I have a set Ludwig Classic Maples. My friend left his Gretsch's at my house. I have not stopped playing the Gretschs since he left them here. They are fabulous. So punchy and vintage sounding. I tune them high. 13" 16" 24" and the hand hammered snare. Heavenly. I'm selling my Ludwigs. The luds sound great too. But there is something special about the Brooklyn's.
I have had the pleasure of playing gretsch, catalina, renown,USA custom, brooklyn, and broadkaster. What I found is the USA had a focused sound (with the die cast hoops) broadkaster seamed very warm sounding. The Brooklyn they were the ones for me.They have a beautiful open sound.Them 302 hoops just seem to open up the drums.I ended up buying a BEBOP configuration with the 14x18 bass drum.Ive never heard a drum that small ,and be able to deliver what I get out of it. Do yourself a favor,if you want a small package that can deliver, check them out. Steve Maxwell has them in stock at all times, give him a call.
All fine drummers, but Cindy Blackman.. The equivalent of a fine wine in drumming..Her groove is so deep the USGS has her registered as a potential danger..😂💪🥁
I bought my first set of Gretsch Drums in 1964. They were made in Brooklyn, NY. I have now a 1978 7 piece set of Gretsch Drums. When they moved out of NY the product quality diminished drastically. I have been to the Ridgleland facility back in 1992. They also made Slingerland drums there. The reason for my visit was for parts. Gretsch back in the 60's was the most innovative manufacturer of percussion instruments in the world. The only negative was the accessories, Rodgers was far superior.
hands down to gretsch but any drums formula they made it's the gretsch sound! This slogan make laugh! So Ludwig is that that Brooklyn Gretsch sound? :)
Hey there. Brooklyn is not the only series that uses gaskets under the lugs. The only difference is the Brooklyn series gaskets are bigger than the others. Thanks for the inquiry!
They sound pretty good. Now all you have to do is to put real skins on (calf, goat or kangaroo and get some real K.Zildjians made in Constantinopolis or in Turkey (if you can)

Dig the sound. Seems like Brooklyn right in the middle of USA and Broadkaster.
This is awesome
🙏
Is there a list of the microphones used in the video? Especially the ones for the kick drums and the floor toms

Why is the Brooklyn series the only one using rubber gaskets under the lugs?

Why aren’t they called “Ridgeland”?
Gretsch started in Brooklyn. It's a nod to our history as a company.
47 to 1:01 making my abalone nitrons!!
