C70 and cinema cameras without internal NDs and other audio options. But the OIS + DIS is way good enough for handheld.

    • @TKNORTH
      @TKNORTH  Рік тому +1

      Sounds like a great set-up to have! Since I currently still have the R5 and R6 it would probably make more sense to switch to the same... still considering it!
      Yeh I hope to see the 30min limit gone on the R5 MII, slowly seems like more cameras are ditching this.

    I didnt want to loose IBIS for photo. My RF 50mm 1.2 really needs it as DOP and A Photog the pro and the con of that effect me. Cinema like my RED GEMINI dont need IBIS but photo wise its a factor. The R5ii makes all of this more and more difficult.

    Is the AF very bad for run and gun situations?

    • @TKNORTH
      @TKNORTH  11 місяців тому

      It definitely was notable at first, but once I tweaked the settings and sped up the speed a bit I didn't find it a major downside - although I also wasn't using it on any fast moving scenes. That slower adjustment for video can definitely be useful at times, but it is quite different to the R5.

      @@TKNORTH I totally agree on it being great on slow moving subjects especially when the subject isn't moving towards or away from camera, I find it struggles quite a bit when the subject is further away (maybe 1/5 of the the frame) it tends to shoot the focus to the background. Occasionally using tracking auto focus and tapping on the screen, it will also not pull focus. I've tried many of the settings but doesn't seem to get to a good place compared to r6 II. Would love to hear what your settings are if I've missed anything 🙏
