This piece is so, so impressive. I wonder how much of her young life she had to sacrifice in order to attain such talent. Did she get to play with dolls, have teenage sleep-overs with her friends? Did she get married, have children, have a family life? Whatever the sacrifices, I humbly and reverently thank Ms Avdeeva for this beautiful offering.

This transcription is probably one of the most difficult piece even written by Liszt. Among the difficulties, it needs to obtain a high dynamic range to mimic that of an orchestra. This is truly very well mastered. One of the best interpretation I ever heard. Bravo

I agree!! There are other performances of this magnificent piece on UA-cam, but NONE compare to Yulianna's steadiness in tempi, tone, and precise articulation, bringing to the fore the various orchestral elements to make this transcription a true masterpiece.

This is not an easy piece of music to perform with such a strength, preserving the musical theme all through. An impressive achievement with clarifying phrasing, perfectly tempered tones, precision and a blazing technique. It’s a reel endurance test to perform Liszt Transcriptions! Bravo Avdeeva. Yes, Indeed! I'm exhausted just watching this performance, let alone playing one note of this warhorse of a composition!! I think there are numerous pieces that Liszt composed that he himself might have overextended even his abilities to perform them without feeling fatigued and wiped out after a performance.

This a wonderful performance of a very demanding Liszt transcription of Wagner's music. Liszt has created a genuine piano piece, not merely an orchestral piece "reduced" as in so many other transcriptions. Its technical demands are prodigious, and Avdeeva is impressively up to them. A very fine performance, but I grew up listening to Cziffra's recording of this piece and that is what I am accustomed to. Cziffra makes this piece sound so effortless with the clarity of each note struck perfectly (but he does that with every murderously difficult piece he performs). Watching this piece and hearing her twangs here and there and the effort she puts into making the melody work makes me realize just how difficult this piece is. I must compliment her on her passion and artistry however, and that has always been her strength.

This "transcription" - let's be honest, it's more of a fantasy - is Liszt over the top style at its best and yet she plays it in a way that actually makes you enjoy it. I could not spend months working on this version despite loving the ouverture, this is in my opinion one of those "ungrateful" transcriptions that just make you wonder how godlike of a pianist Liszt must have been. The technical ease he must have had to write something like this and think it would be playable to the mere mortal is mind blowing. Great work! Lovely interpretation.

Sure, the original orchetral version must be better than the Liszt "transcription". But why do I typically come back to the Liszt version?
Sure, Bolet's version from Carnegy Hall is fantastic and legendary. But why do I typically come back to Yulianna's version?
Explanations are complex. Sure, Yulianna has everything what is required for that piece of music. Incredible technique, stamina, control, and so on and so on....
But there is more, which I can hardly specify. I have the feeling, that I understand what she says even without words. Yulianna gives me the essence of the music even better then a big orchestra can do - for me of course, it's my personal feeling.
Dear Yulianna, thanks a lot for making it possible to listen to this masterpiece under your hands, whenever I am in the mood.

Liszt wrote the almost impossible to play stuff - except if you were him.

Absolutely outstanding!! Beautifully played and expressed by someone who not only knows how to work a keyboard, but can do so with great sensitivity and power. Wonderful! Keep up the superb work Yulianna!

What is it about Russian pianists? Most of the greats were/are Russian. This woman is the female successor to Horowitz!! Bravo !!

I've heard it as an orchestral piece, of course, but not the piano. After this, I can understand why. How many pianists are up to the demands of this piece? Makes the Rach III look like a piece of cake. Amazing performance!

Dang it! Here I am transporting a bunch of my piano rolls in the cab of my semi and I just had to tear this particular roll in two. This is a beautiful piece. Will have to find a replacement roll for this.

Very very good. Sublime! The only problem, if one can say this is a problem, is to know the original version first.

Wow. Thought she was incorrectly made first at Chopin competition. But, this really captured the style of over-the-top Liszt. Brava!
