The shield is stronger more 60% with fully 3 stacks by single E hold. But if you do her shield skill two times already, her shield is stacking and reach to the limit. In this case, 3 stacks from E hold can't makes the shield stronger. "Is the shield makes by E hold stronger than E press?" A2: No. It's same.

He doesn't have resistance to interruption, if you get hit more than once in a row, you'll get interrupted. The first hit breaks the shield, the second hit interrupts you. I'd say baizhu is a good healer, terrible dendro applicator, and an Rng shielder.
Baizhu's shield is meant to break by itself even if the character is not being attacked because when it breaks it heals and apply dendro and I don't recall but I think it does something else (that's why it breaks/only stand 1 hit). But at the end even tho it only works a for a short period of time his healing is the best so no worries xD
Why noelle and zhongli are stronger is because those are geo shields that resist more the physical damage, the rest of shields only has bonus for one specific element (the one the shield is made), geo shields have a slight absorption against all elements
Some things to note: It appears beidou still provides dmg reduction even after her shield pops since unshieled hits do 1016 instead 1562 (1563 for the kiara test). All of the examples appear to have rounding since the shield pops and some overflow damage is taken if the overflow dmg is less than half it is counted as having blocked an extra hit with the sole exception being Nooelle who had an overflow of 887 and was still counted as blocking 13 hits instead of 12 when she blocked less than half of the 13th hit (each hit being 1562).
Outside of Zhongli, Layla seems like the best shielder to me. She only requires one use of her skill, and she has 100% uptime on her shield as long as your rotations are 12 seconds are less (which most teams are). She's definitely not the strongest shield, because other chararcters have stacking mechanics, but her ease of use is only rivaled by Zhongli. On top of that, Cryo doesn't generally hurt most reaction chains so her element isn't a big barrier. Kiara gains a lot more value if there are always at least 3 enemies because she can gain her stacks quicker (same with Xinyan, but.. who is that?), but she loses it outside of those senarios. Yanfei and Thoma are Good shielders but much more niche because pyro can hurt a lot of rotations outside of Burgeon.
Her ease of use is better than Zhongli's, his hold takes longer while hers is instant, it's the most convenient shield in the game with one tap and 100% uptime
Also she hits enemies and generates energy, and isn't burst reliant. If you see her burst just press it and go back to your rotation, no need to run around trying to collect some energy and messing up everything. (I personally don't play a specific order or rotation.) I don't like burst reliant characters unless they are worth it or I can somehow easily get energy for them. (Xiao- *cough* )
I'm main Noelle with a very good build and let me tell ya, it doesn't break, it just doesn't, not even with the strongest attacks from bosses or enemies. Using Noelle as a shielder and DPS at the same time makes her unstoppable, even more at C6.

In all honesty beidou sheild is awesome . I use her with alhaitham in aggravate along with kuki and nahida . Not only she goves a sheild but also applies electro to multiple enemies . She is really underrated
I love Thoma’s shield, the fact that it stacks the way it does means that even if you break the shitty 5 hit shield there’s another shield as soon as you do a normal attack again. Pretty useful for normal attackers like youmiya or ayato or for characters who really need the resistance to interruption
The issue with yoimiya team is even if she benefit from him, she's lacking of damage because generally we put bennet and a hydro applicator like xinqiu, yelan because her scalling damage is'nt enough to deal big damage without reaction like arlecchino

And because he's pyro he can help you set up double VV swirl in some teams like kazuha xingqiu which can be more useful than Bennett buff in some cases even if not as strong
During yanfei’s shield test, I saw that you were standing in burning grass while deploying the shield, and here 2:29 you can see a 1562 and a 175. If shields work as they give a character a fixed amount of hp, or something similar, I think yanfei’s shield might’ve been able to take one more hit. It’s inconsequential, but something that might want to be retested, I think. Either way, this was a good test, and I appreciate the dedication for owning and leveling all the shielders to do this.
I've played a lot with Layla and now am building and playing a lot with kirara but I feel like kirara shield breaks way easier. Sure her build isn't done (cant seem to drop an hp sands for millelith) but it's mostly done and Layla felt like she shielded better with less investment than I've currently got on kirara. The only thing she shields well is dendro, because it's of course a dendro shield. While I feel like Laylas shield outperforms it with every other element. I cannot imagine the 1 piece makes this much of a difference. Though I kinda forgot what I've got on Layla, I know I built her as a mix for shield and damage and both have jade cutter. It's a bit of head scratcher.
It's the opposite for me. I built Layla some time back, but her shield broke more often then not. And now building kirara with stuff I had laying around it almost never breaks
@@HerefortheHorns Funny how that goes. With Kirara I figured out I was playing her wrong though. I did not realize how the stacking worked, so I usually had her 'weak' shield. Once I took a minute to figure that out it improved dramatically. And now I have a copium 4 star HP sands as well.... better than nothing, but I have only dropped 1 5 star for it since and it had 3 flat stats and DEF%.... because of course. We love RNG, dont we >.
You gotta remember kirara needs the 3 stacks for her shield to be good and that can be easily achieved by using a sac sword , also if you need maximum shield durability, you need to have layla and kirara e at level 9

I know baizhu shield can't actually be called a shield but it is technically a shield and as shield enthusiast i do feel disappointed in his shield no matter what purpose his shield actually for. For me, shield is meant to block dmg but i do know his reduce interruption kit on his shield, but then again as thoma main i already have thoma with the exact same kit although it's not written anywhere but Thoma's shield is indeed has interuption dmg and also knockback resistance
all shields do thoma is really good bc even when it breaks no stagger and a refresh so you always have 100% res uptime, but yeah thoma and baizhu similar there
Today i learnt that baizhu is surprisingly really good support for my raiden lol, i have to put bennett in 2nd half because of the copelius ice shield (usually he is there to buff my raiden) so i only have kazu and xingqiu for my team 1, i added baizhu just so i can have a smooth run, but i forgot that spread and hyperbloom dmg buff exist and that team ended up being super good 😅

I'm kinda sad, I only recently figured out that there are a very limited number of Recurve bows you can get in Genshin and I've already 100% exploration 💀💀
My favorite shielder is Kirara, with Dockhand's Assistant shes got pretty good hp and her best set is 2 x 2 piece 20% sets which i already have thanks to Baizhu, who i need to make a solo build for anyways
This is a great comparison, but it would also be nice to see a calculation that include shield uptime. I.e. multiply the damage absorption by the % uptime. Noelle has 50% (or ~75% with talent) uptime, so her 13 hits is really 6.5 or 10. Layla has 100% uptime, so still 11 hits. And Kirara has 150% uptime, so 16.5 hits. Zhongli with 167% uptime is 26.5 hits. Idk for Thoma (his elemental burst makes it complicated) but I think Kirara has the best shield of all 4*
Zhongli really does put the game on easy mode…. that’s the problem of having him, once you get used whatever team doesn’t have him in Abyss is doomed to struggle lol

Uptime is important because it determines how often you can refresh the shield after it wears down. If we want to accurately measure how much protection it can provide, it needs to be considered within the overall flow of battle. I.e. protection against damage over time, not just damage. Does a 2 mil absorption shield that lasts for 0.1 seconds seem any good? Of course not. It may be used to tank one single mega-hit, but that’s a very limited use case.
but you also didn't take into consideration crystilize, which with noelle and zhongli would give shields based on reactions. Which puts Noelle still at a slight advantage over others. AND if you main Noelle, there are more factors involved than just uptime. @@leviathan005
So in terms of order it would be 1. Zhongli 2. Layla and Kirara (orders would change depending the type of team you're using) 3. Thoma 4. Noelle 5. Diona 6. Yanfei 7. Beidou 8. Xinyan 9. Baizhu 6, 7, 8 and 9 shouldn't be used for just their shields even though Yanfei's took more hits than Diona's
For me Layla is second. I need her for my Ayaka team and for more cryo. Also If I were to rate just shield she is still second place. The strongest shiled after Zhongli. Noelle's cooldown is to long nad Toma needs skill and ultimate to be good.

Lol! Noelle with 13 Hits! For a 4 star character she has a very strong shield and that's why I like her! if she pulled aggro like Amber's Graf von Hoppel, she would probably be the perfect tank. She has saved many characters on my team from certain annihilation.
Best shielders as of now in 4* character is c2 kirara and c1 layla, both same if you're using key khaj nisut weapon and they're both Hp ascend. However, kirara's skill is 8s cooldown with 12s duration than layla, layla is 12s cooldown with 12 duration, so kirara is the winner here
You have to stack Kirara's shield to reach Layla's lvl of shield. Moreover Layla's ascension passive lets her have additional 6% shield for each stack upto 4 stacks. So Kirara may be good for bloom team but outside it Layla is more practical.
@@RAZORlukic her shield is 250% more powerful against dendro damage so the cores exploding will not likely destroy it. I use Kirara in the Nilou-Nahida team and find her surprisingly effective in her shield role: no one dies from the cores

The diamond shape of Yanfei’s shield should have been the Crystallize shield shape. The logo symbol of Geo is diamond shaped and the Crystallize shards are diamonds. It kinda doesn’t make sense for the Crystallize shields to be completely circle or round. Conceptually, it would make more visual sense if they’re diamond shaped too.

I wish I had Kirara, Could use it for Neuvillette, now I’m stuck between Beidou, Layla and Thoma. And I will definitely not use Noelle cuz of the cooldown and Diona’s shield will go away after 2 seconds. I play Neuvillette in a Taser Team and I use Dehya for her Resistance
You can dodge a bit until Noelle shreild is back. I don't really have an issue since her CD at least for me is not that bad. It comes back fairly quickly since when her sheild is up I attack my opponet. Which helps reduce her cool down . (C6 Noelle with stats based on defense and uses white blind)

I tought all shields took dmg at the same time, like if had diona shield and thoma shield and received dmg, both shields would tank the full hit at the same time, so it does not makes a lot of sense to stack those up... I remember i did read that from a dev somewhere haha
I can imagine changing shields by using noelle and kirara once i get her by using kirara Shield then once it breaks , change to noelles Shield and do it again
Zhongli's shield is not even maxed...which you are missing 501 absorb + 2.48 percent multiplier from HP ( 1486 damage ) so in total its roughly 2k more damage Zhongli can absorb and that makes roughly 1-1.5 more hit.
The cool thing with Layla is that her shield can get even stronger I think if the shooting stars hit enemies or something? I forget the exact details but it reinforces itself under certain conditions. Also, running 4 piece Tenacity of the Millelith and having her shooting stars hit opponents She's baller, a baby Zhongli

If shields work as they give a character a fixed amount of hp, or something similar, I think yanfei’s shield might’ve been able to take one more hit. It’s inconsequential, but something that might want to be retested, I think. Either way, this was a good test, and I appreciate the dedication for owning and leveling all the shielders to do this.
Zhongli shield is not even leveled up fully
I've played a lot with Layla and now am building and playing a lot with kirara but I feel like kirara shield breaks way easier. Sure her build isn't done (cant seem to drop an hp sands for millelith) but it's mostly done and Layla felt like she shielded better with less investment than I've currently got on kirara.
The only thing she shields well is dendro, because it's of course a dendro shield. While I feel like Laylas shield outperforms it with every other element. I cannot imagine the 1 piece makes this much of a difference.
Though I kinda forgot what I've got on Layla, I know I built her as a mix for shield and damage and both have jade cutter.
It's a bit of head scratcher.
It's the opposite for me. I built Layla some time back, but her shield broke more often then not. And now building kirara with stuff I had laying around it almost never breaks
@@HerefortheHorns Funny how that goes. With Kirara I figured out I was playing her wrong though. I did not realize how the stacking worked, so I usually had her 'weak' shield. Once I took a minute to figure that out it improved dramatically.
And now I have a copium 4 star HP sands as well.... better than nothing, but I have only dropped 1 5 star for it since and it had 3 flat stats and DEF%.... because of course. We love RNG, dont we >.
You gotta remember kirara needs the 3 stacks for her shield to be good and that can be easily achieved by using a sac sword
, also if you need maximum shield durability, you need to have layla and kirara e at level 9

I know baizhu shield can't actually be called a shield but it is technically a shield and as shield enthusiast i do feel disappointed in his shield no matter what purpose his shield actually for. For me, shield is meant to block dmg but i do know his reduce interruption kit on his shield, but then again as thoma main i already have thoma with the exact same kit although it's not written anywhere but Thoma's shield is indeed has interuption dmg and also knockback resistance

As zhongli main lvl10 E it can tank those all missle with that 58k HP
While Noelle's shield scales with defense, it's more effective to use that 35% shield strength from the other set

Today i learnt that baizhu is surprisingly really good support for my raiden lol, i have to put bennett in 2nd half because of the copelius ice shield (usually he is there to buff my raiden) so i only have kazu and xingqiu for my team 1, i added baizhu just so i can have a smooth run, but i forgot that spread and hyperbloom dmg buff exist and that team ended up being super good 😅

My favorite shielder is Kirara, with Dockhand's Assistant shes got pretty good hp and her best set is 2 x 2 piece 20% sets which i already have thanks to Baizhu, who i need to make a solo build for anyways
I used lvl 70 Thoma that I forgot to build so all his stats were worse than low, and the stacks were still enough to complete what I needed
This is a great comparison, but it would also be nice to see a calculation that include shield uptime. I.e. multiply the damage absorption by the % uptime. Noelle has 50% (or ~75% with talent) uptime, so her 13 hits is really 6.5 or 10.
Layla has 100% uptime, so still 11 hits.
And Kirara has 150% uptime, so 16.5 hits.
Zhongli with 167% uptime is 26.5 hits.
Idk for Thoma (his elemental burst makes it complicated) but I think Kirara has the best shield of all 4*

@@ayameren6579 I have nothing against Noelle. This is pure empirical evidence. And it seems you do not understand the concept or a shield if you are attacking uptime. Uptime is important because it determines how often you can refresh the shield after it wears down. If we want to accurately measure how much protection it can provide, it needs to be considered within the overall flow of battle. I.e. protection against damage over time, not just damage. Does a 2 mil absorption shield that lasts for 0.1 seconds seem any good? Of course not. It may be used to tank one single mega-hit, but that’s a very limited use case.
but you also didn't take into consideration crystilize, which with noelle and zhongli would give shields based on reactions. Which puts Noelle still at a slight advantage over others. AND if you main Noelle, there are more factors involved than just uptime. @@leviathan005

One thing I like about noelle’s shield is it has a very long duration, her skill cd is so long though
its mainly due to the fact shes designed to be the onfield damage dealer over off-field support, think of her as an itto rather than a zhongli
So in terms of order it would be
1. Zhongli
2. Layla and Kirara (orders would change depending the type of team you're using)
3. Thoma
4. Noelle
5. Diona
6. Yanfei
7. Beidou
8. Xinyan
9. Baizhu
6, 7, 8 and 9 shouldn't be used for just their shields even though Yanfei's took more hits than Diona's
For me Layla is second. I need her for my Ayaka team and for more cryo.
Also If I were to rate just shield she is still second place. The strongest shiled after Zhongli. Noelle's cooldown is to long nad Toma needs skill and ultimate to be good.
Yanfei can definitely be used just for her shield. It works better than thoma for hu tao imo, doesn’t steal reactions and is very tanky

Best shielders as of now in 4* character is c2 kirara and c1 layla, both same if you're using key khaj nisut weapon and they're both Hp ascend. However, kirara's skill is 8s cooldown with 12s duration than layla, layla is 12s cooldown with 12 duration, so kirara is the winner here

You have to stack Kirara's shield to reach Layla's lvl of shield. Moreover Layla's ascension passive lets her have additional 6% shield for each stack upto 4 stacks. So Kirara may be good for bloom team but outside it Layla is more practical.
Baizhus shield may only last for 1 hit, but you dont take the overflowing dmg. So as long as you only need to block 1 hit it is pretty strong. :3
We need to consider that Kirara's shield is basically unbreakable in bloom teams

The diamond shape of Yanfei’s shield should have been the Crystallize shield shape. The logo symbol of Geo is diamond shaped and the Crystallize shards are diamonds. It kinda doesn’t make sense for the Crystallize shields to be completely circle or round. Conceptually, it would make more visual sense if they’re diamond shaped too.

You can dodge a bit until Noelle shreild is back. I don't really have an issue since her CD at least for me is not that bad. It comes back fairly quickly since when her sheild is up I attack my opponet. Which helps reduce her cool down . (C6 Noelle with stats based on defense and uses white blind)

Zhongli's shield is not even maxed...which you are missing 501 absorb + 2.48 percent multiplier from HP ( 1486 damage ) so in total its roughly 2k more damage Zhongli can absorb and that makes roughly 1-1.5 more hit.

You need to use him burst first then use normal attak 3 times and done !.. You got 3 stacks = more stronger shield.
4 piece millelith and when layla shoots star, she probably take 2,3 more hits probably

The cool thing with Layla is that her shield can get even stronger I think if the shooting stars hit enemies or something? I forget the exact details but it reinforces itself under certain conditions. Also, running 4 piece Tenacity of the Millelith and having her shooting stars hit opponents
