    I’ve been playing this drum since last April, I also recorded my bands new record with it. It’s very versatile, tuned high or very low. I’d like to know what tune bot settings Mike uses just to compare. Overall I’m very happy with the snare and I’ve owned quite a bit of them!!

    This snare is truly killer. However I’m having a hard time adjusting to the 302 hoops. Amazing sound

    I’ve got a Gretsch Brooklyn COB and Gretsch Maple.
    Both great snares, so this should be good too.
    They make great snares.

    With regards to the internal muffling /damping
    It seems to me that they had it right years ago, so why did we lose it. Just a thought that’s all

      I just bought one Mike and so far I love it. Not sure it’ll replace my lm400 as my main workhorse but I’m having a lot fun playing it.

    So, I've spent a few months with this snare. It sounds great! It's *almost* the one-and-done wooden snare I was looking for, but there's a major issue that prevents me from recommending it to others, and that's the throwoff/tensioner setup. Having the throwoff on one side and the tensioner on the other is pretty inconvenient, and the only options for the throwoff is to have the snares on or off, unlike more conventional throwoffs that allow you to have the snares at various degrees of tension. While absolutely love the sound of this, and the hoops are great, I'm planning on selling this and finding a different all-purpose wooden snare, probably with die cast hoops.

      I hate the lightning throw. Why they don't use the microsensitive throw/butt plate on their higher end snares is beyond me. Thankfully they do come on the USA Bronze snares.

    I'm a fan of this internal muffling renaissance! The two new best options being Benny and mike. This one is definitely more affordable, and very attractive. Tough one here...I need a side by side. But I believe in MJ and Gretsch. I don't think I'll ever regret getting this sonic beauty. There goes my stimulus money!

    Will this snare work with a 2-ply head, given that it will withstand a Rich Redmond style hit?

    I'm sorry but is it just me or does the cymbal choke with the stick just interrupt the flow of the groove. I don't really see its purpose. Probably just me.

    • @stephenkrogh5934
      @stephenkrogh5934 4 роки тому

      I don't think so. I kind of like it for when I don't want a full choke, but don't want the cymbal to keep ringing. Different strokes, and all that.
