Liszt - Stabat mater, S172b (Thomson)

- Liszt's sacred music is generally forgotten, but it exists as another great monument of Liszt's compositional scope. The date of the Stabat Mater is uncertain, but must postdate Liszt’s arrangements of the ‘Cujus animam’ from Rossini’s Stabat Mater, since it includes material from the introduction to that piece, as introduction and bridge passage in the present piece, which otherwise elaborates the Gregorian chant of this text, set in thirds, as it is in Christus and in the much later Via Crucis. The piano piece has nothing else in common with these later works, however, being in a more simple variation form rather akin to that of the Miserere in the Harmonies poétiques. A small charming piece, that sounds very programmatic.
Andrei come back we miss you!

Andrei returns to assess the damage after the purge.
Wow, this pianist+piano has a rich resonant sound!
Liszt é o compositor que mais consegue arrancar os meus suspiros. 😊
Really thanks for your uploading and all your work for Liszt! We Really miss you!😭
Wow, long time no see 😭 great content as always!!!
Thanks for you and Liszthesis, I love Liszt and is my favorite composer!
Finally, you are back. This is a stunning piece. So dramatic!
btw anyone noticed how the pianist played the first 3 bars? The first 2 bars consist of the big 1-beat chord in each beginning of the bar. The 3rd bar is start with a minim (2-beats). However, the pianist still play in 1-beat, like the first 2 bars. So the 3rd bar consists of only 3 beats, not 4, eventhough there's no time signatures change. Anyone noticed that too, maybe?
edit : bar 4-5 (00:16) also consists of 2 minim chords (2 beats each chord, 4 beats total) but played in only 1-beat.
To make it clear,
hear 00:00 (the first chord, crotchet 1-beat) and 00:16 (also first chord, minim 2-beats), both being played in a same 1- beat. This mistake is also being played in passage bar 19 (01:21).Just correcting some things tho 😁😀
Pianist still did a really great job by playing this hard piece! Love this so much. Thanks Andrei for the lovely upload
Thanks for catching these discrepancies. Alexander Djordjevic, on his wonderful album Gray Clouds: [Late] Piano Music of Franz Liszt, certainly plays the opening correctly. He also takes a significantly slower tempo, which I feel he sustains impressively:

I know this doesn't have anything to do with this piece, but do you know where I can find the score for Liszt's Harmonies poétiques et religieuses No.7, S.172a, 1st version "Hymne de l’enfant à son réveil"? I would MUCH appreciate- thank you!
