Had a 3g and 4g test fluxcore today one inch plate, having never done 4g before I was stressing it but I found y’all’s video and went in there and knocked it out like nothing, these guys are the real deal thank you for helping me put food on the table💯
Congrats. I will have a 3G and 4G test tomorrow. I've done a simple vertical test before and welded a good amount of dumpsters which included overhead but I'm really scare for this test. It's probably not like the dumpsters.
I bombed the hell out of an overhead wire test years ago lol but I have more knowledge now in the field. My second 4g test ever will be this week, so practicing and watching this vid definitely pumps me up a bit more for this test. Thanks man!👌
It went pretty well, I used 0.45 wire on it. That job ended so I jumped on with my old job and tested for wire as well. I used that thicker wire and didn’t do so hot lol
Yeah lol I mainly weld stick where we are at, but I wanted to do the wire test that way I have that cert through the company already. I passed it but my cap looked ugly haha next time I grab that wire I’ll practice a bit more with that bigger wire lol 👍
Thank you, I haven't done overhead MIG in 7 years and I was struggling today with a test plate. All down to my root setting and trying to go left to right instead of back to front. Great refresher!
thanks to weldtube for the vids! got some good info on some of yalls stuff that will hopefully help get me thru school and to pass this first weld test/interview i got soon. only 1 con tho, for petes sake, cut back on the ads a bit. i understand like one ad at the beginning but like 2 or 3 ads throughout the vid is distracting
I recomment you guys put another camera to record your bracing, work/travel angle stuffs like that. Think thats more affective than just looking at the puddle. Anyway this is a cool walk thru 😎
Open root FCAW is a must for any ship building job test. Nice vid man. I wish I coulda found something like this when I started getting into marine welding
It would be cool if you guys could do a video with ceramic tiles. We use them all the time in the shipyard. Im sure you have shipyard down your way. Could help some people alot.
For the cover passes, when u pass the actual test u got to end it with 2 or 3 passes ? some people told me since the second layer has 2 u must end it with 3... but it seems more logical and easier to me to cover it with 2...
Hey bro whats up,good welding nice contents about welding keep it up.im also a welder with gtaw, smaw, fcaw qualification more video tutorial pls to help new welder/beginners.keepsafe im from Philippines.
Simplemente un crack e videos de tu otros colegas pero bro eres. el mejor saludos desde chile reparando los baldes y tolvas mas imponentes del mundo jajajajaj
Basically every video I've seen is of welders pulling the puddle, but the way the gun is held differs. Some like this dude holds it so the wire is shooting the way he faces at maybe a 10/15 degree angle, but others hold it where the gun points at them at the sameb10/15 degree angle. And yet others hold it where it shoots towards them, but the angle is towards the bevel at yet againa 10/15 degreeangle. What I gather is that there isn't a clear way to hold the gun except for the angle and that it is done as it feels most comfortable. Accurate? Thanks in advance
I always like to watch this cat weld, he knows his stuff but in taking these kinds of tests nowadays company's don't allow you to "ossiculate" or move side to side. If they catch you going side to side they will bust you automatically because they simply told you not to do it &/or, your out of welding procedure. The reason that they got out of this welding method because if your inexperienced you'll tend to have undercut which will lead to lack of fusion unless you grind the edges of every pass & especially on the cap if not knowing what your doing you could leave a hairline of undercut where you didn't dwell enough before moving & leave undercut. A very good piece of advise is to run as hot as you can running stringer beads then before you cap the test wire brush it real good but lightly with a powered wire wheel to help cool it down then go take a water break, smoke break, etc. to let that plate cool down to a reasonable temperature so your stringer cap will look nice, slick & uniform. If you think your getting off track, stop! get yourself aligned again & if need be do as Abraham says & cut you a slight grove with a 4" grinder or at least take a straight edge & scribe your path with a soap stone. This is the "money making weld" do whatever you've got to do legally to make the test! Good Luck!
He’s running way to low on wire speed. My WPS (Welding Procedure Standard) says 260-350 on wire speed and 22-27 volts. We use backing strips per our code though.
I have been stuck on 4G for a month. It's the cap that's screwing me up. 1/2 plate... I only have till November and I need my stick certs.. lmfaooo I'm upset.
great videos! 👍👍 i’m struggling trying to get back into welding again. i had went to school for it. had a job welding. lays off came. had to take a couple labor jobs. i’m done with being a labor, so i’ve been trying to find a welding job. i’m structural btw, not much. i’m in the freeport area.
Thats for factory workers and best for rookies. I like the traditional fiber metal hoods. No flash and is a flipup grinding shield all in one. Plus if u drop your expensive autodark shield from 100 feet up you'll be pissed if it breaks. The sturdy traditional hoods wont even scratch lol

@@hectorquiroz1483 haha no worries. Welding is something that takes a lot of time and skill and that thicker wire can be a hassle too

Great demo bro. Not over emphasizing it just straight to the point in a laid back way. Thanks for the humble knowledge
This guy got me through 3g 4g smaw with his style 4g gmaw tonight thanks

Loved the shot from the back side of the plate. Really smooth operator. Thank you for this video, man. Respect!
I just wanted to say thank you for putting this video out, it has help me out to the extreme in my welding class
Abraham always gets down and dirty with the knowledge. Thanks! Straight to the point.
Great video. Thank you for the advice. Here they only allow grinding for correction of previous pass. So we use our soap stone for our cap guidelines.
I have to test 3g & 4g in a couple of weeks for omega, wish me luck.
Omega Morgan?
Did you ever get the job ?
Omega in sandiego????? A ship yard
Good luck…. Stuck on my 4g groove with backing right now

Did he mention what he was running his machine at for fluxcore?
Since recently I started using guide-lines because it’s kinda hard for me to see with only one eye when I’m doing my cap
Is the wire 0.35 or 0.45????
Thanks
I don’t know for sure but I’m guessing 0.35 for mig and 0.45 for the flux
Do you have video for 2g butt joint FCAW with baking plate
3/8 plate

Show a video of overhead spray transfer
Just took 3g and 4g I’m nervous

Hey man where do you guys get your hoods from??? I been looking all over and none like your guys hoods w the leather. Their bad ass
Pongan un buen camarógrafo y ala lente un cristal oscuro para podamos ver lo que están soldando.. ahí sólo se ve el destello
Better lighting would have been helpful!
Quiero preguntar a todos esos proyectos de profesores de la soldadura porque no dicen él tipo de hilo que usan para soldar y el tipo de Flux
Open root 🙌🏾
Not a clear shot or common joint to pass .
Keep hustling 👨🏽🏭🤙🏾
Whats the best lens shade for flux
I say 11 or 12 bud
